Several CCPLs

edit

@FloridaArmy looking into this I have found several CCPLs across the east and mid-west, with the first mention in 1890 (Alexandria, Virginia), but also Illinois (1895) then in the early 1900's several (NYC, Kentucky, Florida, etc.) They appear to be state/local with some being absorbed into the NAACP, similar to Falls Church. Anyway, I am wondering if might be better to start this out as a list, then spin out the ones with sufficient sources to warrant stand-alone articles? I guess my concern is making it look like this Falls Church was the only one. Or maybe start with this one, while also working on a list? S0091 (talk) 15:28, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

User:S0091 can you add a sentence to this entry noting similar orgs formed elsewhere? We have to start somewhere.. :) A sentence with series of the locations and citations to sources would be good. I don't know if a broader subject article or individual entries on any of those are notable but I think this one is. Cheers. Thanks for all your help. @FloridaArmy Maybe mention here...not sure, but yeah the more I think about it I agree, this one is notable so start here. I think the ones in Kentucky, Florida (see Eartha M. M. White) and one in NYC (there was more than one in NYC) might meet notability. I am going to go ahead and start a list in draft just to keep track. When I do, I will add it to your missing list. If others are notable, can deal with article titles at that point then use the list to include those and ones that cannot support a stand alone article. Always more to do, right FloridaArmy! I wonder why the NAACP name was chosen over this one. FloridaArmy (talk) 18:25, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good question and the other I have is why are these not covered in the context of NAACP's history given at least some were absorbed, meaning as far I can tell, there is no mention of them in sources about the NAACP's history (except for the NYC one). They seem to be a predecessor, along with others, but no sources to support so my WP:OR. S0091 (talk) 18:53, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

User:S0091 are you going to add content about there having been other CCPLs? Also, I was wondering about the removal of "The NAACP was six years old at the time.[1]"? FloridaArmy (talk) 15:52, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I am not there yet with other CCPLs. I changed six years to young in the prose given the communication with the NAACP was over a period of time so they may have been six years to nine years old during that time. At the time they were accepted, the NAACP was nine years old. S0091 (talk) 16:23, 29 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
