Should this article not be merged with the "Elephanta Caves" article? The Elephanta island carries no significance by itself. It is famous only because of the caves. Without the caves, the island is just like any other island with dense forests/trees on it.
Mr. Vishnava? How is the Electricity information and the First police chief's name relevant to this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.91.210.225 (talk) 23:51, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- We get to know how electricity is supplied to this island - that is an important piece of info. I agree the first police chief's name seems out of place, but your removal due to "irrevelance" was not justified. Besides, how does it harm the article to add an extra tidbit of information? - Any island with inhabitants deserves a wiki page. And an island that is regularly visited by thousands of tourists needs even more of a mention. 202.78.172.162 (talk) 16:23, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
- Elephanta Island deserves its own article. I have traveled to Elephanta Island, and Elephanta Caves is ON the Island (which is another reason for there to be a distinct, separate article for Elephanta Island. We see people living on one side of the island and highly comercialiszed tourism happening on the 'public side' of the island. When I visited, I was told that 'no one sees where the people live when they are not working in tourism.'
- We also saw a few very scrawny dogs (who were not fed) and no cats. I felt as if we had countless vendors preying upon the long waiting lines of tourists. MaynardClark (talk) 16:40, 30 December 2016 (UTC)
