Tenth vs. Eleventh
editThis is the tenth film instalment in J. K. Rowling's Wizarding World. Eight Harry Potter films plus the previous Fantastic Beasts film; this makes this film the tenth overall. Someone keeps changing it to the eleventh. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not a film, and therefore should not be counted in this number, even though it is canon. I've continually explained my reasoning in the edit history, but this person keeps changing it back. Could a more experienced user help settle this situation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fannibleh (talk • contribs) 20:06, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- You are correct this is the tenth film instalment in the franchise. Curse Child is the first play in the franchise and 8th novel in the Harry Potter series. I've also reverted this editor about this. - Brojam (talk) 20:17, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Change status to semi-protected?
editIt's occurred to me that a lot of unregistered are making frequent unnecessary and sometimes "trollish" changes to this article (just look at the above discussion on "Tenth vs. Eleventh"). I propose changing the protection status of the article to prevent such unnecessary and frequently trolling changes in the future. -- TheGnerd (talk • contribs) 5:11, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
Title card
editCan we add this title card to the infobox?
Cast
editCan't something be done about the edits changing "cast billing order"? Seems like the majority of edits in March are about this issue, wasting time and space. Perhaps it can be discussed at the talk page? Or semi-protected? WikiHannibal (talk) 10:09, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
Controversy
editApparition at Hogwarts' grounds should be impossible. Yet, we still see it in the trailer! It sparked a huge discussion by potterheads. And no, this is not a discussion, it's a fact that it has been discussed.--APStalk 17:05, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
Early views reception
editIn the reception portion of this article, it is first stated that "Initially, the film received high anticipation and a mostly positive reception from early screenings."
Although true, this is a phenomenon true of most blockbusters, and has little bearing on the actual critical reception of the film. The same was true of Justice League, to list one prominent recent example, and no caveat is present in the reception section for that article. I propose removal; it's just a preface of unnecessary information that seems out of keeping with typical Wikipedia film article style. However, I'm hesitant to do it myself without discussion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.181.1 (talk) 08:37, 9 November 2018 (UTC)
Abernathy vs Grimmson
editIn the first paragraph of the plot, the ministry member who is a follower of Grindelwald is actually Abernathy. Later on, it says the British Ministry hires "Abernathy" to hunt Credance, but it is not Abernathy, it is Grimmson, who is portrayed by Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson. Can someone fix that? The plot also says Abernathy hunts down Credance later on, but yet again it is Grimmson. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azizk8 (talk • contribs) 15:01, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

change "Grindelwald finally tells Credence his identity: he is Aurelius Dumbledore, Albus' brother" (Last paragraph of 'Plot' section) to "Grindelwald reveals Credence's identity to him: he is Aurelius Dumbledore, Albus' brother". The current wording of the sentence is too ambiguous - as someone who has not seen the film, I had to check whether it was Grindelwald or Credence whose identity was revealed. The 5th paragraph of the Plot section says : "where Yusuf explains that he and Leta have the same mother".
That sould be replaced by : "where Yusuf explains that he and Leta have the same father"
- Not done: Many sources state otherwise. Spintendo 09:36, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
Original story
editIs it worth mentioning that, unlike the HP movies and the first Fantastic Beasts, this is not an adaptation but an original story? This source says it is, with the words "Between constructing an original story to fit organically within the remaining three Fantastic Beasts movies and constantly referencing established lore in the Harry Potter series in order to flesh out its universe". --Kailash29792 (talk) 04:24, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure the first film was an original story, too. It carries the title of a Hogwarts textbook, but it covers events that were never chronicled, referenced, or alluded to elsewhere in canon. 143.246.13.37 (talk) 17:07, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
Trivia
editGrindelwald is actually a real town in Switzerland. Sgitkene (talk) 12:17, 23 November 2018 (UTC)
- Not relevant here put it might be relevant in his character description List_of_supporting_Harry_Potter_characters#Gellert_Grindelwald -- 109.77.205.61 (talk) 14:47, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
Sinking
editIs the sinking meant to be the RMS Titanic? There was a lot that looked like the Cameron film, and I thought I detected a quote from My Heart Will Go On in the music. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 00:00, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
- I've just seen a copy of the screenplay. The sinking was in 1901 so therefore was definitely NOT the RMS Titanic. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 13:07, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
The reception states that it depreciated domestically because...
edit...of an apparent lack of interest in a five film franchise? That seems sort of unsubstantiated and presumptuous. I would delete that portion and only talk about the lesser critical reception as causal to the lower BO. Grabthatthang98 (talk) 21:24, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
I took this out. Whether it’s the case or not, the source article says nothing of the kind. PacificBoy 10:16, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

In the entry for Nagini, Credence is misspelled as Creedence.
Manuscript book
editThe script of the film has been released in book form, which should be mentioned somewhere on the page. Could somebody insert that fact in some suitable spot? Zeck (talk) 16:39, 25 December 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zeck (talk • contribs) 23:30, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Accolades
editSince the list of Accolades is so short (only 3 nominations, from 2 groups) it would be better presented as WP:PROSE. I'd have done it already instead of writing but the article was locked (not even flagged edits allowed). -- 109.77.205.61 (talk) 14:47, 19 April 2019 (UTC)
Possible merge
editHi everyone, so I'm really new in wiki and I hope that I'm leaving this message right: I'm trying to create a page for Theseus Scamander, and I got a speedy deletion from one of the editors and got myself saved by the other editor who agreed with my thoughts that wiki articles could take weeks and months to build up and it would be too fast to consider a page as useless or unworthy when it's only been created for half an hour. this kind editor also proposed that the page should probably be merged into Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, I thought it would be a great idea but since im really a baby in wiki editing, I hope this is the right place to discuss (as thats what I read in the guide)Suzysoy (talk) 08:25, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Newt Scamander doesn't have his own page (it is only a redirect) so it might be difficult to convince people that Theseus Scamander should have his own page. (Welcome to Wikipedia, escape while you still can.)
I suppose the first thing I would recommend is WP:DRAFT, which explains how you can create your own draft pages and work on them yourself in your own userspace, until you are ready. You can gather various sources and are happy with the quality of your work and then add them to articles later, or even create new articles. That's a good first step no matter what you do after that. If you find good sources and you think particular details are missing from this article you can always suggest them and ask for more detail to be added but I should warn you that editors of this article might not want too much detail about Theseus Scamander either since this article is supposed to be about the film as a whole. We could still probably add a bit more detail here and there, for example a bit more character description in the cast section, maybe more details about the actor in the Production/Cast section, etc etc.
If this was a Harry Potter film I'd say add it to List of Harry Potter cast members or even List of supporting Harry Potter characters. In this case there is no article for List of Fantastic Beasts cast members (or even List of Fantastic Beasts although there is Magical creatures in Harry Potter). There does not seem to be any Fantastic Beasts related list related articles at all yet. Maybe you will have more luck if you ask Dumbledore's Army and try to find out if anyone else is already working on any Fantastic Beast related lists or draft lists where you could help add details about Theseus. -- 109.79.171.9 (talk) 23:00, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Hi, thank you so much for all these answers and advices. And yes I've just moved this page to draft which would be a much better way to edit (and so much less stressful). Also, maybe it's getting a little bit late to escape, I'm starting to feel the fun (even though most of time very confused and VERY CONFUSED).
I should definitely go and try my chance with the Dumbledore's Army then, I'd be more than happy to contribute on Theseus as I'm not determined to make " a page" in Wiki for him but just want more people to know this in-universe character does exist and is quite important as I would subjectively say.
Thank you so much for everything and have nice day/night!Suzysoy (talk) 03:25, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
