Students during a Happiness class

@Joseph2302: Sure. Also, proposing ALT 3 and 4 to make it more understandable for majority of the readers.
  • ALT3: ... that amidst COVID-19 pandemic, eight hundred thousand students studying in the government schools of Delhi are remotely taking part in the classes of Happiness Curriculum? (source same as ALT1)
  • ALT4: ... that 1.6 million students studying in the government schools of Delhi take part in the classes of Happiness Curriculum? (source same as ALT2)

  •   This topic is not illegible for DYK because of a number of problems. The article is overall WP:PROMO and there are long quotations on the article. Most of the sources are covering Delhi government's own statements, some of which aren't even WP:RS. Since no independent evaluation has been done to this day about the curriculum. Since there has been only 2 years, I would expect that we should wait some more until independent evaluation has been done.Ashishkafle (talk) 11:55, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ashishkafle: Thanks for your comment. I agree that it sounds a bit promotional, I have been wanting to clean it up a little bit, give me a week or so, I personally didn't get enough time to work on this after creation. I will try to make it more neutral, and address QUOTEFARM. I will also try finding better sources, and ping you again after that. KCVelaga (talk) 12:34, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ashishkafle: Hi, I reworked the article, and also, only kept ALT2. KCVelaga (talk) 17:48, 15 June 2020 (UTC) @Ashishkafle: reminder! KCVelaga (talk) 09:53, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Full review needed. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:54, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • The article is still promoting the views of Sisodia, than someone who can be held as a non-partisan source. The "Impact" section does not talk about any impact, instead, it focuses on what will happen. Any proclaimed "influence" in the section about "Reception" or in the hook itself is not established by any evidence if the curriculum has indeed influenced establishment of any institution. I don't see any relevance for the "Covid-19" section as well because every educational entity has been affected by the virus. I still think that the article should be instead merged to Education in Delhi until we have independent evaluation of this subject backed by WP:RS. Ashishkafle (talk) 07:46, 29 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ashishkafle: I would be happy to learn which specific parts of the article do you think are promoting the views of Sisodia. Under Impact section, I have removed the statement regarding a planned assessment. I fear that I am not able to understand what you mean by "indeed influenced establishment of any institution" - I request elaboration on this. Thank you, KCVelaga (talk) 19:19, 1 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, the claim that foreign countries want to implement is an opinion. There's no WP:RS for that. Secondly, no independent evaluation of course yet, nor is there any reliable report on benefits/shortcomings of the course. What was the objective of course and how much of that has been received? No recognition from any board yet... CBSE or ICSC - State boards haven't introduced it officially yet, except Delhi. There are lots of red links. Sources like Logical Indian are RS? They are not. Critical evaluation of sources can trim article by half. Article says "The program is run in over a thousand Government of Delhi schools;[19][20] according to Sisodia, "Mindfulness is practised by all 8 lakh pupils everyday ... "[21] Many teachers and parents have reported the pupils’ interest in academics and their behaviour has improved because of the curriculum." How's that any "impact"? How's Manish Sisodia a reliable source? And how's research department of Delhi a reliable source for a curriculum designed by government of Delhi? Launch was attended by Dalai Lama and school was visited by Melania. So does it means it becomes automatically notable? Is there anyone who talk about this course and its impact other than Sisodia and Delhi Government related sources? All newspapers only mention that this is a course by Delhi government and what Delhi government says about it. "The curriculum teaches mindfulness, social-emotional learning, critical thinking, problem solving and relationship building. It has been introduced so pupils build their emotional awareness and incorporate that into decision making, with an objective to equip pupils with the necessary skills and environment to become purpose-driven and explore a nuanced idea of happiness," Is it sourced? "A 40-strong team of professionals, including teachers from Government of Delhi schools, psychologists, education consultants, volunteers and the State Council of Educational Research and Training. This team also included senior officials from the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi and people from NGOs such as Labhya Foundation, Dream A Dream, Blue Orb Foundation, Mind Plus Foundation and Abhibhavak Vidyalaya. This team was guided by Sisodia." How is it worth mentioning? Again I would like to say that it should be merged with Education in Delhi. Or if Manish Sisodia is so important that 7+ mentions are required, and particulars and evaluations, of course, is not required, then why not merge this to Manish Sisodia? After all this curriculum is all about what Sisodia has done and said and not about what it actually has done... killer bee14:17, 4 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • I have made changes to reduce emphasis on a single person (mentions are now mostly in references), however, I am withdrawing this nomination. But I believe that the subject passes WP:GNG, and happy to work to cleanup the article as per encyclopaedic standards. KCVelaga (talk) 18:37, 15 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
AfD is not gonna be helpful for discussing a merger since AfD mostly runs for a week. I would better start a discussion on talk page and propose merge. killer bee09:07, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Ashishkafle: if you believe the article is not ready for a main-page appearance, then please open a merge discussion now. I'm hesitant to honor the nominator's request to withdraw the nomination if you cannot garner sufficient interest in merging. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 10:39, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nomination is now on hold since a merger discussion is in progress. Flibirigit (talk) 04:07, 19 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

  •   I made a bunch of copy edits. I have also weighed in on the revamped merger discussion: I don't see a valid rationale there. The article is fine and in principle there is nothing to prevent it from getting on the main page. The lead is fine, and all the statements in there seem verified well enough. As far as I'm concerned this is a go: Drmies (talk) 23:55, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Online Cub Scout meeting. The dog was just being extra. Yoninah, that hook is awful. It should simply be rewritten as this:
  • That's a simple rephrase, and it's verified in the article. I would think that such a simple copyedit should be uncontroversial... BTW I am going to have a look at the DYK that was reviewed by the nominator. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 00:04, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • OK, I am ready to approve ALT2, but the source does not say that Nepal and UAE have implemented the program, just that they are considering it. The hook seems rather dull for an image slot. Here is an alt idea:
  • ALT5: ... that 1.6 million students in India practice mindfulness, one of the components of the Happiness Curriculum (class pictured), every day? Yoninah (talk) 18:23, 2 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Yoninah, I appreciate your work here, and you're right about Nepal and UAE--I'm sorry, I should have caught that. But...but...the 1.6 million, that's according to the official who devised the plan. If we agree that "the government" wouldn't lie about that (and I suppose we can, since the government should know how many students there are, and the thing is part of the curriculum), we can accept this. But there's also the matter of the photographs--I don't think this should get an image slot, with its rather generic pictures. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:16, 3 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • @Drmies and Yoninah: Proposing a new hooks, that states "in Delhi", as this prevalent in Delhi only, and all the statements of officials are of Delhi state government. Please see if that is okay, rather than stating it for the whole country.

Merge to Education in Delhi

edit

Education in Delhi is relatively a small article where this subject can be covered since it hasn't received any evaluation from independent sources yet. killer bee06:47, 17 July 2020 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by K6bee9 (talkcontribs) Reply

Agrahar Nagraj Sarman

edit

I have created the redirect Agrahar Nagraj Sarman to this article, and created the wikidata entry for Shree Agrahar Nagraj Sarman. Is there a RS for his belief system and notability, latin name and hindi name, and specific village of Agrahar, or any mentions on hi.wikipedia.org? Bogger (talk) 11:36, 5 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Happiness curriculum

edit

Happiness Curriculum is an educational program for children studying in nursery to grade eight in schools run by the Government of Delhi since July 2018. The objective is to improve the mental well-being of pupils, and it teaches mindfulness, social-emotional learning, critical thinking, problem solving, and relationship building. Its purpose is to build emotional awareness, to support decision making with that emotional awareness, to equip pupils with the necessary skills and environment to become purpose-driven, and explore a nuanced idea of happiness. The introduction of the curriculum into government schools of Delhi has been called a reformative step towards school education in India. 45.118.158.207 (talk) 03:20, 23 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
