Edit Request for Joely Proudfit Page

• What I think should be changed:

In the original article version last edited on 25 July 2024, replace "Born as a part of the Pechanga Band of the Luiseño Mission Indians from the Ngeesikat clan,[1] Proudfit spent her childhood in Southern California with her father and then several extended family members after her mother was incarcerated. " to "Proudfit (Luiseño/Payómkawichum and Tongva) spent her childhood in Southern California, overcoming food and housing insecurity as well as familial instability to graduate from high school. In doing so, Proudfit became the first member of her immediate family to earn a high school diploma."

• Why it should be changed:

It is incorrect that Proudfit spent her childhood with her father. In addition, Proudfit identifies as Luiseño/Payómkawichum and Tongva.

Hi, thanks for suggesting changes through edit requests. In the future, please do so before, not after, you make the changes. I know it's an annoying process but we need to make sure that all changes are reviewed by independent editors before they go up. I've rolled the page back to the version before you worked on it - you can find your changes in the history.

I have partly done this request - I can't find any mention that she identifies as Tongva in the source given, could you provide another one? Additionally I've rephrased it slightly. If you'd like to suggest further changes, you can open another edit request, but don't make the change before another editor approves it. Rusalkii (talk) 18:25, 16 August 2024 (UTC)

Could yu suggest a wording? I don't want to just use a parenthetical because that's confusing with no context, but I'm not sure if just adding Tongva ("Born as part of the ... and the Tongva.") would be correct. Rusalkii (talk) 19:16, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
