FU has a name change.

It is called the throw back and the attitude adjustment

According to a Jim Ross blog, Cena will now call the FU, The Throwback. Isnt that weird considering that Cena has hat front flip neck snap called the Throw Back?

Now the FU has been renamed once again, should it still be listed as Throwback in the "In Wrestling" section, alongside Attitude Adjuster and FU, as it has (although briefly) still been known as this too? RebirthThom 22:49, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

No More "Word Life"?

I noticed the other night that he no longer uses the "Word Life" hand signs. Now he's using something that looks like the "OK" sign (thumbs and index touching, all other fingers up). Shouldn't whatever this new taunt means or symbolizes be stated? I would do it myself but, truthfully, I have no idea where it came from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.60.255.89 (talk) 02:26, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Its not notable what the background of the taunt is. Even if you add it, it would be considered original research and would come from a point-of-view, and would probably be removed. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 22:13, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

His new taunt is the SSI diver trainer "Ok" signal used for under water to ask your buddy if he is ok and to say your okay if asked. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Devilfreak12 (talkcontribs) 20:30, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Actually I think it means Hustle. Loyalty. Respect. Since there are 3 words & 3 fingers left up. Those words usually surround that hand sign on his shirts & posters. Thats my opinion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mkcduck (talkcontribs) 05:23, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

I always assumed the new taunt was derived from the USMC salute, as it was right around the time that The Marine was released when he started using it. Spartan198 (talk) 20:54, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Attitude Adjustment

Just what is it? The page says "Standing takeover or powerslam", even though I never saw it as the later. But now he is using a sitout variation of the standing takeover. He did it twice in one week, once on Kane and once on the Big Show. I'm just thinkin' that it should be changed on the page as well. --Oxico (talk) 12:55, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Attitude Adjustment

I'm just curious to know, why did Cena change the name of the FU to the Attitude Adjustment? Save Us.Y2J

Sadly this is not a forum! I believe it was changed due to the PG thingy as the old finisher meant something kids aren't meant to say Adster95 17:16, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

My guess is that they changed the names of the FU and the STFU so kids wouldn't be repeating that stuff, if you have noticed the ratings on the shows have gone down from tv-14 to tv pg in the U.S. Just an educated guess. • If you (or anyone) can source the fact he's single to a reliable source, then it can be added to his personal life section. (I have no knowledge as to whether Despierta America would be considered such or not, which is why I clarify that it needs to be sourced to a reliable source). • Just an additional note; Janice79 is talking about this: http://cenacentral.com/2009/03/11/john-on-despierta-america/. From looking at the scant amount of information, I don't know whether it's a firm "the engagement is off" or him joking/flirting/speaking as his ring persona as opposed to his real life persona. I bet that upcoming interviews given to promote his new movie will provide better answers regarding this, and until then, I feel we should hold off on changing anything in the personal life section.Raven1977Talk to meMy edits 23:53, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Despierta America is a morning talk show, which is credible, like any other morning talk shows. I found another source regarding his engagement and it is from the Miami Herald, a reliable source. Wikipedia generally isn't meant to be a crystal ball for the future. Things that are almost certain NOT to happen shouldn't be mentioned in particular. 3pointswish (talk) 03:18, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I have to agree on the issue that Wikipedia is not a crystal ball that predicts the future, but what I think LifeStroke means is that it is worth mentioning. Cena seems to have some sort of personal vendetta against the Rock, stating that he, for lack of a better word, betrayed the WWE by claiming how much he loved it then leaving it silently to pursue an acting career. I don't think the challenge itself is necessary, nor am I saying that his feelings about the Rock should be states here either, but are definitely worth considering.--Lord Dagon (talk) 20:28, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Except that it will likely come to nothing, The Rock isn't lacing up his boots for WWE any time soon. Give it a few weeks, and anyway WMXXVI isn't for a year, so there is some crystalballing in putting it in. Darrenhusted (talk) 20:46, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

There should be some reference, under Controversy or Fued, something to that degree because there has been public interviews about the issue. This is John Cena's feelings about people who were the flagship company man who lived the company, ate the company, and breathed the company to basically not give back. John is the new company man and he is sticking up for WWE. There should be some acknowledgement. When the next Wrestlemania comes, we will see. Like said the Rock doesnt need, nor doesnt care about lacing up. So this may go nowhere. But none the less is still relevant. BlackScreaminMachine (talk) 17:15, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect

In the Personal Life section, it mentions that John Cena revealed he is engaged. I feel that this is unneccesary, even with citation, as there have been several reports claiming this, and other interviews with Cena where he has stated that he is not in a relationship. With two opposing statements from the main subject, it is pointless for this to be mentioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.236.169.50 (talk) 02:42, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

John Cena married.

Hey just started this account, so I need to request this edit.

John Cena was married the evening of July 11th at the Boston Harbor Hotel, with a reception taking place at the same location. He walked out of the wedding area to a piper playing "Scotland the Brave" and had Triple H as well as Vince McMahon in attendance.

This coincided with the Sail Boston event near the ships Pride of Baltimore, and Europa berthed at Rowes Pier. (I saw this while eating dinner. :) ) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbmata (talkcontribs) 04:01, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

I doubt it. If John Cena won the Title, then we can say what I said is DEFINITELY worth mentioning but of course, the most important thing is SOURCES and not just any sources but RELIABLE SOURCES. Although I hate it but sources are important like without any sources, there is no proof that for example if John Cena actually accidentally killed someone and you just state it like that, it will OF COURSE be removed which is like without any EVIDENCE or PROOF in Detective, Police and Inspector cases, you cannot arrest the criminals you think that are the criminals. That's all I can say. 60.50.176.192 (talk) 07:45, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Cena got his rematch on RAW the night after, but Sheamus disqualified himself by grabbing the ref. Therefore, Sheamus retained and Cena 'lost' his rematch. 98.214.80.128 (talk) 08:20, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

While I probably couldn't source it without some original research, I know enough about tracing genealogy to be able to answer this one. Cena's father is fully Italian. Cena's mother is not. Cena's maternal grandfather was baseball player Tony Lupien, who was born to French Canadian parents and even has a Wikipedia entry (his obituary, which mentions his daughter, Carol Cena, is here). Cena's maternal grandmother was Lupien's first wife, Natalie Nichols. Maybe she was Irish. Or maybe not. Wasn't able to trace her back further. I know there has been information posted in the past regarding what wrestlers do at house shows, like when Tyler Reks first turned heel, it was during his work in house shows, and it was posted on his page.   Declined Like Darrenhusted has stated above, unless there is a source - and some rumors floating around from house shows do not count, basically meaning unless it appears on TV, it's a no. It's not about being "stubborn". This is a encyclopedia with a level of quality control. Not a rumor mill where half the articles are copied and pasted amongst different "news" sites. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 00:31, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

But the problem is none of those confirm that he has appeared as such, and that it has been him. Plus, it's only one source, and a dubious one at that. They even admit themselves to be a rumor site. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 21:14, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
Just as a further example, I'll cite this article from the same site: "Part of the reason CM Punk was added to the RAW announce team is because Vince McMahon is high on a three-man team.". Are you serious? You know this how? Source? Come on, what sense of proper journalism is occurring here? ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 21:18, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, those "Sources" above are only rumors, but fans who appeared at house shows have confirmed that John Cena is working under the new gimmick of "Juan Cena". Not only that, but the booking sheets for next week's KOTR episode include the name as well, and I doubt it's a coincidence. So I'm assuming he will make an appearance on that night. I guess the best thing to do, which would work out well for all, is to wait and see if he uses the gimmick on TV, and if he does, then add it. But like I said, it's up to you guys, if house show activity is something you see as needing to be added, then I suggest add it, but if it seems unimportant, then leave it be. 74.129.253.192 (talk) 04:25, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Just on a separate note, with regards to the ongoing Nexus storyline, it should be mentioned that WWE.com is NOT a valid source in this situation. WWE.com is used to push storyline and thus is as much a part of the ongoing work as any WWE RAW, Smackdown, or any PPV. Remember, this is the same website that reported Jeff Hardy to be found unconscious in a hotel stairwell in order to push a scenario at Survivor Series, a tactic which was found to be utterly tasteless by many media outlets who took the story literally (1, 2, 3, 4) and earned a most disgusting tactic of the year award from The Wrestling Observer. For anyone is interested in this specific news posting, it remains available on WWE.com. Just a little something to keep in mind. Sometimes, the lines are blurred. Yes, in a small notation with a very specific mention of it being part of the storyline and not one but two verifiable sources. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 03:59, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

WWE ROSTER page, here on Wiki. You must have misread. 82.21.196.236 (talk) 18:59, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
True, on the page for WWE Employees, it states that he has been working house shows under the name. So I say either use that as a reason to add it, or delete it from that page. I vote for the former. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.129.253.192 (talk) 20:49, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
To the user posting from 74.129.253.192, I suggest reading this. Also, Wikipedia articles citing each other has always been looked down upon for the better part of the existence of this encyclopedia, and is, for all intents and purposes, outright forbidden. I suggest looking at WP:CS, WP:RS, WP:V, Irregardless, that article has itself been a battleground as I've seen it go from John Cena entirely removed, to John Cena on Smackdown, to John Cena on NXT, to John Cena as Juan Cena and everything in between. It's probably not the best place to look for validation of a point. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 22:41, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
Lol, I didn't literally mean "Vote" in that sense, I meant I think it's the best thing to do. Like I said before, I think all activity, regardless of whether it be on TV or not, deserves to be put on the page. If someone is working as a heel at house shows, do you not think it should be right to post that said wrestler is currently working as a heel at house shows? Or do non-televised events not matter? P.S, if anyone still has doubts about Cena performing as this gimmick, here is your proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.129.253.192 (talk) 00:58, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
No doubts at all. The only question is notability. That's why I just suggested waiting till it hit TV as typically, house show events do not carry over. Hence, they are usually disregarded (see other wrestler related articles for examples of such). Especially with regard to if a wrestler is working as a heel at house shows but as a face during televised shows. Such is generally seen as not notable and not mentioned. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ② talk 02:11, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Okay, it defiantly shouldn't be included, the WWE are officially nixing the "Juan Cena" persona, as it wasn't getting over with the fans, guess old school type storylines aren't very popular these days. 74.129.253.192 (talk) 22:00, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

THIS NEVER HAPPENED

In the music section, something on the last line says Promotion for the album lead to Cena being the only professional wrestler to ever perform on BBC Two's long running Top of the Pops.[181]

The citations refers to a dead link which seems to be about 12 rounds put in some time around 2009, but i've noticed this top of the pops reference has been here since 2007. I have also checked this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_performances_on_Top_of_the_Pops and cannot find anything. I remember his music video being feautured on the show once in 2006 but do not ever remember anything about a performance, so should this be removed or am i missing something, also the first page of my best friend google didnt get me anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.218.69.152 (talk) 20:12, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

For starters, another Wikipedia article should never be used to cite a source, especially considering how terribly source (aka: Not at all) that one is. As for you being unable to find it on Google, to that, I've got nothing for you. I'll fact tag it. If no one can provide a source within a reasonable time-frame, I or someone else will remove the statement. ⒺⓋⒾⓁⒼⓄⒽⒶⓃ 01:12, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Make-A-Wish Foundation

John Cena has been awarded the Chris Greicius Award from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, an award given each year to celebrities who have done the most to fulfill wishes. He has also filled more that 200 wishes of kids who want to meet him. Is this notable enough to put in the article? Hanxu9 (talk) 21:30, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't think we can list him as Albanian. Wikipedia is user edited so that can be used especially since there is no source. The second source only states that it is possible that he is Arbereshe which is an ethic group that moved to Italy in the 1500's and took on Italian names but offers no evidence that this is the case for Cena's family. That article is also sourced to another article which does not even mention the possibility of Cena be Albanian and only mentions his Italian-American heritage meaning the site in question is adding info not in the original source and offers no evidence as to why they think Cena's family was Arbereshe. In short the sourcing is too weak.--70.49.81.140 (talk) 18:47, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
I disagree with this. All that's been given here are a Croatian gossip website and another website stating he's possibly of Albanian descent. This is extremely flimsy and doesn't hold up to WP:V. ☆ Antoshi ☆ T | C 06:38, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Divorce

I feel it should be included, as almost every celeb news source out there is reporting this and it is confirmed by Cena's people, he and his soon-to-be-ex-wife came to a settlement in regard to their divorce terms on June 18th of this year.

On another note, I read in several sources, unconfirmed by wwe or cena himself that he and his wife were quietly separated for over a year and a half prior to divorce filings. It is stated that he lived in the Tampa house and she was in Massachusetts. she was also reportedly asked not to make major charges while seperated (home renovations?). I guess the thought was more time apart and no $ for wife would fix everything. Brilliant plan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.156.200 (talk) 09:46, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

It should also be added that they have not reconciled. The only thing they buried the hatchet over was their drama regarding the divorce. His reception

Should there not be a mention of his rather drastic polarising reception from audiences in this article? Unintentional Animosity

I visited the article to get a better understanding as to why Cena has such a ferverant base of detractors. Perhaps I didn't catch it, but I don't think there is anything on this. Now, to someone not familiar with pro wrestling, this might seem to be an odd concern. However, unlike 99% of pro wrestlers that are villianized, Cena has almost always been portrayed as naturally witty, athletic, strong, tough, and an all-around good guy. I would say in the past twenty years I've been watching pro wrestling, he is one of maybe three or four wrestlers that the crowd (well, roughly half of them) refuse to give a chance (anymore). I have some guesses as to why the audience is so hotly divided on this issue, but I'd like some confirmation. And because of his notibility, and the rarity of situation (his is almost always the highest selling merchandise, yet boos tend to drown out cheers when he appears), I consider this sensation of detractors to likewise be notable, and worthy of inclusion. I just don't know where it should go. Please do not confuse this idea with a fan wanting to express his views of the performer, one way or another. It's the diametric nature of this phenomenon that seems important. Thoughts? Yookaloco (talk) 01:14, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I agree that it's a notable point that the reactions to John Cena are divisive. CM Punk has a section relating to his gimmick, I suggest John Cena is also given one. In this gimmick section you would theoretically be able to define Cena's past and current gimmicks and the reactions to them, positive and/or negative. --FLStyle (talk) 22:19, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

There was a section on this article years ago named "Fan Backlash." It was a fact, and even the WWE and its personnel would admit to it on live broadcasts. But yet, wikipedia editors refuse to put this section in (mostly biased Cena fans) and refuse to place real truth in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Angelov14 (talkcontribs) 05:38, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Fred Movies 12 Aug 2013

It's not a big deal but the paragraph addressing his role on Fred: The Movie, it only says that he was in the first one. Just figured since he reprised his role for Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred and Fred 3: Camp Fred and that those movies are in my opinion extremely funny and were a hit for Nickelodeon that it should be mentioned as a trilogy and not just the first one. :)

The article mentions elsewhere the other films he was in. — Richard BB 15:54, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit Reason: Cena does not hold the company record as the 14-time overall champion. The company record is 16 set by Ric Flair which WWE recognizes as said, "Flair is officially recognized by WWE, TNA, and PWI as a 16-time World Heavyweight Champion." This can actually be found on the wikipedia site at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ric_Flair. It is also well known in the industry and often said on their programming. His introduction should read as follows:

John Felix Anthony Cena[3] (born April 23, 1977)[4] is an American professional wrestler, bodybuilder, rapper, and actor. He is signed to WWE,[5] where he is the current World Heavyweight Champion in his third reign and a 14-time world champion overall. The second highest ever after Ric Flair who holds the company record as a 16-time overall champion. BodyReality (talk) 03:45, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Not done Ric Flair only won two world titles in the company (WWE). His other 14 reigns were from NWA and WCW. Although Flair has more overall reigns, Cena has won more specifically in the company.LM2000 (talk) 03:51, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

I still feel this is misleading since on an article on the WWE official website | http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/wwerecords/, still states Ric Flair as the company record holder. Someone reading the wiki page will think otherwise. If not removed than it needs to be clarified that it is only taking into account WWE/World Heavyweight championships and not what the company recognizes.

The citation is as follows: "For the better part of the past 35 years, Flair has been "Wooooo!" --ing his way to the top of sports-entertainment, "stylin' and profilin'" with more World Championship reigns than any other Superstar. His greatness has been second to none and his battles with such names as Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Vader, Hulk Hogan, Ricky Steamboat and his friend, Triple H, have become as legendary as "The Man" himself. Such in-ring accomplishments have become second nature for the "Nature Boy," who hopes to once again hit the top of Space Mountain." [1]

Please reevaluate the wording by viewing the provided documentation. Thanks,

[6]

It says he won more world championships than any other superstar, which is true, but that doesn't necessarily mean he holds the "company record" which John Cena clearly now holds.LM2000 (talk) 13:18, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

EDIT REASON: Further documentation for using the nickname, "Face of the WWE" is needed. "The Face of the WWE" is a nickname given by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to Randy Orton not John Cena. Although, outside of wrestling John Cena may be considered the Face of WWE, inside the ring, that nickname belongs to someone else. Reference in an article from a bleacher report columnist is not sufficient enough to provide him this label. One example of WWE latest use of Randy Orton's nickname as "The Face of the WWE" can be found here: | http://fansided.com/2013/10/21/wwe-raw-randy-orton-vs-daniel-bryan-contract-signing/

Please remove the nickname "Face of the WWE." John Cena's nicknames should read as follows:

  • Nicknames
    • "The Cenation Leader"
    • "The Champ" (as champion)

Not done I noticed you make this edit a few days ago. Cena has, in fact, been referred to as "the face of the company" numerous times over the past several years and I can recall Michael Cole referencing him as such. The angle in which Randy Orton is in currently specifically relates him as "the face of the company" simply to further the storyline. Albeit Orton can be considered one of the faces of the company, there's no doubt that Cena is as well. Antoshi 15:36, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Done As detailed below in Talk:John_Cena#The_Face_of_WWE. Thank you, BodyReality for bringing it up. "The Face of the WWE" is patently not one of Cena's wrestling nicknames, the citation provided does not claim it is, and it shouldn't have been added. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 05:05, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

The Face of WWE

With the entire angle of Orton turning heel and then Orton vs. Cena, "face of the company" has come up a lot. My comments above didn't quite explain it correctly enough. Being called the "face of the company" is not something that was invented for the angle - it doesn't even apply to just WWE. It's a buzz term. It's a nickname for him not simply for his character or to further an angle, but a nickname applied to him in real life.
Being the face of the company means that when people see Cena's face, they think of WWE. When they think of WWE, they think of John Cena. John Cena is associated with all things WWE. He's one of the biggest stars they have and have had for years now - there's no disputing that. When someone carried that sort of "name brand" power for the company or industry they work for, they are the face of that company. It's the same thing as saying Jordan was the face of the NBA in the 90's or Tiger Woods as the face of the PGA.
The associated citation next to the "Face of the WWE" nickname in the article explains it in greater detail. Therefore, I do not believe that "Face of the WWE" should be removed or listed as not current for John Cena's nicknames. Antoshi 02:38, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

"The Face of the WWE" is not stated to be a nickname of John Cena's by the citation given. Therefore I've removed it from the nicknames subsection. ŞůṜīΣĻ¹98¹Speak 05:00, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

12 Vs 15

See, the thing is that I'm not really a fan of WWE or John Cena. That means that I don't know an awful lot about it - and when I see a change from one number to another I have to rely upon available sources to confirm what I'm reading.

In this case, all the sources available - and used in the article itself - confirm that he has 12 WWE championships. For example - this page here [2] which is used as a reference for his 12 titles (which was changed to 15) clearly shows that he has 12.

I'm also aware that Wikipedia cannot be a source for itself, but List of WWE World Heavyweight Champions - which is plenty sourced - only shows 12. Chaheel Riens (talk) 10:14, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Until 2013, WWE had two world heavyweight championships, the WWE Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship (WWE). They were unified into a single championship 2013 and became the "WWE World Heavyweight Championship", although they only maintain the lineage of the WWE Championship whilst the World Heavyweight Championship was retired. Cena has held the WWE Championship 12 times and held the now retired World Heavyweight Championship three times. Because they're both recognized as world championships that would make him a 15 time champion overall.LM2000 (talk) 10:31, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough - then the article needs to establish this as well at least in passing, because otherwise the sources don't back up such a claim, and is confusing.
For example, if we say that the two titles have now been unified, then why do we make a specific claim that he has held 15 titles - 12 + 3, then in the next sentence make the distinct claim that he's held 3 heavyweight titles? If the titles are unified, why do we separate them? These edits are not simply a case of changing "12" to "15" but the page needs modifying as well to clarify these details.
This is not directed at you, LM2000 (who I thank for the clarification), but Ash, who could probably have also clarified that, but instead just kept reverting without updating the other parts of the page. Chaheel Riens (talk) 10:39, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

A minor detail. It lists John Cena as being a six time U.S Champion at the top of the page, in actuality he is a five time U.S Champion. Furthermore, I would recommend changing "which is a record since WWE came into ownership of the title in 2001" to "a record under the WWE banner" or just "a company record." Also in the Various Championship reigns and pursuits section there appears to be a box on the side marked with "Pro Wrestling Dot Net analyst Will Pruett in July 2015" which offers no relevance to the topic and should be deleted. He is no Bueno which is why he is only a five time U.S Champion. No other reason besides the fact that this man is no Bueno and deserves nothing besides being called no Bueno. That is all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.80.156.47 (talk) 13:24, 6 October 2015 (UTC) 2001:8003:620E:9D00:697B:FA92:DF64:46DF (talk) 06:15, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

For the first part of your request,   Already done. For the second part,   Done. For the third part,   Not done: it seems relevant to me because the box and related section both refer to feuds. Best, Mww113 (talk) 00:17, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

15 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion

@LM2000: in Special:Diff/691954869 removed information from the page which I believe are reliable sources that Cena is considered a 15-time WWEWHW champ:

Burdick, Michael (2 April 2015). "Who deserves to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Title?". WWE.com. John Cena is a 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion
"John Cena". WWE.com. He's a 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion

He has asserted that they have separate histories, which is irrelevant. The belief that Cena is not 15-time WWE World Heavyweight championship comes original research whose conclusion conflicts with a consistent contradiction from WWE itself.

WWE's page for the current title says that the lineages merged. Ranze (talk) 07:33, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Father's descent

This story, by Rebeccah Pearson, makes the following mention: Another incredible thing that I learned about John, Sr. is that every year he plays Santa Claus for local charities, passing the love of the holiday season to those that need a little extra love around the holidays. It began around the early years when he was 15 years old because he grew up in an Italian area, and no one spoke Italian, so he would go around speaking to the children in Italian keeping the holiday magic alive.

Other sources, such as "The Richest", "Ethnicelebs" and "IMDB" say Italian descent. "cena" is Italian for supper. All points to Italian descent. Now, Usuiko (talk · contribs) made the following edit, claiming that his father is also of Albanian descent. The sources Usuiko (since blocked) used are all terribly unreliable, most based on Rusev's speech in Bulgarian which Albanian pseudo-press speculate having included mentioning "Kosovo"... Which clearly isn't the case (in the comments, however, people are going crazy, kinda funny). I have reverted Usuiko's edit, and just wanted to note this in case of future disruptive editing.--Zoupan 01:03, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

U.S. Champion and Injury (2015-2016)

I fixed a minor error in this section, which stated that Cena would miss a WrestleMania for the first time since 2005, marking an end to his 11-year streak of competing at the event. It's actually the first WrestleMania he'll miss since 2003's WrestleMania XIX, whuch he was not booked on, marking an end to a 12-year streak (he defeated Big Show @ WrestleMania XX for the United States Championship). — Preceding unsigned comment added by ADg2k14 (talkcontribs) 04:56, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

John Cena

John Cena & Tha Trademarc Mark Predka has tracks that not many know because they aren't mainstream as You Can't See Me on his album from 13 years ago.. such as: Beats,Rhymes and Life,Vocal Recess. John Cena has done the single Hustle,Loyalty and Respect but it is unclear when it was released to the media as WWE only allowed Cena's PG aka Censored versions of his music to play for the longest even though John Cena's Music can be Uncut aka Explicit.Philiptheleo (talk) 15:46, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

There is a typo in the Doctor of Thuganomics (2002–2003) section. Specifically in the second sentence: Cena made his WWE television debut on the June 27, 2002 episode of SmackDown! by answering an open challenge by Kurt Angle, ad after declaring that he possessed "ruthless aggression", Cena gave Angle a hard fight and only lost by a pinning combination.

The underlined and bolded word should be "and." Dudemancer (talk) 01:41, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Full name

The source cited for his name only provides a divorce filing which lists him as "John F. Cena". I can't find any reliable sources online for "John Felix Anthony Cena". —Guanaco 02:00, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

I searched the article history and found a previous reference to the documentary John Cena: My Life. I watched it until about 2:00, and his father, captioned as "John Cena", said what sounded like "John Fenix Anthony Cena". —Guanaco 04:34, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

@DBZFan30: Looking at this article history, the name Felix was first added to the Wikipedia article by an IP address back in 2004. I'm not sure about Biography.com as a reliable source; they seem to mass produce biographical content without citing any of their own sources.

I could be completely wrong about all of this, but I want to be sure we got it right. I mean his name is John Cena, but John what Cena? There's too much potential for us to have created a circular reference. —Guanaco 05:04, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
