Tocharian B

edit

I don't know what the issue is here with calling this language Tocharian B (even though it's likely a misnomer, but still). In the field, we refer to this language as Tocharian B. West Tocharian has been out of use since the 60s, and I have only seen 'Kuchean' once in the literature. The person who cited Fortson (2004:351) for calling the language, in scholarly literature, 'West Tocharian or Kuchean' didn't read that page, as it says "[f]rom that area and farther southwest around Kuča (Kucha) comes Tocharian B, also called West Tocharian or Kuchean." So...I've fixed that. But again, I think that most people call this Tocharian B in Indo-European linguistics, and I would love to know what the author of this page has against that appellation...

@Vindafarna:, again, well, while I did not sart the page, I was the one to develop it a bit more, with the further reading section at first, then dared myself to expand it at least with nomenclature and distribution of the sites where the attestations are located.KHR FolkMyth (talk) 01:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@KHR FolkMyth Ah, so we meet again. It's good that you have been doing so much work in these areas. You've done all of the hard work; I've just come along and fixed things a bit. If you're interested in this stuff, come to my talk page and we can chat about some stuff. It's always nice to find people interested in IE studies.
