Asia list missing number of launches
editFor some reason Asia's list of launchpads is missing a column for the number of launches for each pad. This is the most critical column for many types of inquiries into the subject covered by this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.82.144.227 (talk) 18:36, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
Merging two set of lists
editThis list of rocket launch sites is created by merging the contents of List of spaceports and Rocket launch site in a loss-less way. The two original set of lists contained a lot of duplicated information, without any clear reason for the existance of two separate lists. The former one was a more detailed table with about 50 entries. The second one contained about 200 entries, but with less information for each entry. Further work is needed to harmonize the two sets of information and to remove duplications. Note that I have also constructed two tables within the article spaceport which give more detailed information on the relatively few sites that have achieved human and orbital flights. /216Kleopatra (talk) 12:14, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Table column widths
editAll the tables have column widths which add up to 113%. I suspect they were originally 100% each, and another column of width 13% was added to each one with none of the other columns being adjusted. Two columns have width 13%: they are "Operational date" and "Coordinates". --Redrose64 (talk) 22:53, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- This is now fixed, all add up to exactly 100% thanks to 216Kleopatra. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:45, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Proposed Additional Columns
editIn order to make the tables more informative on the capabilities and launch frequencies of the various sites, I propose inclusion of three additional columns:
1. Total number of rocket launches
2. Highest altitude reached (km)
3. Heaviest rocket launched (kg)
When appropriate, an altitude in item two would be replace by "orbital", "lunar", or "interplanetary". 216Kleopatra (talk) 11:54, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
- If further columns are added, then the previous thread on column widths becomes more urgent. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:30, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
The three columns have now been inserted into all tables. 216Kleopatra (talk) 11:46, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
Going ahead with the merger
editI am going ahead and merging the article List of spaceports into this article. The user Jamie C who had created the page seems to be inactive. Some of the spaceports in the list were already present in this article. I have given reasons for why I excluded a particular entry below:
- No update on rebranding of Ellington Airport (Texas) as Houston Spaceport in the article.
- No update on planning or construction of British commercial spaceport in the article.
- Added Cecil Airport and Edwards Air Force Base to the list Additional rocket launch sites in North America.
- Didn't find any citation or references for Kalamata Spaceport at the List of spaceports article or any mention about it at the Kalamata Airport article. Can be added later.
- Didn't find any mention of rocket launches in the article Moffett Federal Airfield so excluded it from the list.

SpaceX Boca Chica Launch Site
editNow that SpaceX has launch a rocket to a height of 12.5km, should we now move this from planned or proposed to an active launch site?
For the number of launches, should we also just include the launch of Starship prototype SN9 (to 12.5km) or also the launces of Starship prototype SN5 and SN6 (to 150km) and the two untethered launches of the Starhopper prototype?
user:mnw2000 10:20, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
Supported. The designation "rocket launch site" does not necessary require the site to be a spaceport, and given that Boca Chica has already launched six Starship prototypes weighing in excess of a 100 tons... I propose we should include all six launches given all were of substantial size and power. user:FossilDS 16:55, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Silver Space Ports, Arizona?
editWhat is/are the "Silver Space Ports" listed in the North America proposed section supposed to be? It's listed as being in Arizona. Looking up the name does showcase results for the Arizona Spaceport alliance, as well as a newsletter about a spaceport in Yuma and a potential Virgin Galactic hub in Mesa. The Arizona Spaceport Alliance website makes mentions of planning to build a spaceport in the state, but there is no mention of a name. A Spaceport Tuscon comes up, but again, there's seemingly no mention of a "Silver".
EDIT: It apparently links to Joseph City, but there I couldn't find a mention of a potential spaceport there anywhere. Ye9CYNMD (talk) 19:48, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
