Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Blu-Ray release in North America

edit

The text for the release date states, that Actill would release (in the past) the North American Version of the LWA Blu-Ray. As I don't live in the US I can't confirm this release by going to a store. Also Amazon doesn't have any info on a LWA Blu-Ray, so it would help if someone can confirm or deny a release. Until then I have commented out the sentence in question. Setsuna-kun (talk) 23:16, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Character list moved here

edit

Characters not listed in the main TV anime series are posted here. There are only 9 characters (8 if you consider Chariot and Ursula as one) considered main, the rest are episodic. See [1]. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:42, 18 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hannah (ハンナ, Hanna) and Barbara (バーバラ, Bābara)
Voiced by: Eri Nakao (Hannah), Chinatsu Akasaki (Barbara) (Japanese); Jennifer Alyx (Hannah), Alexis Nichols (Barbara)[1] (English)
Diana's schoolmates who constantly idolize and hang around with her, and deride Akko for her lack of magical talent.
Croix Meridies (クロワ・メリディエス, Kurowa Meridies)
Voiced by: Junko Takeuchi
The TV series' prime antagonist, Croix makes her first appearance as the new teacher for Modern Magic at Luna Nova. She is a technomancer who has successfully combined traditional magic with modern technology. In her youth, when she attended the academy, she was also Chariot's best friend and accompanied her in the search of the Grand Triskelion, but was denied access to the Shiny Rod, the key to the Triskelion, because she selfishly desired to become the most powerful witch in the world. Now she works behind the scenes to unlock the Triskelion and obtain its powers for herself by ruthlessly tapping into people's negative emotions as an alternative means of creating magic.
Miranda Holbrooke (ミランダ・ホルブルック, Miranda Horuburukku)
Voiced by: Ikuko Tani
The principal of Luna Nova.
Finnelan (フィネラン, Fineran)
Voiced by: Yurika Yamamoto (Japanese); Eileen Galido[2] (English)
A strict, senior Luna Nova teacher who is frequently aggravated by Akko and her friends' troublemaking.
Lukić (ルーキッチ, Rūkitchi)
Voiced by: Mari Okamoto
The eccentric pharmacology (potions) teacher of Luna Nova.
Badcock (バドコック, Badokokku)
Voiced by: Asami Yano
The diminutive numerology teacher and assistant principal of Luna Nova.
Nelson (ネルソン, Neruson)
Voiced by: Minami Takayama (Japanese); Eileen Galido[1] (English)
The broom-flying instructor of Luna Nova.
Pisces (パイシーズ, Paishīzu)
The teacher for magical philosophy at Luna Nova, who is actually an intelligent goldfish.
Andrew Hanbridge (アンドリュー・ハンブリッジ, Andoryū Hanburijji)
Voiced by: Ryōsuke Kanemoto
The son of the Earl of Hanbridge, who has a family line-related history with Diana. Despite the high prestige of his family name, however, he is not interested in a political career, instead pursuing his desire of becoming a piano player. Initially just as antipathic about magic as his father, he begins to change his mind after encountering Akko and her unshakable faith in her own dreams.
error: {{nihongo}}: Japanese or romaji text required (help)
The propietor of a magic items shop and café in the town close to Luna Nova who purchases, repairs and sells various magical implements, most of which are either of a very temperamental nature or have exceeded their warranty. His appearance is closely patterned on TV star Austin "Chumlee" Russell.[3]
Frank (フランク, Furanku)
Voiced by:
Andrew's schoolmate and best friend at Appleton Academy, who has initially taken a fancy on Diana, but later on becomes interested in Lotte.

Discussion

edit

DanielC46, Andrew is not listed in the characters list as a main character [2], or in cast/staff list, so speculating that he's more than a guest would be original research. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:17, 20 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Andrew has definitely proven himself to be a notable character in the television series, with about four or five episodes with him as a main focus. At the least, it's more than Constanze and Jasminka have gotten. Wonchop (talk) 17:11, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Wonchop should we add recurring characters to the list then and move the main ones to main characters subsection? The entire first season should be out now. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:01, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hmm, if it's just Croix and Andrew, then okay, add those two. I just didn't want to blow it up to 20+ characters as it was. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:22, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, minor characters such as Hannah and Barbara are fine to leave off. It's just that Andrew was notable enough that his exclusion felt odd. Wonchop (talk) 12:39, 28 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Create separate character list

edit

I'd like to suggest the creation of another Wikipedia page listing the Little Witch characters separately, with the sections "Main characters" and "Supporting characters". All other pages about manga/anime do include a more or less complete list of their entire cast, after all. DanielC46 (talk) 07:24, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Are there characters independently notable from the media they appear in? You would need to find some reliable sources independent from the anime and its creators to demonstrate notability.--IDVtalk 07:46, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oppose listing the 9 main characters are good enough for the films and TV show. Even for the TV show, they list those additional characters in the "by episode" section. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:01, 5 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
I still think that, with the plot development of the TV series, just listing the nine characters with the most appearances in the franchise is not enough. Open publication of more background information is required for interested future parties. DanielC46 (talk) 05:11, 30 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
More background information would be helpful for the characters in general. Interviews with the character designer and director would be great. Also if the anime website should expand the character list naturally to cover more recurring characters to warrant splitting it for size as with List of Sword Art Online characters. But as seen on the anime list, they are just given episodic (one and done) appearances. [3] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:34, 5 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Protagonist

edit

@Kazu-kun: WP:PROTAGONIST says the following: If roles are described outside of the plot summary, keep such descriptions concise. Interpretations in the form of labels (e.g. protagonist, villain, main character) should be avoided. A well-written plot summary should convey such roles. Meaning, we can't determine by ourselves that so-and-so is a work's protagonist.--IDVtalk 07:35, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

There are official sources indicated her as the protagonist. It's not an interpretation. If that's your only argument, I'm gonna add the label again with a source. Kazu-kun (talk) 08:36, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Acttil

edit

The first film licensed by acttil, which is acttil? JersyJacob (talk) 00:35, 17 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

It looks like an English division of Trigger, at least according to the archives. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:56, 17 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I stand corrected. It's some publishing company, here's their website: [4]. It looks like they helped produce the Blu-ray for the first film. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:01, 17 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Country

edit

Is it ever mentioned which country Luna Nova is located in? I'd say that (probably partly due to the success of Harry Potter) since most of the school's staff have English names and most of the background text seems to be in English, it's clearly implied to be the British countryside, but perhaps it's never explicitly mentioned. Otherwise, I find it pretty hilarious that Akko's main bullies are called Hannah and Barbara. 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 12:56, 17 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, another episode shows off a bunch of banknotes, where it would appear that the main currency in the outside town would be Manx Pound, decorated with the Isle of Man Triskelion. Rather unexpected... 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 18:22, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
