Oxford?
editScanning the web, I notice a widespread belief that the "Kissed the Teacher" sequence takes place in Oxford. The mass of gowned students on bicycles certainly suggests Oxbridge and the white furred hoods resemble those of Oxford BA's. However, in the real world Oxford does not elect a valedictorian (and neither does any other English university - it is a North American tradition) and the city the students ride through does not particularly resemble Oxford. Furthermore the name "Oxford" is never mentioned once in the movie. In view of this I have changed "Oxford" to "university" in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tunnic123 (talk • contribs) 15:25, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- Yes it is. When it cuts over, it says "New College, Oxford"on the bottom left.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by GOLDIEM J (talk • contribs) 17:13, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

article lists Rosie as "unmarried"
editIsn't she married to Bill Anderson? Kurt, pretending to be Bill, says "I have a wife."Alianoraree (talk) 21:07, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
No. I've always assumed that Rosie implied she wasn't married to Bill with the "Angel Eyes" scene; Sophie also says "what happened between you two"?" and I assumed that to mean breaking up not a separation. EPBeatles (talk) 03:31, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
Segment missing from "PLOT" section ?
editWithin the introductory section entitled "Plot," a sentence appears which seems un-attached to prior or subsequent comments. This irksome sentence is:
- Twenty-five years earlier, when a young Donna has just graduated and getting ready to travel the world (“When I Kissed The Teacher”).
So I wonder if a segment has been removed or misplaced, or whether this sentence belongs elsewhere. I find this far too bewildering and baffling to make a change myself.Prof.Bastedo (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2018 (UTC)

Donna
editSo now it's a fact that Donna really is dead? -- 2600:1000:B120:C42E:D8FB:23D:BDF6:3454 (talk) 02:02, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
The Day Before You Came -- Only On The Download Of The Soundtrack Album
editIt has now been revealed that 'The Day Before You Came' by Meryl Streep is only on the Digital Download of the Soundtrack Album. It is not on the CD of the Soundtrack Album. 86.2.61.136 (talk) 10:57, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
- Where? ChrisWiltrout1 (talk) 20:50, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
- It actually IS on the CD. Here is an example of a picture of the CD's tracklist (slide): https://www.instagram.com/p/BlLOBkGniMD/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=154ghituniszg TioTayumi (talk) 14:10, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'm confused as to where this was stated, as it's clearly on the CD album and Meryl's only solo song from the film too. 2A02:C7F:1405:B100:2480:9916:52B4:2C57 (talk) 02:23, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- Turns out it was a non-movie track. Huh. 2A02:C7F:1405:B100:D41D:6A3E:BF39:3339 (talk) 00:35, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
The director and producer confirmed
editI read that the director and the producer both of the movies confirmed that Bill is Sophie's biological father. Is that gonna be added as a fact or is it just hearsay from them? Arjoccolenty (talk) 02:44, 21 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hearsay. Unless there is direct reference to this, not to mention it being confirmed within the parameters of the movie itself, it shouldn't be considered.
Five years later
editThe article said the story was set 5 years later when I got to it, I have been reverting back to that based on reviews I have read.
- "A decade later, the new movie, which takes place five years later" poughkeepsiejournal
- "Set five years after the events of the first film" Indiewire
- set five years after the first Mamma Mia! Screenrant
Some reviewers and editors are confusing the ten years that have passed in realtime with the five years that have passed in the story. Anyone got the press releases direct from the studio? That should settle the matter if anyone is in any doubt. -- 109.76.186.141 (talk) 04:28, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
- Heres' another article talking generally about how weird the timelines are in the Mamma films, but it also says
- Why on earth did Here We Go Again randomly decide to feature only a five-year gap between films?
Also (P.S. in real life) Cher is only 3 years older than Meryl. It doesn't make any sense, it doesn't really matter though. -- 109.78.242.41 (talk) 16:46, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
- Given the fact that Donna's meant to be around 50 by the time of this film, and Cher is in her 70s, this age gap makes perfect sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:1405:B100:F953:F9BA:D418:6FDF (talk) 17:13, 22 July 2018 (UTC)
Script errors
editI dont want to delete WP:GOODFAITH edits but the whole Script errors section needs to be backed up by some sources or someone else will delete it anyway. There are already people making fun of the weird timeline but I'm not sure that's enough to justify that an encyclopedia article should be explaining those weird plot details. If that section is to survive it needs to be backed up by comments from critics. -- 109.78.242.41 (talk) 00:34, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- ... and it's gone. -- 109.77.213.7 (talk) 12:10, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- The only way this can really be discussed is if critics mentioned plot holes in their reviews, which would then go under "Critical response". Anywikiuser (talk) 08:34, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Complete list of musical numbers in chron. order
editWhy isn't here a complete list in chronical order of the songs in the movie? The lists on this site describe what's on the soundtrack and what's not. That's trivia for the soundrack site but not for the movie site. Maybe a table with selectable columns (movie/ soundtrack/ not on soundtrack / not in movie) would be the best solution. But most important: This site needs a complete list of the musical numbers in the movie in chronical order. --89.1.144.241 (talk) 14:52, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
They are in chronological order as they appear in the movie. ChrisWiltrout1 (talk) 13:12, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Sophie and Sky's Marriage
editIt's never specified in the film that Sophie and Sky are married, especially as their wedding was effectively cancelled in the first film in favor of Donna and Sam's, so is there confirmation the pair are married for the article to reflect this? 5.64.142.224 (talk) 00:24, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
A capella segments
editCan we restore mentions to the brief one-liners/a capella versions of Thank You for the Music, SOS, and Take A Chance on Me in a smaller section under the songs in the film? EPBeatles (talk) 03:32, 5 August 2018 (UTC)
- Why? They weren't on the album or focused on beyond their small parts in this film so they would be an unnecessary addition beyond their emotional impact within the story. All three songs were released as part of the original film (albeit not Omid Djalili's version of Take A Chance of Me!) anyway and included in that album soundtrack. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:1405:B100:5DC5:2E1D:A79E:972 (talk) 02:15, 15 August 2018 (UTC)
Flowchart of Mama Mia2
editThis jpg appears to be a well-meant effort to document the speculative relationship in MM2 between Fernando and Ruby, however it is purely speculative - not factual in nature. The document is not clearly labeled and is rife with errors and inconsistencies, so I removed it.
Errors include spelling: "Steep" (Streep), "Bronson" (Brosnan) and "Donnie Cooper" (Dominic). The name Sam is inconsistently shown in all-caps. The three actors portraying the younger versions of Bill, Harry and Sam were omitted, while Donna's young counterpart is listed. ZouBEini (talk) 07:14, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- They also labelled it 'Mama' instead of 'Mamma', and technically it should also be a (family) tree, not a flow-chart given the nature of the document. Nice effort from whoever made it but unneeded indeed. No point in it. 2A02:C7F:1405:B100:5DC5:2E1D:A79E:972 (talk) 18:02, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Are you sure Sophie and Sky got married?
editThe cast section lists Sky as Sophie's husband. In the previous film, they ended up not getting married, and Donna and Sam did instead. When did Sophie and Sky marry? GOLDIEM J (talk) 09:54, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- We cannot be sure, see above #Sophie and Sky's Marriage. -- 109.76.129.153 (talk) 16:27, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
So, is Fernando Cienfuegos Donna's father and Sophie's grandfather?
editThat's why he's working at the Hotel, if he knows? Their affair was in 1959 and Sophie graduated college in 1979, but you'd think they would have told Sophie after grandma Cher arrived and spent time with Fernando, or she would have figured it out, which would have been a good few second scene. Odd to leave it out unless for the same reason (three choices for Donna's father?). Hmmmmm (this may have been answered already on the play page or somewhere, but I only thought of it after rewatching the film yesterday). Randy Kryn (talk) 04:01, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
