Would like to make a note about his nationality being stated as "Belgian and Dutch" in the opening. For all other multi-national drivers (e.g. Albon, Norris, Ricciardo), the nationality they race under is universally stated first. Just seems like a certain group of fans trying to deride his identity as a Dutchman, even if he has claimed both in the past. Mb2437 (talk) 12:23, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please refrain from issuing accusations of bad faith. The order of his nationalities in the lead has nothing to do with importance. This was discussed in the past and this was retained. Tvx1 14:34, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
My concern is that the point of his nationality is being used as ammunition for abuse across social media, the retaining of this could serve to exacerbate that. The precedent elsewhere should make it clear cut that it's standard to state A before B. Mb2437 (talk) 16:00, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Either way, it is precedent to state the nationality raced under first; the debate regarding driver nationalities in leads is extensive on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Formula One, which VER being the focal point for much of it. There is very much an argument to remove both and simply state he is "a racing driver, who competes under the Dutch flag", per MOS:NATIONALITY alongside the statement of birth in Belgium in the second paragraph of the lead as it is clearly a contentious topic.
