Potential Copyright Issues
editLooks like the content for the article has been taken from http://www.geocities.com/anisharaja/rafimain.html . I didn't find any copyright issues, however it'll be good if the site is credited over here. Jay 14:46, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean, no copyright issues. If we don't have explicit permission to use it, it's illegal, and I can't see any permission.... Morwen 12:39, 23 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- True, this is also what the first issue in Wikipedia:Copyright_issues says. My earlier impression was if a website doesn't have an explicit copyright notice, it's as good as public domain.
- Another Wiki article by the same author (User:Best_Friend) lifted from a website is Dilip_Kumar. But he deleted the article wihout wikifying it. Also he is yet to provide the source of the image he has uploaded. See his talk page for details. Jay 09:38, 27 Nov 2003 (UTC)
- This discussion should be thing of past. I've added much to this article in 2004. Utcursch
Largest number of songs
editThe article says that Mohd Rafi holds the record (along with Lata Mangeshkar) for the largest number of songs recorded. I don't think that is true any more. I remember reading that the Guinness record for the largest number of songs recorded by a male singer is now with S P Balasubramanyam (around 36,000), even though Lata holds the overall record. 12.175.5.133 16:37, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)ashwatha I don't think so.. Rafi still holds largest number of songs
West Indies
editSmall detail but in the first paragraph, West Indies is mentioined as a country. West Indies is a coalition of different countries: Barbadoes, Jamaica etc. Fkh82 22:38, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Categorized Songs Listing
editIs this encyclopedic. In my personal opinion, this is unnecessary for a Wikipedia article; the list is simply unmaintainable. Should it be removed? We can have a list of famous/popular songs instead. Please vote. utcursch | talk 04:34, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Remove the section
edit- Agree. Replace with a famous/popular songs listing. utcursch | talk 04:34, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Agree. Suggestion: Why not convert it into a Wiki list? --Mayuresh 08:11, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Keep the section
editDone. Removed some of the songs and made the section title Famous/popular songs. utcursch | talk 15:21, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Neutral Point of View - this article is totally biased
edityes . re,menber wikipredia had to remove the entry that kishorekumar could not sing "nafarat ki dunika chodke ". composer pyarelal hasd clearly stated that that song was composed with rafi in mind. also raju bhartna' articles are misquoted. ajib data hai teri ye zindagi is not a particular difficult song and in fact Shanker jaikishan made kishore sing the msot popular song of that movie 'hum matwale naujawan " a class apart. Alsoop nayar made rafi sing man mora bawara and not kishore requested. in fact kishore wanted to sing it and he complained but it was alean phase in kishores carear. Wikipedia neds to monitor both kishore nad rafi pages . in the group ofwriters rafi fans have made inroads very subtly. nothing much is writen about kishores deep sad songs and his ecentricities are listed. wikipedia is losing it's credibilty. very cleverly references to raju bharatan and rediff.com etc are inserted in this article on rafi but these are not authentic refreences and they are here say stories and morover some articles like raju bhratan's are actualy saying some thing else .
a very subtle use of refrencing !
This article is totally biased, and desperately needs a rewrite. Madder 00:46, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right. The article reads as if it were written by a demented fan. I don't have time to rewrite it. Can you? Zora 04:36, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's quite a job, and a lot of it does look like it should just be removed. For example the heading 'Mohammed Rafi's rise to glory, his ever lasting supreme caliber and mastery over music and melodies:' - all the text under that seems like gibberish to me. Or is that just me? Madder 17:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. All efforts have been made to make it appear that Rafi was the greatest: ' Kishore Kumar requested Rafi to sing..' "Kishore Kumar could not sing the song despite several efforts" etc are examples quoted without any basis. Rafi does not need these fans to prove his greatness, and if he does, then it stands to reason that it should be accepted as such — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.61.132.22 (talk) 10:00, 5 June 2012 (UTC) wikipedia is absolutely true here and not biased ...because rafi is greater singer than kishore kumar. and it is a fact . no proves needed here....rafi is superior than kishore as God is superior than human...

editJust to say thanks for these edits, there's a lot of new content there. However, it's still very biased: for example, things like describing Rafi as an "extremely humble person" - says who? And also saying "He continues to command the inspiration and adoration of millions of music lovers and innumerable new Bollywood playback singers" - again, says who? That's just an opinion, this is supposed to be an encyclopedia. What is 'millions'? Hope we can get this article improved, cheers, Madder 00:39, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
thanks, as i too aware of things like "He continues to command the inspiration and adoration of millions of music lovers and innumerable new Bollywood playback singers" which was added into previous editions by someone else- actually he is the person who started to put so many sentenses giving a tone of "tribute" rather than encyclopedia.
plz see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mohammed_Rafi&diff=97039614&oldid=90506347
and Venktrajan is the person who started this business!!!!!!!!1 we have to remove such sentences.....

I agree there is a hell lot of things there that is rather look like a memoir by a fan than encyclopedia article! but honestly its not me who has done these usage of language and given a fan site look.. it was given by someone else...i only managed to remove upto that extent only..we have to make it look good...please see very old editions of the same article ..you will see that suddenly some guy had done lot of things in between and it became extremely messes up....thanks

I think that some of you are against Rafi...Well a lot of issues are Facts while some are 'opinions' held by Majority of people. 'Madder' you pointed out:"He continues to command the inspiration and adoration of millions of music lovers and innumerable new Bollywood playback singers" - again, says who? Well it is said by many Including SONU who thinks of RAFI as his GURU. And you again doubt that RAFI was a humble person. Well Madder it is actually your own opinion. Most of the people agree with what is written over here. Well anyone can doubt anything in any article.......anyways it can go on..but Finally RAFI does not neend Wikipedia to Praise him....he Lives in Millions of hearts including mine.....just as Rafi sang "Tum mujhe yun Bhula na pao ge"

The above discussions have lead me to believe that the best compromise to the various points of view and also, to maintain accuracy, is to use quotes from people in the know - Rafi's peers. If they are making these statements, the acusation that this is the work of a demented fan cannot be made. After all if these illustrious people cannot give an opinion on their art (and Rafi) who of us can?
Please read this article. This was written by someone that has been neutral since he has been around when Kishore, rafi, Lata, mukesh or when mannadey sang and please tell me what you think of it.
Why belittle Rafi to praise Kishore?
editLike Shrikant has said some folks have spoken negatively regarding Rafi. I believe that has only been done to praise Kishore Kumar or vice versa. I'm positive those are Kishore fans that are trying to prove something that's not true. Kishore and Rafi are incomparable. Both have had their primes and both are undoubtedly great singers. One may have a preference over the other but that doesn't make the other less talented. You must admit that! So please stop trying to make up your own facts regarding either one of these fine singers and accept them for what they do.
If you like one over the other, that's ok. But please don't go crazy with it and try to persuade others. Because you just CAN'T.
This entire article is extremely biased and should be deleted. It seems to be written by die-hard Rafi fans who are out to prove he is a better Singer. Better than whom ? Why limit your comparision to Kishore only ? Rafi fans would do well to remember that comparing him with Kishore will only elevate Kishore further. In case the aim is to show Rafi as the greatest, then we should say he is better than Mehdi Hassan, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Baiju Bawara, Tansen, etc. why limit him to that, he was greater than Elvis Presley, Julio Englesias, Madonna, the neighbourhood paan wala and not to mention, the janitor. On an objective reading of the article, one would definitely be convinced that Rafi has more rabid fans than any other singer OVER THE INTERNET. Kishore's humility in saying that Rafi was the better singer does not make that the case. We should also remember that Kishore composed a bengali song " She jeno aamar kache aajo boshe aache" on Rafi's death. It goes to show he held Rafi in high esteem. It would be better if such examples are quoted to show what Rafi thought of Kishore. I searched the net and could not find anything. What does that mean ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.61.140.37 (talk) 16:02, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Comments by the singers
editI just read these comments while listening to "Chahoonga Main Tujhe". It truly brought water to my eyes . A man with an excellent character, Rafi Sahab was. May God bless his soul.
Unfortunately my friend, "Madder" decided that this information was "uncited" although the weblink to the author's article was included, but he deemed it spam! Rather than reintroducing the information just for him to cut it again (note their was no comment as to why this was done in this discussion page (the audacity of some people is always a joy to behold), those of you who want to look at it can find this version dated 16 June 2007 under the history tab above or follow this weblink: http://www.screenindia.com/fullstory.php?content_id=10927.
This was my humble attempt to get some clarity to Rafi's legacy from his peers - who better to give a neutral and unbiased opinion on the man then these experts who know their art and are far more informed then any of us. Considering Rafi's popularity around the world 27 years after his death I thought Wikipedia could benefit from an explanation as to why the Rafi pehenomenan exists. Madder made no attempt to discuss the matter with anyone on this forum nor investigate the accuracy of this important information, rather just cut it away - sad but it says something about the chap's motivations I reckon. Perhaps some people just need to get a life...

Is it true Kishore could not sing many songs, that Rafi easily did?
editI've read somewhere that Kishore and Lata, both, were asked to sing Chahoonga Main tujhay and both of them had trouble singing the part " Mitwaa ". Is this true? yes.........! But with lataji only, Kishore was not asked and never approched to sing the same but kishore kumar admitted that he could not sing the "mitwaa". In the film 'haanthi mere saathi',by same music director of dosti,LP, kishore kumar left the recording of "nafrat ki duniya" in middle saying he can`t sing and commented that such a tough song only Rafi sahab can sing...and then Rafi sahab was called who in single take!
sorry lok at interviw of pyarelal he said that this song was composed with only rafi in mind and kishore also knew this thatr afi was no prefered by producers that time . he felt sad and specifically said this is rafi's song. Similarly, Kalyanji Anandji who used give music in Amitabh Bachhan movie with kishore kumar as main singer, was recording for film , Mukkaddar ka sikandar where that last song ,"zindagi to bewafa hai" kishore couldn`t sing.Rafi sahab was called and in hours they finished the recording in Rafi`s voice. sorry it was not thihids the last song was not recorded in voice of kishore but his fast paced version was made slow but producer wanted another singer to sing KA prefered manna de but he could not turn up and rafi was called. it was the other song " slame ishq meri jaan " that kishore said that this song should be sung by rafi but KA forced kishore/Lata to sing this. The title song of ek mahal ho sapno ka by music director Ravi was recorded in kishore kumar voice but due to lack of perfection it was again recorded in Rafi sahab`s voice. This is totally false. ravis favorite was always rafi. incidentally rajesh roshans favorite was kishore though his father's favorite was rafi There r so many other such examples and none in vice versa. sorry vice versa is there "jago sonewalo " mehmood asked rd to record in voice of kishore than rsfi". rafi was miserable with rehearsal of pyar diwana hota hai" for practice and kishore the original choice was called. When one of kishore kiumar fan praised kishore kumar critisizing Rafi saying ,"aapne to rafi ki chhuti kad di". Kishore kumar slapped his own Fan in presence of whole crowd and told, "the same song that I can sing in one way Rafi sahab can sing in hundreds way and useless to compare him with any singer whatsoever, male or female"
I am amazed that KIshore could not sing certain songs that Rafi sang, especially when I can sing all of them. Its really funny when one understand the extent Rafi fans can go to project him as the greatest. Nonetheless, I am happy that Kishore did not sing songs like "Chahoonga mai tujhe" and "Ajab hai daastan teri ai zindagi", but focussed on creating a whole new brand of music of his own. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.61.165.227 (talk) 12:25, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Why the argument ?
editI really dont know whats the argument all about, there is know doubt as to who was and who is the greatest singer in indian cinema, so please you guys don't even try to talk about him without knowing about hindi music and songs, if you want a proof just sing one rafi song and one kishore kumar or any other singers song yourself and you will start laughing at yourself as to why did you ever even think about even starting an argument about this, please do it , i swear you will find the answer. Posterity has perhaps given the answer of who was greater - Rafi or Kishore. Whereas Rafi represented the past, Kishore was the future. rafi sung the Hero's song (Tum bin jaon Kahan) and Kishore sang the father's song. Today only the Kishore version is sung. There have been many Kishore Rafi duels in films, especially of Rishi Kapoor. it is Kishore's song which swayed the day and continue to be superhits today. Rafi was study personified- he was trained in classical music. Kishore was a genius, untrained in music, but initiated a whole new style, which has charmed all the generationns since then.manipulation of the Binaca Geetmala, the several award functions also deserves research and mention. If you really are a good music lover and want to give merit based on the high technique and talent used in the song then there is no doubt in my mind that the winner will be rafi, just because kishore sang songs in which wordings and music were used to get instant popularity doesnt mean that he becomes a greater singer. no doubt that he has sung good songs but the ratio was very low you guys have heard only songs which a popular but kishore and sung inumerable songs which were down right useless, in case of rafi the ratio was always 9 is to 10 most of the times and coming back to talent one can see a wide range of octaves high and low in a rafi song and almont none in kishore kumar song, he was like the kumar sanu of 70s and 80s. This is not an argument of a fan of rafi but genuinely a voice and talent of rafi can only come once in a life time. just listen to the song "teri galiyon me na rakhen ge kadam" and "o phirkiwali", just see the wide rage of this singer he just sets the mood of the song in the first line itself. The truth is that Rafi sahib was the foremost because he had the change of voice. The others sounded the same in every song.
The above observations seem to be of a demented Rafi fan. Please, this is an encyclopedia, not a private blabber channel! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.65.64 (talk) 18:01, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Incident
editOne should also mention the incident of Rafi holding Lata Mangeshkar's hand during a recording and his underhand tactics of introducing Suman Kalyanpur to replace her. Researchers should also mention about the underhand tactics that he played in retaining the top slot against his contemporaries. His manipulation of the Binaca Geetmala, the several award functions also deserves research and mention. Look at the dirt what people can think of a greatest singer of our nation, this sad. Comments by Dr. Sharad Rajimwale (moved from article space)
editOur assessment of Mohammad Rafi as a Singer must be based on a rational and objective set of arguments, and should not allow emotional slants. Upon a dispassionate examination one comes to the view that Rafi was not only a far more accomplished singer than most of his male contemporaries but showed a distinct edge over even the best of female forefront singers. One has only to listen to his duets with Lata Mangeshkar in order to see how effortlessly Rafi rendered ,displaying an astonishing command over quick vocal adjustments, subtle modulations of tone and clear and exquisite pronunciation . I listened to that voice literally floundering to match the nimble , hopping-dancing notes of Rafi. TAJMAHAL's 'Paon chhoo lene do phoolon ko inayat hogi' is another example of how the greatest female singer remained visibly subdued and low-keyed before Md. Rafi. In the 1960s during their famous separation it was Lata who suffered the embarrassing loss of popularity, while Rafi's popularity went soaring from one pinnacle to another. The Film world could obviously do without Lata Mangeshkar but it could not afford to lose Mohammad Rafi.Even with Mubarak Begum, Suman Kalyanpurkar and Sharda, Rafi could churn out top-notch hit songs, refer to Rajkumar, Humrahi, and Suraj whose songs were heard, sung and enjoyed most passionately by one and all.In the 'tandem'sons where one song is sung separately by both male and female singers, one discovers Rafi having a wide edge over women singers, especially Lata: examples, 'Teri aankhon ke siwa duniya mein rakha kya hai' [CHIRAGH],'Aj kal mein dhal gaya'[BETI-BETE] 'Taqdeer ka fasana'[SEHRA], 'ehsan tera hoga mujh par'[JUNGLEE], 'Dil jo na kah saka'[BHEEGI RAAR],and numerous other songs. Today only those songs are played over radio or heard being sung, which are in Rafi's voice. Rafi lives in his songs. There is no Hareesh Bhimani or Nasreen to pen his biographies, or sponsor his name in a mad frenzied lust for projecting his image larger than life as we see with other singers.'Ae mere watan ke logons effect on Pandit Nehru has been turned into a glittering myth to be continually cashed in for building up the singer's legendary image. But the fact that Mohammad Rafi sang 'Suno suno aye duniya walon Bapujiki amar akahani' in the wake of Gandhiji's assassination and Nehru was so moved that he called Rafi personally to congratulate him has been conveniently suppressed. Even his grave has been destroyed, I hear. It is a shame that not a single voice was raised against this outrage. And yet Rafi is not dependent upon media hype. He continues to grow in popularity through his singing genius. That's the true measure of a GREAT ARTIST. He may not have been conferred Barat Ratna or all those man-made countless honours'. He actually does not need them. The biggest award is his rapidly growing popularity, which he would certainly have appreciated. Dr. Sharad Rajimwale Jodhpur

Opinions needed
editThis particular IP User:117.206.243.27 has been making a nuisance of himself in this article, edit warring and injecting his own POV repeatedly. He refuses to reason, and keeps re-inserting his Marathi transliteration of Muhammad Rafi's name; arguing that since Rafi lived in Bombay, that automatically makes him a Marathi. This violates Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), which states that the native script of the individual must be used. He furthermore, has changed all the references in this article to Bombay, to its present name, Mumbai. This violates Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names), which states that when referring to a particular time period, the previous name should be used (in this case, Bombay). His persistent insertion of POV content into this article, without any concern for the rules or simple reasoning, constitutes Vandalism. However, this administrator User:GorillaWarfare disagrees with me, instead arguing that it is a content dispute, and instead sends me a warning not to engage in edit warring. Stop the war!
editI appeal to the rest of you, just stop the war between Rafi and Kishore. They were both legends, and they were both equally good. Wikipedia requires us to write with a neutral, unbiased point of view. So why all this warring between the fans of both legends? Come on, Rafi and Kishore were both friends. I would like to also request you guys to stop using the word "demented fan", because it seems like a personal attack to me. Excessive trivia
editMoving from article:
Rafi and OP had a fallout during the recording for movie "Sawan ki Ghata", as disclosed by OP during one of his interviews.[24] In the interview, he says, "Throughout my career, I have been famous for my punctuality. Rafi had given me a time for recording a song from Saawan Ki Ghata. The musicians were all set. Rafi came late for that recording and said, “Sorry, I was stuck up in Shankar- Jaikishan’s recording.” I said, “You had given me the time by your choice. So I gather, you have time for Shankar- Jaikishan and not for O.P. Nayyar. Now onwards, O.P.Nayyar will not have time for Rafi.” I cancelled the recording in front of shell shocked musicians and told the accountant to charge the expenses for the cancelled session to my account! After three years, Rafi came to my house crying like a baby. I also broke down. Both of us touched each other’s feet. I said, “Rafi, by coming here today you proved that you are much greater than O.P. You could overcome your ego. I could not!” He often used to sing – Yuun To Humne Laakh Sangeetkaar Dekhe Hai, O.P.Nayyar Sa Nahi Dekha! (I have seen many a composer but never one like O.P.Nayyar!) He also used to tell me, “Your music could turn a eunuch into a he-man!”

1970's RD Burman and Auto-Tune
editMoved from Article: During this same time Rafi faced tough competition from upcoming singers and changing music styles that the 70's brought. R.D Burman was a pioneer of the disco-classical music in this era and preferred to work with certain singers over others. To keep up with standards of this era Rafi began using Auto-Tune.
This is a wiki article. Please provide credible references/links to substantiate your opinions. While it may be true to certain extent that 1970's saw a change in musical preferences for Bollywood, RD Burman's choice of singers/music and Rafi's reduced output; the statement "Rafi's musical output decreased in 1970's" captures the essence. Details like use of Auto-Tune etc... are debatable and with no references, it must be removed. Infact from what I have known over this subject since i developed interest in it from 1995... is that Rafi did not take a song back on tape. That is, he used to sing extempore with his hand-written music-notes everytime. Sound recording engineers used various techniques in 1970's for every singer including Lata/Kishore depending on how their voices fit in the music being orchestrated. Auto-Tune if used (i highly doubt that Bollywood had such sophisticated recording software in 70's)was nothing special to Rafi. BTW, Auto-Tune was first released in 1997 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-Tune), so how did it land up in Bollywood during 1970's ?? Or is it the OP is talking about something else... huh
Rafi the Genius
editIt is not enought to say that Mohammad Rafi is the greatest or the finest of all singers. That is easy to do. It must be pointed out that he possessed a natural reservoir of an amazing range of voice modulations, pitch and emotional back up which was rare in anyone and at any time. Film playback singing is a difficult art which demands not only a full mastery over one's rendition skill and voice but an ability to to do full justice to the scene and the actor's personality. Rafi was the only singer able to achieve this . We can see how in film Pyaasa (1957) he sang such different songs as "sar jo tera chakaraye" , "Hum aapki aankhon mein is dil ko" (with Geeta Dutt) , " ye duniya agar mil bhi jaaye" and " jinhe naaz hai hind par woh ". These songs are of quite diverse moods and need different tonal effects. It is difficult to imagine any other singer making such gigantic shifts of gear as Rafi did. That is why he was preferred by most of the music directors save a few like Salil Chowdhary and Anil Biswas. In his non-filmi songs we see a true free wheeling flight of his genius when we hear " Is dil se teri yaad mitaai nahi jaati", "shaam se neha lagaaye" , and " kisi ne phir na suna dard ke phasaane ko", etc. If Rafi could appear to swing with Shankar Jaikishan orchestra, he could come brilliantly with almost no orchestral backing as in "Lagta nahin hai dil mera" and " Na kisi ki aankh ka noor hoon" (Laal Quila), as also in Haqqueeqat's " Main yeh soch kar uske dar se utha tha". It was Gopal Das Neeraj who had said that Rafi has animated his lyrics by rendering " Swapan jhade phool se" for "Nayi umar ki nayi phasal". No wonder the greatest Music directors like Naushad , Ravi and Madan Mohan preferred Rafi to the last song. ---Sharad Rajimwale — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.64.15.74 (talk) 14:16, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

I really dont know whats the argument all about, there is know doubt as to who was and who is the greatest singer in indian cinema, it is rafi, so please you guys don't even try to talk about him before knowing about hindi music and songs, if you want a proof just sing one rafi song and one kishore kumar or any other singers song yourself and you will start laughing at yourself as to why did you ever even think about even starting an argument about this, please do it , i swear you will find the answer |

Number of his songs
editThe article says, "It is acknowledged that he has sung a total of 26,000 songs, but researchers have found only 7,405" This is a misleading quotation. The full quotation from the stated reference is as follows:
"Number of songs? It is acknowledged that he has sung a total of 26,000 songs, but researchers have found only 7,405 songs yet. How did the error came into effect: During a foreign music concert while introducing Mohammed Rafi, the anchroman declared that he had sung 26,000 songs and everybody just accepted it without much of fact checking. Unfortunately, even Rafi Sahab himself believed it to be true."
As one can see the article is questioning the number 26,000. So I am changing the sentence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.133.198.55 (talk) 23:36, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Hindustani classical music
editThere are sources which say Rafi was trained in Hindustani classical music [1], [2], [3], And obviously he has sung numerous classical songs including many picturized on Bharat Bhushan... Edit-war regarding this must stop now... Thank you --Adamstraw99 (talk) 08:47, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Adamstraw99 I agree with you, undoubtedly Rafi was formally trained in classical music. I have noticed over quite a few days there is an edit war going on between an editor[4] (had been warned also) and certain ip users because of which I have gotten the article semi protected.-Kishfan (talk) 12:36, 30 July 2018 (UTC)
- Rafi was *trained* in classical music; he did not *sing* classical music. Songs like "O Duniya Ke Rakhwale", while based on raga Darbari, are not classical pieces. I'm going to revert the change. Please don't make nonsensical claims. If you want to make such claims, please provide a link to a classical performance by Rafi. Please note that I love Rafi, especially his classical-based songs, and my aim is to present the truth, not to belittle him in any way. FUtheresa (talk) 17:58, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
- @FUtheresa:, You must be a true music ignorant or hardcore Rafi hater and don't know Indian singers if you say Rafi "did not sing classical music", in reality Rafi has sung all songs for the entire films which are based on classical music theme.. Baiju Bawra (film) is one such example .. Now your continued attack on this page using multiple ip addresses and multiple account confirms that you are Clearly not being here to build an encyclopedia and need to read and understand WP:NOTHERE and WP:TRUTH.. Wikipedia articles are worked on collaboratively but you appear to be hell-bent on pushing your POV..If you do not read the mentioned guidelines, continue with reckless reverting and sockpuppeteering, you are very likely to be blocked soon... Though I don't see the need to convince a POV pusher and recklessly hell-bent and desperate disruptive troll, still i will put some links which say Rafi has sung classical music --> [5] , [6] , [7].... there are hundreds of video links too which show Rafi singing classical songs --Adamstraw99 (talk) 18:54, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Correct filmfare award details
editHe won filmfare award in 1969 for the song "Main Gaoon Tum So Jao (Sad)" and not Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein of that same movie Bharamchari (1968)...you can confirm it from filmfare official website also... Kindly correct the same Thekkverma (talk) 17:39, 1 August 2018 (UTC)

For the sake of removing overlink, all of the hyperlinking to similarly-protected article to Kishore Kumar article must be removed after the first instance i.e. the Work with Shankar-Jaikishan subsection, where it should be added instead. Similar to the also-protected Asha Bhosle article, where the first mention is in Work with O.P. Nayyar subsection but the link is missing there.
However..
As an exception, the quote attributed to the subject's contemporary in the Legacy section by citing the op-ed piece published in the weekly The Hindu Magazine (not to be confused with Frontline, which is, according to this site, fortnightly and predominantly about the electoral/mainstream politics) must: A) Either wikilink "Mannada" & "Kishore bhaiya" to Manna Dey & Kishore Kumar articles respectively, if not the author's sibling "Asha" as well. (Since prior section in the article already makes it clear that the 2 are sisters, at least in the current revision which stands.) Or B) Not as much as an exception but if granted either by some policy or simply, WP:IAR, it must state that the attributed-author is invoking hypocorism to refer to her contemporaries in the article's subject and their mutual peer in Kishore. If nothing about her sister Asha is felt warranted. —103.163.124.86 (talk) 00:05, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
P.S. And this is not as important but the relevant linked-citation should also: Add a "|subscription required=yes" syntax given for whatever factors, the still-live op-ed now clearly has a paywall, assuming that wasn't the case when the citation was originally-added or, latest-maintained, or simply, the appropriate parameter was non-existent at either time (whichever is later). —103.163.124.86 (talk) 00:09, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Mohammad Rafi Ji Is STILL Active
editIt's simply wrong to conclude that his active years were limited to 1944 to 1980. He's still active. Please change it to "immortalised". Rafi Ji still generates revenue for various labels. We put his Bhajans, Aarties, Romantic, Patriotic, Angry, Comedy, and Sad songs on our Alexa. In our family, we don't feel that Mohammad Rafi Ji has gone anywhere or is not active anymore. He never stopped being active. He still earns royalty for the songs he sang.
The discussion is open... TheAtulKaushal (talk) 11:35, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
