editGood afternoon! Thanks for YOUR amendments. I am the author of this article. It is article about the Ukrainian sculptor (living on Ukraine)
If to speak about Shmatko he is known in Ukraine. Help me to solve this problem. What should I change in article?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Rerter 2 (talk • contribs) 15:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
I am the author of article placed on his site, I have the right to use materials from page of the biography. --Rerter 2 (talk) 16:53, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
I cannot understand YOUR information
editGood afternoon! I cannot understand YOUR information. I have made all in this short article. It is possible, that it is not especially good. All references to press only in Russian. It is very difficult to give the information about the sculptor in English. The basic information about him in Russian. I have found suitable references to the central newspapers of Ukraine. --Rerter 2 (talk) 19:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
------
editIf it is possible, you could prompt me that I should add or clean in this article. --Rerter 2 (talk) 21:39, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Rerter, are there any newspaper stories about this artist? Has he been included in any books? ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:07, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
-----
editI have specified one of sources is a book (catalogue) about participants of an exhibition of Biennale 2007 + page. I have specified references to selective articles in newspapers (names, numbers) about this sculptor. I can specify even more references to different newspapers the Internet of the edition about this sculptor - all this in Russian. --Rerter 2 (talk) 22:30, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Rerter, the sources don't have to be available on the internet, although that's certainly nice. Independent coverage from reliable sources like newspapers or books about Ukranian art would be helpful in establishing notability. They don't have to be in English. We can have them translated. ChildofMidnight (talk) 22:36, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
-----
editYou can look the information under different newspapers of Ukraine and RUSSIA and video

Thanks for atention --Rerter 2 (talk) 09:55, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
The word amateur is not suitable for biography Shmatko - he is not engaged in creativity in their spare time. He is not a an amateur - it's his profession. I would ask you to approach objectively and not write he is amateur. https://ru.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%BB%D1%8E%D0%B1%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9F%D1%80%D0%BE%D1%84%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%BB --Rerter 2 (talk) 08:22, 12 November 2014 (UTC)
- Additionally, one of the two sources claiming he is an amateur appears to be about a different person (Vladimir Shmatko, not Mykola Shmatko) and the other ("I lived in a vault") is unconvincing. —David Eppstein (talk) 16:04, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Name
editHe calls himself Nikolay, not Mykola, according to his website - http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/ . The page needs to be renamed accordingly.--Galassi (talk) 01:23, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Done.--Lute88 (talk) 22:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Lute88
editUsers Lute88 regularly deletes the information from the article. It also adds information that does not correspond to reality - deceiving visitors and distorting the facts. Please clarify this issue. --Rerter 2 (talk) 12:54, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- As far as I can see Lute88 has been improving the article by removing badly-sourced or self-promoting material from the article. —David Eppstein (talk) 16:44, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
1. Please tell me the improvement. He posted his photo (sculpture N. Shmatko) and coined the name has no relation to the sculpture - Sculpture "Kunigulis". I believe it is deliberate - distortion of the facts. This sculpture is available on the website of the author "Foreplay" (Ural marble, 66x125x67) http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/en_vers/w264z.html and it has nothing to do with the fantasies of who is posted. This is not an improvement, and misrepresentation and fraud.
2. Also, he regularly deletes information about the author of the exhibition. Information available in the biography on the author's website http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/Bioexe2.html He has the opportunity to refute it ???
3. When he posted a photo of sculpture Shmatko and came up with his name, I believe, he was granted permission to a public placement of its sculptures and the name change?
4. Please let me know the reasons for the removal of information about the exhibitions of the author? http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/engver/Bioexe2.html I want to clarify that this is not advertising, and data from his official website. --Rerter 2 (talk) 17:39, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
- Shmat'ko's own website is not an acceptable source. The sources must be secondary: magazines, museum/gallery catalogues etc.--Lute88 (talk) 22:45, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Florence Biennale 2009 http://www.florencebiennale.org/en/artists-2009/ S - Shmatko NiKolai – Ucraina

From pages 66-67, we see the exhibitors Page 160 – 161 we see the participant SHMATKO GALLERY KING OF MARBLE UKRAINE Also, below you can see the name of the sculpture. The bottom of the page - address, name, etc. --Rerter 2 (talk) 13:47, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
1. Editor of Wikipedia Lute88 several times posted photo sculptures https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolay_Shmatko#/media/File:Shmatko-statue.jpg of Shmatko (original) http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/en_vers/w264z.html , inventing a name. This can be seen in the pages of history.
2. Editor Lute88 at his discretion voiced sense of sculpture
1/ I ask to show permission from the author who can offer to place images of his sculptures for public review.
2/ I ask provide the description of the sculpture, voiced by the author.
3/ Please show an authoritative source, where the sculpture (original) http://www.kingofmarble-shmatko.com/en_vers/w264z.html is presented as kunniligus. In the photograph we can see, a kiss on the belly. --Rerter 2 (talk) 17:01, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Nikolay Shmatko → Mykola Shmatko – He was Ukrainian. PoisonHK ✉ Sapiens dominabitur astris 10:32, 6 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. – robertsky (talk) 14:09, 14 March 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. queen of 🖤 (they/them; chat) 19:37, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. "Mykola" is the Ukrainian form, while "Nikolay" is the Russian form of the same given name. Subject was born in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and died in Ukraine. He has been referenced by his Russian given name and by his Ukrainian given name. Since he was Ukrainian, the Ukrainian name should prevail. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 01:11, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Russian form seems to be the WP:COMMONNAME in English-language sources, as was common with Ukrainians until relatively recently. I can understand that's not popular in Ukraine, but it's a simple fact. His own website uses Nikolai, so maybe that's what we should use. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:45, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. If his own English-language website used Nikolai, so should we. (That does mean I support moving it to "Nikolai".) -- asilvering (talk) 23:09, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
