Is this film a Western?
editI dispute calling this film a "Western," similar to Cimarron, Unforgiven, or Dances With Wolves.
Westerns do not take place in contemporary times. Two of the above three films don't take place anywhere near the era in which they were produced. Only the very end of Cimarron takes place in the 1920s. Most Westerns are set in the 19th Century or very shortly thereafter. No Country For Old Men takes place in 1980.
I propose the line listing this film as one of four Oscar-winning Westerns be deleted. QuarterbackSneak (talk) 21:39, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
Misuse of the word "bribe"
editSaying that Chigurh "bribes two boys for a shirt" is very misleading. First, the word "bribe" implies that the induced action is illegal, or at the very least dishonest, whereas the boy simply gives a shirt to help an injured man. Moreover, the money did not induce the action; the boy freely gives his shirt, rejecting the money. Only afterwards, when Chigurh insists, does the boy accept the money. - Fixed I have seen the film, and you are correct, so I corrected the article text. Thanks for pointing this out. Carlstak (talk) 02:31, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
