FIR/police/controversy
editBefore adding anything about the FIR/police/controversy here relating to alleged anti-Muslim bias, please note the thread at Talk:Priya_Prakash_Varrier#Controversy_section, which applies here as much as for that article. - Sitush (talk) 21:31, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- I realise that the above thread cannot be seen now. However, the fact remains that the FIR was just an opportunist stunt aimed at gaining publicity on the back of the viral video featuring Varrier. She was the subject of the FIR, not the film, and it was ludicrous because the claim was that the song's lyrics insulted Muslims - since she didn't actually sing in the song, it would have been impossible to uphold.
- We do not do dedicated "Controversy" sections and this was a manufactured controversy. We shouldn't encourage fly-by-night fringe communalism that has no lasting effect, as here. That is why I just removed it and it is why I will remove it again unless someone comes up with something more substantial than "it happened and the newspapers reported it". It has already been established at numerous BLP AfDs relating to the various actors that the news media completely lost their heads on this one. - Sitush (talk) 10:46, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- I don't know why people keep removing the controversy part. Many films have controversies mentioned. Beefybufoon (talk) 07:07, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- Did you read the comments immediately preceding your own? I think a read of WP:CONSENSUS might also be useful because other people have removed attempts to insert such a section. ~- Sitush (talk) 10:45, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- I did, but other articles too have a section about controversy. So I don't see why anyone is removing it. And while you're talking about multiple users, isn't it true multiple users have attempted to add it? There seems consensus. So stop acting the master. Beefybufoon (talk) 12:28, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- Multiple experienced contributors have indicated it is not of signficance; multiple inexperienced, usually "drive-by", contributors keep trying to add it. There is a difference. There is also no useful purpose in comparing this article's content with that of any other article because each situation is different and has to be considered on its own merits. In this particular instance, the "controversy" was clearly manufactured for the reasons I set out above - it had no valid legal basis from the outset because they were targeting the wrong party, and the reason they were doing that was because the party in question had gained an oh-so-brief moment of fame and so someone saw a chance to jump on thr bandwagon with more communal nonsense. Her biographical article was deleted due to the brevity also. I suspect you are aware that these manufactured "outrages" are two-a-penny in India, a society where protests are common and often irrational. - Sitush (talk) 16:23, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Release date
editThe release date keeps changing and, worse, people keep adding dates here without sources. We know that the actual release has changed several times and we know that Indian film people go bananas trying to use Wikipedia to publicise their ventures, so let's just wait until it actually happens and then add the date retrospectively. - Sitush (talk) 09:34, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
