edit...I don't think Goof Troop's Pete is a dinosaur, or even remotely resembles Eliott. Does anyone else agree? MasterXiam 17:52, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
I agree. Black Pete dates back to the original Mickey cartoon and is completely unrelated to this entry. It's possible that it refers to a similar dragon character in a particular episode of Goof Troop, but I can't be sure, and it's phrased badly. I removed that section, which is reproduced here.
"*Disney also has a character Pete which is a dinosaur similar in appearance to Elliott that appeared in the Disney children's television series Goof Troop (episode "Great Egg-Spectations")." Ryuko 06:33, 22 March 2006
There wasn't a dinosaur or dragon called Pete in Goof Troop. There was one called Bubbles though. There was a dinosaur in "Darkwing Duck" called Steggmutt though, and had the same hair as Elliott (AndrewAnorak 07:51, 17 March 2007 (UTC))
Muad and Wvyern
editI was reading a story about a girl name Muad, that had a wvyern as a pet. Now the idea came up to me, that Pete's Dragon may have been based on this story. The simarlities are a child and a dragon being friends, and the dragon as a protector and some people wanted to kill the dragon. However, the difference between Pete's Dragon and Muad and the Wvyern, is that Elliot is more like a child, who causes trouble, and can be nice, and the reason why wanted to be killed, is so that the villian can have more money and the town does know there is a dragon until at the end and sets at the early 1900's, while the Wvyern in the older tale is set at the middle ages, and unlike Elliot, the wyven is more seroius (for example, king kong is seroius) and the town knows about the dragon and unlike the happy ending in the movie, the dragon wass kill, and the girl was left a lone to cry (like Ann in the 2005 king kong). So, please write comments. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4444hhhh (talk • contribs) 01:14, 2007 March 14 (UTC)
Sequel?
editIs there any news of a sequel? Most other Disney fims have one now, and unlike most other Disney films with sequels Pete's Dragon does have an open ending. Prehaps he helps a new child in need. (AndrewAnorak 07:51, 17 March 2007 (UTC))
DVD/VHS Release
editDoes any DVD/VHS release exist that has "Candle on the Water"? At least the R2-DVD from 200x doesn´t have it.FreddyE 12:43, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Lighthouse
editWhich (existing) real lighthouse was used as a model for the movie's fake lighthouse? (I mean the one that looks like the closest to the movie lighthouse) 90.28.115.239 (talk) 00:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Spelling
editI'm a huge fan of the film, and have a buttload of the merchandise... and I gotta say, I think it's Trivia section-worthy that the name "Elliott" is so often misspelled- by DISNEY, no less. In fact, the CORRECT spelling happens to be on the MINORITY of the film merchandise- and even the recent DVD release misspells it in their 'Where's Elliot- The Disappearing Dragon Game'- interestingly enough, it's spelled correctly in the introduction to the game- except in the title graphic, IIRC.
The most common mispelling being 'Elliot', though I could've SWORN I've seen "Eliott" in at least one of the books.
The title character's name being PROPERLY spelled "Elliott", as per the opening credits- look and you'll find Charlie Callas listed as the voice of "Elliott", not "Elliot" or "Eliott".
Anyone else ever notice that, or is it just me? Dinosaur bob (talk) 00:33, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Acquiring a dragon
edit"Pete's Dragon was acquired by the Disney studio in the 1950s ..."
- What does that mean?--80.141.223.184 (talk) 15:54, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Your question got me looking at the opening paragraph, and I decided to reorganize it a bit and make better sense out of it. For the benefit of others (I have a feeling you may have discovered the answer separately) ... the intent of the original statement was to state that the Disney studio bought the rights to the story that turned into Pete's Dragon back in the 1950s. I think the new sentence structure clears up the ambiguity, and just plain reads better. --McDoobAU93 (talk) 16:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Name of the dragon
editWas Elliott named after Eliot, Maine? Seems to me like someone could've been looking at a map of the Maine coast and found Passamaquoddy Bay at the top and Eliot at the bottom, resulting in those names creeping into the movie. 72.45.174.66 (talk) 05:13, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a program guide. Yes, the film is streaming on a service. It's also available on other services and was shown on still other services at various times in the past. This is trivial information.
Similarly, we do not mention every network, download site and streaming service making "Stairway to Heaven", Pretty in Pink or episodes of Star Trek available.
If you disagree, please find a reliable sources about the film discussing (not a mere mention) its availability. - SummerPhDv2.0 03:35, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Still no discussion. I'm removing it again. - SummerPhDv2.0 23:51, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Star Wars
editThe film's performance suffered due to "Star Wars". (Derscht (talk) 13:17, 1 January 2022 (UTC))
- Perhaps, but we can't add that without a reliable source. DonIago (talk) 19:01, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
