Synopsis?
editI haven't removed this section, but it seems unnecessary and inapplicable. I would suggest that it be removed, but I didn't want to raise concerns. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fltyingpig (talk • contribs) 00:53, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Stop Making up False Criticism
editI have been researching reviews on Poptropica and the negative criticism mentioned on the Poptropica wiki, is FALSE'. Whoever wrote them is making up quotes, facts, and references. For example, I couldn't find ANY information on the existence of "The Children Computer bi-weekly times." Also the quote, "'The New York entertainment weekly stats that it 'is safer then club penguin, but way more boring'" cannot be found on the page referenced. That referenced article just discusses a Sears Ad Campaign, and doesn't review any games. Therefore, I deleted these criticism due to them being purely false and opinions of some disgruntled user. If there is negative criticism about Poptropica, that is fine, but they should be "real" and correctly referenced. (Ugreen ) 14:49, 28 August 2008
- Some IP just made a post deleting all the page's contents and telling people to not post criticism of Poptropica. This is obviously (as far as I'm concerned) against Wikipedia rules and I have manually undone their edits. Vltava 68 (talk contribs) 09:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

- I saw a file called Francais Island on Poptropica. Just trying save image as on the First Steps post. It says Francais Ile. Ugreen ) 1:32, 14 December 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.45.42.214 (talk)
- Probably an island in France, further evidence in sketches. Francais means French in French. But anyway, this is not a place for speculation. Vltava 68 08:50, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

A French Structure
editI was on the Poptropica Blog on February 6, and it showed some sketches of a crazy, weird, island. The download name has this: structureSketches.jpg. Huh? What? Is Structure island coming out? Unconfirmed, but still a future island. Also French Island will be confirmed very soon. 1 picture in 2008 showed sketches of an island coming sometime later. The picture name had francais ile. francais ile: Francais Island? They also posted a picture of a French restraunt. And, yet, it had the Eifell Tower, a French flag, and French writing. I used google translate and it said the french writing means Bakery: Pancake, Pizza, Pasta. Nice!

Revision may not sit well
editThe removal of almost every "game play" item is now complete, and no hints other than the island description should be included, now that random IP posts are excluded. I finally included the advertisers here, and hopefully this will not rankle purists. Haunted House, although larger than all the ads, is nonetheless not an island, so I have relocated it with Earth Day and the other purchasable, Dr. Hare. I am a bit PO'ed by the retroactive 350 credit cost, as this required about 5 hours for revisions to various sites. Dfoofnik (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:58, 26 September 2010 (UTC).

Attention
editAll of the Poptropica islands are made to a new page called List of Poptropica islands. Canihuan300 (talk) 21:15, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Now I think all Poptropica islands should be made on List of Poptropica islands. A year after I put the talk above, there are now 9 more islands and is taking up to much of the page. If I shorten it and put it on the new page it could a whole lot easier. Canihuan300 (talk) 15:08, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Apparently the list page was later removed, along with it the ever-growing list of islands. An alternative to deletion, perhaps, but Poptropica is not your average video game site. Its only problem is that it is essentially a solitary game, except perhaps for the multiplayer games, and the chat is still highly restrictive even among real-life friend players. Edit request from Lwolfecomm, 28 September 2011
editThe "Poptropica Creators" section needs to be corrected, because it is currently wrong!! Please update to say:
"Jeff Kinney is the creator of Poptropica. All Islands and content on Poptropica are created and developed by Jeff and the Poptropica team. [1]
Some brands such as Big Nate Island, Red Dragon Island (Magic Tree House), and Great Pumpkin Island (Peanuts) have lent their characters to Poptropica to create and Island with their theme. However, these are standalone instances, and these authors are not the creators of Poptropica."
Lwolfecomm (talk) 21:25, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Not done I agree that the section needs reworking, but Jeff Kinney is not the only creator of Poptropica. It is a collaborative effort of several people. Sorry! pluma Ø 00:43, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible to suggest an island for Poptropica?
edit- Personally, I don't think so. I've searched and looked, but there is NO way to contact Poptropica to suggest an idea for a new island. If there is, someone one please tell me, because I think there starting to run out of new, fresh ideas, and have a bunch of ideas. Some of them are:
- 1. Evil Angels Island
- 2. Invasion Island(Based off a book I'm writing called The Invasion From the Planet Tyche) (Tyche is pronounced tie-key)
- 3. City in the Clouds Island(Based off a series I'm writing with a friend, called City in the Clouds. The first book (the one we're working on) is Down to Earth.)
- I also think that if Poptropica let us contact them I wouldn't be the only one without awesome island ideas.I hope Poptropica sees this and lets us suggest islands.

Written like an advertisement
editI added this tag in part because of this line from the synopsis: "Poptropica is an online, role-playing game made by Jeff Kinney targeted at children ages 6 to 15, where players can travel, play games, compete in head-to-head competition, and communicate safely with each other. Players are given several quests, called islands, which they are encouraged to complete." That is written as if it is a simple fact that players can do all the above listed things, including "communicate safely with each other," instead of it being what it actually is - a claim made by the company. It also is taken almost word-for-word from the webpage's own link text. The article should make clear that these are the claims the company is making, i.e. "Poptropica is an online role-playing game created by Jeff Kinney... Players can travel to different virtual worlds, play games, compete ... and aims to let children communicate safely with each other." --Edwin Herdman (talk) 05:23, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

It came back up, part of the vast re-launch in the larger, sound-augmented 2013 format. New games come out in new format, old islands are being remodeled into it one at a time. Apparently you can now get new credits (down to 50 now) for completing them. Still lots of bugs after a year, but I am keeping them apprised of the ones I find. VH Release Date/New iOS app
editPart 1 OK. Someone edited the page and changed the release date. Here is a list of things that are wrong about it. 1. Despite it being changed to August 2013, it still says July. Here is what it says: It was originally scheduled for a July 2013 release, but was instead released August 28, 2013. It should be changed to just say: It was released on August 28th 2013 despite rumors of it coming in July or September. Part 2 Someone should add the Poptropica Tips and Tricks app to the article along with the new iOS app: Poptropica: Forgotten Islands. Part 3 NOTE: THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION! DO NOT TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY! :) Someone could tell about the Mocktropica Island Rumors! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.48.223.23 (talk) 19:54, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Elaborate on the "HTML5" details.
editThe article mentions converting Poptropica from Flash to "an HTML5 format". Readers may be interested that Poptropica is using the multi-target Haxe language and compiling it to JavaScript. It also is using OpenFL (an open source clone of the Flash API) and HaxeFlixel (a game engine based on Flixel which was for Flash).

By 2012, the game had grown to have over 500 million registered users, with 35 million in the 15-25 age group.[3]
Can we get a citation check or [citation needed] for 500 million registered users as of 2012? Reference 3 does not support this claim. Half a billion accounts seems high.

editA little down from the top, where it states "In May 2015, it was announced that Family Education Network was sold by Pearson to the interactive-education venture capitalist Sandbox Networks", maybe remove it or at least combine with the already proceeding "In 2015, Poptropica was sold to educational-technology investment group, Sandbox Partners."? Not sure if that violates the manual of style or not. Lule345 (talk) 12:17, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
