Ditto + Rayquaza= lv.5 Rayquaza??

edit

Can you breed a Ditto with a Rayquaza............. to get a level 5 Rayquaza...

Ummm.... no. That'd be pretty unbalanced, giving the user an easy way to get loads of Rayquazas... plus, you've never been able to breed legendaries. Deskana 22:22, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
This proves that you can breed the Densetsu no Pokemon: http://www.geocities.jp/achamo4204/tamaIRO.gif

It's a non-existant image and Yahoo Japan. How does that prove anything? Sonic Mew | talk to me 14:11, 24 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

No matter what, there is no possible way to get breed ANY Legendary Pokémon. You get one, and only one. And the GIF looks faked. By the simple fact that it's a GIF. Any image is subject to scrutiny (I could make the very same images in Paint). MasterXiam 23:18, 13 December 2005 (UTC)Reply
Plus the fact they're all shiney is kinda... well yeah, stupid. ~regruBgniK
It might also be notable that Rayquaza has higher max overall stats than any other pokemon
That would make people assume that Rayquaza is unbeatable, when it obviously isn't. Double Dash 12:02, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can breed Manaphy, a legendary.Xenero 00:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Manaphy's legendary status is debateable, and besides, the result is a completely different Pokémon, not a Lv5 Manaphy. -サターンヨッシー HAPPY HALLOWEEN 10:15, 30 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

fact check

Please fact check [1]

The signature attack line doesn't even work...and please specify what you want 'fact-checking' as that link provides no help whatsoever. Double Dash 12:03, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I made a new section.

edit

This is a topic I made so you can discuss about the section, what do you guys think about the new "Weird but true facts" section? TheBlazikenMaster 22:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

To be honest, I'd be more comfortable if they were sourced. For example, how do you know Rayquaza's Hyper Beam can level a city? Is that shown anywhere? In a game? In the cartoon series? Stated by a canonical guide? Stuff like this should be sourced on Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bhamv (talkcontribs) 08:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC).Reply
I know Rayquaza is a powerful pokémon, I own one myself. But you're right, that fact can some people think that I mean in one shot. Rayquaza's Hyper Beam is very powerful, but you're probably right, it can't destroy all the houses of the city with just one hyper beam. I think I should change it to something more realistic, whole city is going too far. Building could also be unrealistic, I think I'll remove that fact since it techniclly can't destroy an entire city in one hyper beam. TheBlazikenMaster 18:20, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, ok, but what about the rest?
Currently, the stuff that the section lists are:
Rayquaza can fly faster than a Jet.
Where does it say that? Which game? Which cartoon episode? etc.
Rayquaza wasn't born in the pokémon world, it's said to be from another planet than the pokémon world.
It's said? Said by who?
Groudon is controlled by the red orb, Kyogre by the blue orb but it isn't known what orb Rayquaza is controlled by.
Is Rayquaza controlled by an orb at all? If he is, where does it say that? Which game?
Rayquaza can fly in outter space without ever being out of air.
Once more, how do we know that? Where does it ever say that?
It is revealed in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon that Rayquaza has never once descended to the ground, even after hundreds of millions of years.
This is more like it, because it states a source.

Basically, if you're adding them into the article and calling them facts, then you need to source them. Otherwise they don't belong on Wikipedia. Bhamv 10:07, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was stated in the pokémon movie "Destiny Deoxys" that Rayquaza was from outter space. I never said it could fly faster than a jet, someone else edited the word "helicopter" into a jet. In the episode "the gaining Groudon" and "Shuffle of Legends" Groudon and Kyogre are controlled by orbs, Rayquaza also has red lines that could be controlled by orb, and I find it pretty interesting it's not known yet. I know he can fly faster than a helicopter because I noticed his speed in the Deoxys movie. Seriously, do you really think my goal is to make vandalism? No, it wasn't, I wouldn't do such a thing, I know it would be fun, but it's stupid to ruin other people's work. I just hope my section isn't vandalism.
Ok, if there's a source for every entry of the section, then they need to be included in the article itself. Otherwise it violates Wikipedia's "Three Pillars" of verifiability, original research and NPOV, and needs to be removed. This is particularly important if you're going to call the section "true facts."
I believe you when you say your intention is not to vandalize, and I do believe you have the article's best interests at heart. But I suspect you don't quite understand the basic principles of Wikipedia, particularly the Three Pillars I mentioned above. Bhamv 05:22, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I think it's time to remove the section then. I can't prove anything since I'm not a researcher, I'll just remove the section until I can prove these facts, I know they are true, but I must prove they are. So the section is now removed. Well, of course I don't know everything about what is and what is not allowed, I just joined 8 days ago, so I'm new to Wikipedia. But don't worry, I'm doing my best in following the guidelines. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheBlazikenMaster (talkcontribs) 09:04, 8 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Confusing sentence

edit

I removed a very poorly worded confusing sentence, "They are said to descend from the ozone layer if Kyogre and Groudon were to fight, in order to break up the feud and maintain the balance of nature." from the end of the biological characteristics section. If anyone has any idea what this sentence was supposed to say, please fix it and put it back in. -Jaardon 10:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Um...I find it pretty obvious. When Kyogre and Groudon fight, they come down to break it up.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 15:59, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

New version of article

edit

I have remade the article, this time with real-world information and reliable sources. Cheers! Scapler (talk) 15:25, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks great, but I would suggest merging the Notes and References. No reason to have them separate. Blake (Talk·Edits) 15:34, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merge?

edit

While I'm not really a stickler for an article having short reception, especially considering Rayquaza has definitely been noticed, being on the cover of a game and being in a movie, but I don't think it's quite big enough. I mean, maybe if it had some mention in books the way Mr. Mime and Koffing and Weezing have, but it relies on a few sources, most of them being IGN. If anyone disagrees, then I hope they also will fix the problems. To me, it just kind of stands out amongst the other articles, definitely lacking something the others have. No disrespect to the editors of the article, but as it stands, I think Bulbasaur in its current state could hold an article more firmly than Rayquaza. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! I wouldn't throw a fit if it was merged, but I don't really support it, since it seems fine. I mean, its lasted this long. Blake (Talk·Edits) 23:34, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm more leaning towards support. It doesn't feel like there's enough weight, or enough material, to really warrant a character article.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 19:43, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think, bottom-line, there is enough here to satisfy the general notability guide. But, hey, I'm obviously biased about this, so, I guess this comment is predictable. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 19:55, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
That book mention helped a little, but it still needs further content. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 07:16, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

pokemon is Japanese Game. Chinese dragon??

edit

Why is the dragon in Japan disregarded? The dragon in Japan has the feature of three fingers. 60.40.9.191 (talk) 18:54, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are making no sense. The source stated in the text says that Rayquaza is based off a Chinese dragon. Just like Charizard is based of a Europeon dragon. Not all Pokemon are based off Japanese animals/legends. They do research of other places. Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:00, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well, actually the source in the article does not say anything about it being based off any type of dragon, so I am going to edit the text to make it not so "definite". Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:02, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Is the text on which you insist this?

Is this Pokemon's official staff? 60.40.9.191 (talk) 19:06, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
No, it isn't official Pokemon staff. I have edited the text in the article so it says "It seems to be based off..." Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:11, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
"influenced by Mesoamerican art"
If it is irrelevant to Pokemon's official book, the deletion seems to be appropriate. 60.40.9.191 (talk) 19:17, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
You don't get it. It is from a reliable source, so we are able to put it on the article. Wikipedia is based off reliable third party sources. If a reliable source said Rayquaza was based off a grass snake, we could put that in there, even if it is wrong. The text says "It SEEMS to be based off", to point out that it isn't official. Blake (Talk·Edits) 19:26, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
It is misled as if an official staff admitted. If it is not an official staff, it is necessary to emphasize the third party's consideration. 60.40.9.191 (talk) 19:35, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Error

Yeah so I'm just going to note here, NO legendary disappears if you lose to it, only if it loses to you. Check the games if you want proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.7.201.80 (talk) 15:02, 2 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

In accordance with WP:YOUTUBE, I just want to clarify that the video[2] I recently used as a source for this article is not a copyright violation. As per reliable third-party source Polygon[3]: "However, uploading game content with voice-over is not the same as uploading a TV show. The producer is playing the game and manipulating it. He or she can claim 'fair use' of the content, especially if the video is a critique or a report." The video I included was indeed game content with voice-over.
