Let's Not Jump the Gun...or Sword

edit

Let's not turn this article into a warzone as we have done with others. This new game has been "revealed" in Nintendo Power. I'll see if I can pick up the magazine somewhen, cause this is going to rock the fanbase, including Wikipedia's and I expect they'll be a lot of arguments, vandilism and people fighting over whose's got the better reference. For starters, someone should locate where the info on the game came from, if it is from the magazine or if it is all fake. The cover seems pretty real. For those who have not seen it, look here:

This is going to be an interesting experience. Evilgidgit (talk) 22:01, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It can also be seen here: [1] I guess we'll keep an eye on this for a while. I'll try getting it ASAP. Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 01:20, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's already happening! Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 01:59, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is this page actually correct according to Wiki policies? It is based on a cover of a magazine that hasn't been released yet, and it hasn't been confirmed by Nintendo Power, Nintendo or Sega. It might as well be fake(a really good one though), so this article is based on speculation, which isn't allowed. If this isn't confirmed in any way then this article is probably going to be deleted. According to one of the sources (SEGA.com), as of today (July 21, 2008), it appears to be official... - Adolphus79 (talk) 21:24, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
It is based on a cover of a magazine that hasn't been released yet - strange, I see no reference to a magazine cover in the references list. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 21:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Its from an alledged cover for the new issue of Nintendo Power. IDK which site i saw it so good luck finding it--SxeFluff (talk) 04:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not from an alledged cover... it's from a press release from SEGA themselves... - Adolphus79 (talk) 04:40, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, missed that one. I was reffering to a leaked cover of Nintendo Power on which it was revealed, but there were still doubts on wether it was real or not. Moccamonster Talk 08:27, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

In source 2 it is stated to be part of the Storybook series. They call it a series, then we can(or maybe even have to) call it a series too. Moccamonster Talk 20:36, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Calibur

edit

Cailbur is being mentioned as a character, but the sword isn't alive. That's like putting the Chaos Emeralds as characters in Sonic Heroes. Just because it plays a role, doesn't mean it's a character.GENERALZERO (talk) 21:28, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Calibur supposedly speaks. Saying Calibur isn't a character is like, saying that those talking objects from Dora aren't characters, or the trains, and cars from Thomas aren't characters. Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 21:30, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, the thing about Dora and things like that, is that the inanimate objects are alive, so they would be considered alive. As for Calibur, seeing how he speaks, should be left alone, and added to the list. Sorry for the confusion^^;GENERALZERO (talk) 21:39, 24 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's actually Caliburn, which is an early term for Excalibur. Should that be noted in the article? 216.126.209.88 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:03, 14 March 2009 (UTC).Reply

Question.

edit

[2] I see the article heavily dependent of this image. All i can see is sonic image and nothing else. --SkyWalker (talk) 19:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's a bit difficult, as I can't find any site that has posted all the scans on one page to link to. I was going to use the photobucket album that's currently linked to, but the album itself is marked as private. If you simply edit the SBK01.jpg to SBK02.jpg and so on, you get the full set of scans. If any other site posts them, we can use that instead. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 20:05, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Contest & Character Confirmations?

edit

SOA is currently holding a fanart contest for atwork to be placed in SBK. They're asking for art of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Blaze. Sounds like confirmations of Tails, Amy, and Blaze having a role to me! Should we add info about the contest to the article? This sounds prett good to me. I wish I could draw well...I can barely scribble... *sob* Guess I gotta start practicing! Good luck to anyone who enters!

I'm confused when they say that. Do they mean the railings that Sonic grinds on in most every game, or are they referring to how in Secret Rings Sonic moved automatically on a set path? The Great Morgil (talk) 19:50, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Music

edit

This article needs a music section. All the other Sonic games have them. Crush 40 rocks and Knight of the Wind is an awesome song. There definitely needs to be something about the music in this game. The Great Morgil (talk) 01:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

For future reference, saying that music "rocks" and is "awesome" won't help your argument.

Now, if they release a soundtrack with the game, and you can use that as a source, then perhaps that would be different. Buh6173 (talk) 02:12, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Japanese cover art needed for this article

edit

If anyone can upload the Japanese cover art for the video game and use it in this box, we would appreciate it. Just like We Started Nothing and Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned and albums, showing alternate covers, this article may also need an alternate cover, showing its origins in addition to changes in America. example image from Play-Asia.com SolanaRanger (talk) 01:16, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject:Video games policy is that Japanese information is not notable on the English wiki, in addition to two boxarts being thorny under Wikipedia's Fair Use image policy. So along with other Japan-related information, such as release dates, alternate box art is not required. Also, as a pointer to a new Wikipedian, please don't add "placeholders" as you did with your edit - if you don't have the information to hand, please do not add it all and instead leave a note on the talk page for others to help. Thanks. SynergyBlades (talk) 03:07, 15 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chili dogs

edit

Sonic's love of chili dogs is a general American localisation. In this game, the chili dog item is described as "Sonic's favorite." Chili dogs have once before been referenced in Sonic Chronicles. I believe this info should be on Sonic's own article, not this. Apparently it is embraced as much as the family name Robotnik. No, it isn't trivial if it is a full on embracing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.224.252 (talk) 18:50, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not Sure If You Wanna Count It

edit

At the begining of the article, you state that this is Jet's first appearance, outside of Riders. To correct that, Jet cameoed in Secret Rings' gallery book thingy, appeared on a card in Rivals, 2 issues of Archie, and was trophy & sticker in Brawl. Though, you guys probably don't count those, since, excluding Archie, they were cameos, and Wikipedia sees cameos as irrelevant. But I figured I'd point it out just in case. So, about Tommy Tallarico's tracks

edit

Tommy submitted three tracks for this game, but it looks like at least two of them were written by Todd Dennis for an old PS1 game called Black Dawn. Here's the twitter thread: http://twitter.com/sonicmusicfacts/status/1642503151478624258?s=42&t=hUyieDb7LclQlA5f5RlzUA Raizen1984 (talk) 21:13, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

A Sonic fan account on Twitter is not going to work as a source on Wikipedia. You need a better source to add that content. (I assume that's what you wanted to do with this info? You didn't really say.) Sergecross73 msg me 23:52, 2 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
All the tracks come from existing works that are not composed by Tallarico. The twitter account sources the games directly, so there's no reason the Wilipedia page couldn't cite this information directly to those games (Black Dawn and Ardenix). 2603:6010:F3F0:19C0:CC97:E94:AEB7:98B4 (talk) 16:06, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even your Twitter sources directly starts off with "Tommy Tallarico is credited for composing music for Sonic and the Black Knight." Writing credits on music are a specific thing. Unless the credits are officially changed through a legal battle or something, we go by official credits. Sergecross73 msg me 16:15, 6 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Again, reiterating that a Twitter fan accounts investigation does not overrule official music credits. That's not how music credits work. Just like we wouldn't alter the writing credits of Taylor Swift or Metallica songs over fans investigating the origins of their songs. I get that it's popular to hate Tallarico on the internet these days, but Wikipedia is not the place for this sort of action. Sergecross73 msg me 17:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I mean, it being popular or not is irrelevant to the fact that Tallarico very much didn't compose the tracks, even if he may legally own them through his studio. There's an entire section for Sonic 3 and Micheal Jackson's involvement even if he's not actually credited; mentioning Tallarico (a very well-documented fraudster) simply reused tracks from earlier games he didn't actually compose, nor even actually credited for composing in those games themselves (especially when one is literally ripped from Black Dawn, not recomposed at all) seems like a fair thing to add unless you're on a weird power trip about a known plagiarist and fraud having done that and it bring recorded. 4.17.85.126 (talk) 03:52, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
There's an entire section about Jackson and Sonic 3 because there's been ongoing years of reliable sources discussing the subject in great detail. It's been 1.5 years since this discussion opened and not a single person has provided a reliable source about Tallarico and Sonic. That's the difference.
