Omitting Voice actor in her Infobox

edit

I know I used this on your talk page Angus already, but I want to have it on this talk page here.

Please Stop making this a big deal Anguswoof, It's just like removing Voice actor on every on-screen voice actor's page (e.g. Clancy Brown, Alan Tudyk) just because you say it is "redundant". I honestly do not think it makes sense to have it remove on EVERONE as a lot of us are more familiar with some of the actor's voicework than their on-camera acting, of course that is secondary, but beyond that stop removing it!!!--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 04:10, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

To be honest, using the word "actor" or "actress" twice in the opening sentence is repetitive, plus those two terms on their own tend to cover both one's live-action and voice over work. I personally would encourage using "voice actor/actress" for people like Jim Cummings or Grey DeLisle whose filmographies are solely voice roles (or whose live action roles could be counted on one's fingers). Strong on the other hand has had a number of live-action roles, even if they don't get as much recognition these days as the animations she's been featured on. I have no objection to noting voice roles before live action roles as this currently does with "who has done voice work for numerous animations and video games and performed in various live-action productions" given how most of Strong's work is voice overs and how more people know her for those. Snuggums (talk / edits) 04:32, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Frankly, I have to disagree with only just leaving the pages to simply "actor" and "actress" for the actors that work in on-camera and voice over. It just doesn't fly, and even though Tara has done on-camera she been predominantly been focusing on voiceover!!!--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 04:44, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
I agree with user SNUGGUMS. —usernamekiran(talk) 05:14, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
As was suggested on other talk pages, there is also the option of adding "voice-over artist" to the occupation field instead of "voice actress" to break up such redundancy if you really need to add that to occupation. But actor in general can cover stage acting, television acting, voice-overs, and indie films. If she self-identifies as a voice actor, or has published material that clearly shows they have identified as a voice actor, as with Dee Bradley Baker / website and Yuri Lowenthal / book, and if most reliable sources out there have similarly identified her as such. I also agree that when the overwhelming majority of the Wikipedia lead roles are in voice acting, the person is a voice actor. The redundancy is more bothersome in the lead paragraph than in the infobox. The lead paragraph should not say "Strong is a voice actress and actress". The infobox may say differently since that highlights secondary occupations like author, director, and singer. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:17, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Okay it can be on the actor's main page but frankly I just disagree on removing voice actor/voice actress or Voice artist and replacing it with just Actor/Actress on the Infobox page because it just seems odd if you ask me!!--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 17:04, 26 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Are you still going to fight that same old issue again AngusWOOF? Good Grief when will you realize that this discussion is getting old move on already.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 22:35, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm saying that "voice actress, actress" looks redundant in the infobox. If you want to change that to "actress, voice-over artist", you can do so, and I wouldn't object to that. The lead sentence should NOT say "voice actress who voices". AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:55, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Just to chime in here...Voice Acting and Live Acting are two different styles. Both with their own respective Wiki Articles. They should be distinguished as such. DrkBlueXG (talk) 22:49, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

They are distinguished in her filmography. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:01, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
No offense Anguswoof but YOU are being very unreasonable here. And its funny your being VERY VERY critical with Tara Strong and how she should be listed AS ONLY and actress, yet actors like Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, Karen Strassman are also credited in their info boxes saying Voice Actors/Actress, actor given they also do on-camera work like Tara Strong. But seriously is this is going to become a never ending issue where sooner than later that some actors who worke in both on-camera and voice over (e.g. Clancy Brown, Alan Tudyk, Karen Strassman) are going to be listed with just Actor. I'm sorry but I still continue to disagree with your statement.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 23:10, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Can you go after Ashley Tisdale, David Faustino, and Katy Sagal then? They're the ones who've gone into voice acting, and yet they can't get voice actor/actress in the infobox even though they have very strong voice acting roles in prominent programs? I still disagree with placing "voice actress, actress". At least try to break it up and use voice-over artist. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:14, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
At least with Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, they have a "producer" occupation in between actor and voice actor, so the redundancy is broken up and not glaring at you in the infobox. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:17, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"I still disagree with placing "voice actress, actress". At least try to break it up and use voice-over artist." I'm sorry Angus, but I still am going to have to disagree with changing it into voice-over artist. I'm not to keen on having EVERY actor's infobox page to be changed into Actor/Actress or Actor/Actress, voice-over artist. Yes she has done On-Camera acting especially dating back in the late 1980's/early 1990's but at the end of the day the MAJORITY of her work these days is voice acting and many people including ourselves who grew up with Tara Strong remember her for her voice over roles--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 23:32, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
David Faustino seems to be the only actor you brought up that has done Voice acting on an occasion, Ashley Tisdale's voicework has been Phineas and Ferb and Skylanders Academy. As for Katey Segal, not really after Futurama she's been doing just guest appearances for voice-over.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 23:46, 16 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
It's still like 10% voice acting, so they should have voice actor in the occupation, right? Strong is about 10% in live-action roles, 14-15 screens full of voice-over roles compared to 1.5 screens of live action. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:09, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"It's still like 10% voice acting, so they should have voice actor in the occupation, right?" Not Really for Segal and Tisdale, since for the most part they mostly due just Acting and their voicework is just being one of the main cast members for an animated show (e.g. Phineas and Ferb, Futurama) or an animated movie, and a guest starring role on a specific animated series compared to the other actors that do both On-camera and voice over work for several years (e.g. Clancy Brown, Alan Tudyk, Lacey Chabert, Seth Green, Mark Hamill, Brian Doyle-Murray, Tim Curry etc..). I could continue making points and several posts "till the cows come home" while you continue to refute and counter yur point Angus, but to be frank with you it doesn't make sense to add voice actor/artist on every actors/actresses that don't do do voice over work consistently (e.g Segal and Tisdale). It's like putting in voice actor/artist for Jason Ritter or Eden Sher on their infoboxes due to their roles in Gravity Falls and Star vs. the Forces of Evil but that's because they were a part of the main cast of the show and I haven't seen ANY of them do more voice work beyond that.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 02:49, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"Strong is about 10% in live-action roles" The Same applies for other actors like Karen Strassman, Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, John DiMaggio too name a few who do around 10-15% of live-action work.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 02:50, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
I still don't understand why you're not agreeable to calling them a voice-over artist? Is that occupation not the same thing? How would you resolve the redundancy? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 03:00, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"I still don't understand why you're not agreeable to calling them a voice-over artist? Is that occupation not the same thing?"No Angus, your the one who isn't being agreeable on wether to allow Voice Actor/Actress on their infoboxes? Frankly I feel that replacing ALL of the voice actors info box pages with voice over artists it feels tacky and not to sound rude, but I will abide to just leaving in Tara Strong as just an Actress if Voice-Over makes up 90% of her voice work!! Lastly, this issue continues to be on and off throughout the months, when some anonymous user makes an edit on her page or infobox either you or Snuggums will continue to not only revert the users edit but ALSO replace her with actress in the infobox. It's simply a "rinse and repeat" cycle I continue to see and it's frustrating just to see it continue.

And going back to Tisdale and Segal they don't do voice over work consistently compared to the other actors that do it (e.g Clancy Brown, Lacey Chabert)--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 12:14, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Having the word "actress" twice in opening sentence is needlessly repetitive, which is why simply listing "actress" is enough in this case. Strong has had a number of live action roles as opposed to Grey DeLisle or Dee Bradley Baker whose filmographies almost exclusively consist of voice roles. Snuggums (talk / edits) 13:00, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
"Strong has had a number of live action roles opposed to Grey DeLisle or Dee Bradley Baker whose filmographies almost exclusively consist of voice roles." Yes but that sums up 8-10% of her work, whereas 90% of her work is PRIMARILY voice-over and that's what the majority of people and the articles remember her for.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Who said anything about replacing every single "voice actress" occupation with voice-over artist? It's only the ones that have actress right afterwards. Otherwise you'll have "voice actress, actress", "stage actress, actress". AngusWOOF (barksniff) 13:47, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
So what? I don't see the "Voice Actor/Voice actress, actor/actress" or the "Actor/actress, voice Actor/Voice actress" being redundant.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

And say what you you want from the both of you who continue to say that her infobox page should be listed as just "Actress" till the cows come home, but at the end of the day most of the articles when Tara Strong gets an interview or is featured they mostly mention her as a voice actress and her voice work, but seldom their is little mention of her on-camera work except for one article on Nerdist related to her vocal cameo as Harley Quinn on Arrow and her interview with FFonline.com on her role as Rikku when Final Fantasy X came out.

1. Interview With Voice Actress Tara Strong of Teen Titans Go!

2. Batman: Arkham's Tara Strong tells us why the SAG-AFTRA voice actors' strike is so important

3. Tons of video games's voice, stunt and motion capture actors have officially gone on strike

Repeating the word "actress" is what makes a "voice actress" listing repetitive. It's not good practice to repeat an occupation term more than once in opening sentence as that doesn't really read well. Snuggums (talk / edits) 15:37, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
First of all the first sentence in article said "An american actress who is known for her voice work....", second the voice actress is listed ON her Infobox yet you still considered it part of the first sentence, third most of the articles that I listed for you still say she is a voice actress which either you refuse to look at and want to justify on just listing her as just 'Actress". Lastly, I'm sorry but going by what DrkBlueXG posted earlier which both you and AngusWOOF still continue to dismiss and refute, Voice Acting and Live Acting are two different styles of acting and should be distinguished as such.--AnimeDisneylover95 (talk) 16:52, 17 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Uber Kerfluffle

edit

https://www.dailydot.com/upstream/tara-strong-rena-sofer-uber-driver/

Synopsis Strong and someone else I've never heard of get into a spat with an Uber driver while doing "canvassing" for some Democrat candidate. The Uber driver is a die-hard Trump supporter, an immigrant and some question is raised during the video about whether or not he's legal and/or why would he support Trump since Trump wants to close the border and prevents immigrants like him (the Uber driver) from coming into the country.

Strong posts the video on Facebook expecting reaction "A", and instead gets reaction "B", aka "backlash". Instead of demonizing the Uber driver to the social media crowd, immigrant Uber driver gets fired instead (which I think is justified, FYI) and public sympathy shifts from Strong to Immigrant Uber driver.

"Pirate" copies of the videos exist and are being uploaded by various Youtubers but Strong is "striking" said videos (meaning in Youtube parlance, she is claiming ownership of the rights to the video and forcing Youtube to take them down), so not posting link here because the one I have might be dead tomorrow. I never heard of Strong before this, so from my perspective this is the most noteworthy thing about her. Read the Article and it seems delete-worthy to me. A voice actress that worked on two films? I've never heard of. Inclusion of this kerfuffle might secure the Article's existance on Wikipedia, in case anyone is looking for content.

Also a link to the Wiki Article "the Streisand Effect" is worth considering, since suppressing the video seems to be making it more popular. There's other sources and I have no idea how to decide which is reliable and which ones are not, except of course for "Reddit". So I picked the one that looked the best (posted above).Tym Whittier (talk) 08:23, 15 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Why isn't Rick and Morty on the list of animated series she's voiced? She a recurring voice actress, voicing many characters. This is also one of the most popular animated series of the times. Hi there! Tara Strong here! Can we change marital status to divorced? Also I’d love to supply an updated picture.

Any new images would have to be free of copyright per WP:Image use policy. As for marital status, if you are in fact the real Tara and no longer married, then I'm surprised this (as far as I'm aware) hasn't already been reported in the news or announced through any of your social media posts. I assume this is the account you mean. Posting photos with others doesn't necessarily mean one is separated/divorced, and unless I missed something, there's only two recent photos with anybody that isn't Tara or their sons. A more helpful indicator would be linking to a post where he talks about involvement with a new partner or no longer being married. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 01:16, 21 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tara's veganism

edit

I've been reading wikipedia for years and regularly encounter "x is a vegan" on biopic articles. I commensurately noticed this of Tara's tweeting and checked the wikipedia article to verify. I could not verify this with her wikipedia article. I then added this to bring Tara's article in line with the rest of this wiki while improving the accuracy of the article, I've then had an irrational and emotional editor engage in "edit warring" with me, as confirmed by another editor. I'm now posting this here on their recommendation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Volound (talkcontribs) 08:13, 20 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Zionist categories

edit

I removed categories that labeled her a Zionist mostly because she isn't labeled that by any reliable source and isn't labeled that in the article, and thus fail WP:CATVER. The counter argument is that any Jew, which she is, who expresses support for Israel is a Zionist so a direct statement of her being one isn't necessary. The current Israel–Hamas conflict where she expresses her somewhat unpopular support for Israel is the apparent impetus for the Zionist label. Even if the somewhat loose definition of Zionist as being a Jew that supports Israel is accepted, it is WP:NONDEFINING in her case as she isn't generally labeled that by reliable impartial sources. The word is used to attack supporters of Israel and has a pejorative connotation as used. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:19, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I mean, Zionist is colloquially used to describe *anyone* who supports Israel. It's disingenuous to try to connect it to her Judaism when many non-Jewish figures are also called Zionists for "supporting Israel" (conveniently vague wording that leaves out her stance about Gaza specifically in this context). If Wikipedia does not consider that to be the definition for the category, fine, but it seems very odd to say "supporting the country that has been brazenly engaging in genocide is unpopular and as such the term for supporting that country has a negative connotation" as if that's something Wikipedia editors should really be concerned about. 2603:6010:F3F0:A810:145E:A466:DD09:7921 (talk) 09:43, 13 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
