I am not sure I see the relevance of a film that was never completed. Is it an attempt at claiming priority status over ET or something? The Last Heretic (talk) 05:04, 20 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

This article also covers Bankubabur Bandhu, the story which the movie was going to be based on. There are also plenty of other cancelled films which have their own articles. Jagged 85 (talk) 15:46, 18 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
As long as it has news coverage, it qualifies as notable. Dream Focus 00:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The AlienThe Alien (film) – "The Alien" should redirect to the disambiguation page Alien, since "The Alien" is frequently used to refer to the creature from the Alien franchise as well. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 12:49, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Alleged physical parallels between ET and Ray's alien

edit

Quoted from a book by Ray (or the Times of India? unclear, really ...) it's claimed there are "parallels include the physical nature of the alien" between Spielberg's ET and Ray's Alien, because Ray described his alien as "a cross between a gnome and a famished refugee child: large head, spindly limbs, a lean torso. Is it male or female or neuter? We don't know. What its form basically conveys is a kind of ethereal innocence, and it is difficult to associate either great evil or great power with it; yet a feeling of eeriness is there because of the resemblance to a sickly human child." I think this claim is completely unsustainable, especially when you look at Ray's Sketch of his alien, which looks nothing like ET, and basically all physical features he describes are common places of the Grey alien/Little green men trope, so both Spielberg and Ray just used stereotypical portrayals of extraterrestrials way older than 1967 with no distinct similarities. I think we should delete this passage because some readers could think Ray invented that stereotype. --2A02:1210:248C:1500:C968:389C:B6B0:51B1 (talk) 15:14, 21 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
