I can't seem to find any references to this story after late Jan/early Feb, except sites referencing the early stories.
But something is stranger. Ignoring the credibility of the claim, why wasn't it made earlier? The passport was issued Nov 28, 1997. At that point, Calment had recently died. Knauss was several months younger, so Yusupova would then have been making a claim to be the oldest living person. How did the government not know about a passport it itself issued? Also, the birthdate is suspiciously round: exactly in the middle of a 0-ending year. SpaceCaptain (talk) 22:33, 20 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
