Fair use rationale for Image:Veerapandiya Kattabomman.jpg

edit

Image:Veerapandiya Kattabomman.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Please note that this may take up to 10 days as I have several others reviews to do, some work I need to do and it's Easter time. Cheers.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:26, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Production
  • Where was the notice issued asking for information in 1953?
Done. changed it to "a notice was issued at Vasan's production company, Gemini Studios through Ananda Vikatan" — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 11:58, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Salem?
Linked to Salem district. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 11:57, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Padmini, O. A. K. Thevar, and V. K. Ramasamy were chosen to play Vellaiyammal, Oomaithurai and Ettappan respectively.[2] S. Varalakshmi was chosen" -rep of "chosen"
Done. Tweaked the sentence. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 11:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • "Panthulu introduces the film by adopting director Cecil B. DeMille's tactic of personally introducing the film on camera" -rep of introduces the film
How about, "Panthulu adopted American director Cecil B. DeMille's tactic of personally introducing the film on camera."? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, fine.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:50, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Music
  • It might be obvious to you/Indians but what is Mukhari? Link?
Got the link. It is derived from the Kharaharapriya raga. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 11:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Inaccuracies
  • "The film was well made but failed" -well-made according to whom?
Ask Ssven. But I feel it is irrelevant here. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Irrelevant? Claiming the film was well made is POV unless you attribute it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:06, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Done. Tweaked the sentence. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 11:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Legacy
  • "Vari, vatti, kisthi...Yaarai ketkirai vari...Etharkku ketkirai vari. Vaanam polikirathu, bhumi vilaigirathu, unakken katta vendum vari....", -this should be translated in a footnote ideally.
Pathetically, the source I got it from has many other dialogues with translations given, but not for this!  . And there is another source which has only the translation and not the original Tamil text. I'll use it soon. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The fact that it is Mohan V. Raman's own blog. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have seen the film and enjoyed it, although I felt some of the war scenes were poorly executed and amateurish, testament to a limited budget I'd guess. Like he'd fall off the fort and then it would look like he just dived on the floor to film the next part! And guns fired at the fort some of them just looked like somebody prodding a plaster wall behind it! Still, it was very good. Its a pity there isn't more info on things like costumes and set design here.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:10, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

How did you see the film? Online or CD, and were there subtitles? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:35, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
As I said before I have my sources.. And I also live near one of the biggest south Asian communities in the UK..♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:48, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
@Dr. Blofeld: As for costumes and set design, couldn't get the info as most of the articles concentrated on Sivaji Ganesan's acting rather than the film's making. Also, it was through this film that he was established as a superstar alongside MGR. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 12:05, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

All done?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:07, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Dr. Blofeld: Just the translation of the dialogue left. Kailash said he would use a reference containing the translation. — Ssven2 Speak 2 me 12:11, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK. Nothing stopping it from being promoted though. Good job! A happy Easter to you both!
