- Women's Indian Premier League → Women's Premier League (cricket)
- 2023 Women's Indian Premier League → 2023 Women's Premier League (cricket)
– The BCCI has confirmed that the name will be "Women's Premier League": [1], [2]. There are multiple sports competitions called Women's Premier League, but no other cricket competitions, so (cricket) seems like the best disambiguator. Women's Indian Premier League seems to now be an incorrect name. Joseph2302 (talk) 11:23, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 20:27, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support - The title should be 'Women's Primer Leauge', don't include 'Criket' behind it because their no article present with this title. No need to disambiguation. Rock Stone Gold Castle (talk) 13:59, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- There are many articles with Women's Premier League in the name (when spelt correctly), we shouldn't assume everyone will be looking for this new cricket tournament rather than any of the other valid possibilities. Thus, we need a disambiguator. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:01, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Joseph2302: The why should not it as 'Women's Primer Leauge (India)'? Singapore's article have this type of name in disambiguation page. And the '2023 WIPL' article should be renamed. Rock Stone Gold Castle (talk) 14:39, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- (India) would be okay with me, though as this is the only cricket tournament of that name, (cricket) seems like a more sensible disambiguation to me, and (cricket) used in some other articles where we need to disambiguate. Either way, moving to one of the names quickly seems way more sensible than leaving this at an outdated name. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:58, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Noting here that I saw User:Raydann's request at WP:RMT and moved, but reverted myself as this discussion seems to be ongoing. Silikonz💬 14:47, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Joseph2302: I agree with you. And one mor issue : The tournament yet not started but a article about its season already made. It should be renamed. Rock Stone Gold Castle (talk) 15:12, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support with the preferred disambiguator to be (cricket), rather than (India). Better clarification over the sport (as most of the other Women's Premier League's are other sports). Rugbyfan22 (talk) 19:51, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support with the preferred disambiguator to be (Cricket) rather than (India). As the user Rugbyfan22 (talk) said, It defines (what the article is about) better (as most of the other Women's Premier League's are other sports). — Akshadev (talk) 05:03, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Support Old edit: (Oppose as not any such statement is released by BCCI till now. In their social platforms they are using #WPL and it's assumptions that name will be Women's Premier League but not official yet. Maybe it'll be Women Premier League or they change the name as there are many leagues with Women's Premier League name. I think we should wait for official call from BCCI.)
- Update: I have checked BCCI website and found a article: [3] Its clearly shown here that name of league is going to be Women’s Premier League. I think this is better reference that above two that is sufficient to move the page name as it’s official on BCCI website. ㅤGorav ㅤSharmaㅤ talk 12:02, 27 January 2023 (UTC)The discussion above is closed. Remove sponsor name
editWe should remove the sponsor part in heading as we have separate season article. Your views! Gorav Sharma TALK 14:04, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'd agree with that from a preference pov certainly. Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:30, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Broadcasting
editThis whole section has just become a cluster of edit wars, so I'll revert back to a stable edit for now. Decide here what's going to say what and then we'll decide if we even need a table or not. The same general point as regards the above section applies though - will these companies always broadcast the league do we think (hint: assuming it lasts the answer is no); will a table be definitive and everlasting (hint: no, no chance, never); is this important enough to be creating a large section for (hint: not really); should we have it just because it's been jammed in on other leagues (hint: no). Blue Square Thing (talk) 13:30, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- WP:NOTDIRECTORY certainly applies, we won't need a list/table of every country that may be covering the tournament. A select list of broadcasters for the 2023 season might be appropriate on the 2023 season article, but we don't need a list of every alleged current broadcaster on this, the general WPL article. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:35, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Keep @Joseph2302:, Hi I think "alleged" word is inappropriate here, b'cause the ref is reliable and the info is helpful to readers to figure out their nation's broadcaster, for ex. If a Sri Lankan read this article he'll be aware where to watch this leauge in his place and there is no harm in keeping this info.Rock Stone Gold Castle (talk) 14:17, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- Rock Stone Gold Castle The version with the table [4] was somewhat unsourced, as the table references didn't support all of them. Also, this is a league in India, so it's not relevant who is broadcasting it in e.g. the Maldives. Also, these are the broadcasters for the 2023 season, and so if listed anywhere, the broadcasters should be in the 2023 season article not this article about the general event.
he info is helpful to readers to figure out their nation's broadcaster, for ex. If a Sri Lankan read this article he'll be aware where to watch this leauge in his place
- Wikipedia is not a not a TV directory, so it's not our job to tell people where to watch it. WP:NOTDIRECTORY is a Wikipedia policy, which overrides anyone's own preferences of "I think it's useful for TV viewing". Joseph2302 (talk) 14:44, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
@Joseph2302: Ok then, the edits in the link you provided her is not mine, a IP user vandalised it. See I wrote there WION TV's link. Should we move the table in season article? Rock Stone Gold Castle (talk) 16:04, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
Support for @Blue Square Thing. These edit wars are happening because this is first season and editors are putting 2023 season content there but I think we have to edit it from League pov not 2023 season pov. Gorav Sharma TALK 16:29, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
