Zeenat's Mother's Maiden Name?
editDoes anyone know Zeenat Aman's mother's maiden name ? I read that her mother was a Maharashtrian. On another forum I read that her mother was a Kannadiga. I am just curious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.137.2.50 (talk) 20:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Marriage to Akbar Khan
editWhy no mention of her abortive first marriage to Akbar Khan (Redacted). I think this article has been written by a sycophant, relative or other Zeenat-phile - who wants to air-brush her (Redacted) life.MajMaverik (talk) 14:35, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Merge Proposal

12 January 2021 edits
editIn these edits from 12 January 2021, I removed a ton of highly promotional content in the form of grandiose claims of Aman having the highest-grossing film of the year or second-highest grossing, or highly successful this-or-that. Language itself was a problem. For instance saying "...was the second highest-grossing film of the year" makes it sound like Aman is one of the most profitable stars in the world, when what we mean is "second highest-grossing Hindi film" or Indian film. Very little of the content was sourced, some was very poorly sourced, some was sourced but the sources didn't support the content, and some of the content was in direct contradiction with the source that had been provided. The result is that Aman's successes and financial performance were significantly inflated.
In this edit, an anonymous editor made some constructive changes, but:
- Removed {{Fanpov}} without resolving the issues.
- Removed {{citation needed}} templates without resolving the issues from the paragraph beginning: "She did her schooling in Panchgani".
- Used poor reference bestoftheyear.in to support the claim that Shalimar didn't make any money, despite that source not having an opinion about overall performance. My point being, that it is one thing to not recognise a bad reference, but it's another thing to use a reference to support a claim, that the reference does not actually support.
- Wedged the statement "it received much controversy due to Kapoor showcasing Aman's sex-appeal..." in front of a reference that did not support the claim being made. WP:OR
- Used Parlho.com as a reference, despite that it appears to encourage "citizen journalism", which sounds a lot like blogging. WP:UGC
- Claimed Dostana was a commercial success. Used bestoftheyear.in, which isn't sufficient, but also doesn't support "commercial success". So claim is fabricated.
- Called Lawaaris a commercial success, and again used poor source bestoftheyear.in, which didn't have an opinion about success, but anon also included a BOI reference, which clearly calls the film a "Flop". So again, totally fabricated claim, and in this case is contradicted by the source.
That's the bulk of the glaring issues, but this sort of promotional editing and use of poorly selected references won't be tolerated and I have reverted the IP's changes. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:35, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk and Ravensfire: I don't know if either of you are interested in helping scale back some of the promotional content in this article, but I could use some help pruning it of unsubstantiated claims, poor references, etc. But, if you aren't interested, no hard feelings or pressure! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:59, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Cyphoidbomb: Thanks for the changes and thanks for asking, I'll try. Seems like IPs are quite active here. There is another, Madhubala article. I've stopped making major edits there, only maintenance. Too much IP activity in that article. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:14, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
