The sourcing is not sufficient for DYK

Rucha Pujari

Rucha Pujari playing simultaneous chess in Kolhapur

  • My immediate concerns is that there's a fair volume of text that doesn't have inline citations attributed to them. Once that's been resolved, I'll take a second swing by and check for copy vios and reference suitability. As it stands, it meets the other criteria for length and recent creation. Miyagawa (talk) 09:03, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
  • It has been over three weeks since the above, and nothing has been done to address this issue, despite a ping to the nominator's talk page at the time. I'll do one more ping, but a response will be needed soon. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:43, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Anyone else is welcome to work on this, but I'm unlikely to do so. Thanks: Noyster (talk), 17:14, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
Reporting on duty! Will try now. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:33, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Dharmadhyaksha, I notice that your first edit, removing the unsourced Education section, was promptly reverted by the article's creator. Have you given up on trying to work on the article? If so, I think the nomination will have to be closed due to lack of sourcing here and in the first two National events paragraphs, and Noyster's disinclination to pursue the nomination further. (The creator has never responded to a talk page ping on the DYK nomination.) Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:29, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Dharmadhyaksha, thank you so much: it's much closer now. I've made some minor edits and added two tags: one for the uncited Early life paragraph, and one for the source which purports to support Pujari's first Woman International Master norm but doesn't say anything about it. Once we get these straightened away, we can ping Miyagawa to take that second swing. Please reply here when you've finished; without that notification, it can sit for days or even weeks before someone notices that the nomination appears stalled and investigates. • No worries - just let me know when to take a second look. Glad to see it is being worked on. Miyagawa (talk) 22:12, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks a lot BlueMoonset for the note and all the followup. I will look into it in next 2-3 days. I haven't been editing much these days. If not, i will at least come and close this. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 16:16, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
@BlueMoonset: I certainly am no good at writing chess articles. I end up removing stuff rather than adding anything to it. I also don't have much time these days to go and understand all jargons of chess and get the hack to find good sources about it. I would suggest someone familiar with the game should do the editing. I give up now. I have removed all the unsourced tagged sentences now; mostly about her personal life which should be damn tough to find. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 14:25, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Dharmadhyaksha, thanks for all the work you did. I do hope that someone with a chess background can be found to do further editing, but for now I think you've gotten the article to the point where it's ready to be reviewed for DYK. Miyagawa, I think it's time for that second look. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:43, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
  • I've just taken a look, and unfortunately it is still missing citations. I would expect to see at least a citation at the end of every paragraph, and currently eight paragraphs are missing citations at the end. Now this might mean that the citations are actually included in the middle of the following paragraph and all that needs to happen is that they just need to be duplicated (using "name=" in the citation parameters). Once the citations are sorted I can check everything else. Miyagawa (talk) 17:47, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Miyagawa, the DYK rule of thumb is one citation per paragraph; there's nothing that says it has to be at the end, and even if it is at the end, that the citation covers all the material in the paragraph. While I think it's definitely a good idea to have citations at the end of paragraphs, for DYK I don't believe it can be required. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:20, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
  • Ok - I've gone through the citations, one by one. The information at the end of the paragraphs isn't cited as far as I can tell. Additionally, citation #12 appears to be a dead link. Miyagawa (talk) 19:36, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Agree with Miyagawa on this one. A lot of the things that are not cited should really be cited, like victories in chess matches etc. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:07, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Although Dharmadhyaksha has done a great deal of work to improve this article after its nominator wouldn't pursue the issues, the sourcing is not sufficient for DYK, as noted by Miyagawa and Crisco 1492. Hence, I see no other alternative but to close the nomination. I'm sorry it didn't work out. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:08, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
