Fair use rationale for Image:North Korean naval ensign.gif
editImage:North Korean naval ensign.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I would like to add this line
| name alias-football = DPR Korea
Shingkei (talk) 12:58, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Not done I think you should look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Flag_Template#National_sport_team_flag_templates and make your own template for these football aliases. I see no evidence at WP:WPFT or on their talk pages that consensus supports the addition you've requested. KrakatoaKatie 05:56, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Please remove the basketball aliases. They are unnecessary, because the common alias parameter is "North Korea". Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 21:46, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

According to sources (FOTW, [1]), this file is the current naval ensign of North Korea. Previous file is a military branch flag used in parades, and it is never used as the naval ensign. Therefore it should be updated as flag alias-naval=Naval Ensign of North Korea -vector.svg
. Many thanks. --Ericmetro (talk) 15:39, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Ericmetro (talk) 15:39, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- Our article on the navy still seems to use the "previous file". The .jpg isn't a reliable source and I'm unsure whether flagspot.net is. Can you have a member of WP:WikiProject Flags or WP:WikiProject Korea weigh in? (Answering "no" to edit request for now.) --Izno (talk) 15:55, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Izno: Here is the source showing this flag used as the naval ensign. Flagspot.net is where the Flags of the World website is hosted, and it's a member of FIAV. I've also updated the infobox in the navy article. --Ericmetro (talk) 16:03, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Ericmetro: A jpg is not a reliable source. I am unsure if FOTW is a reliable source. --Izno (talk) 16:07, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Izno: According to the file descriptions the source for the other one is FOTW as well. —Nizolan (talk) 17:51, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Remove:
flag alias-1992 = Flag of North Korea (WFB 2000).png
flag alias-2000 = Flag of North Korea (WFB 2000).svg
flag alias-2004 = Flag of North Korea (WFB 2004).svg
flag alias-2013 = Flag of North Korea (WFB 2013).svg
and
var2 = 1992
var3 = 2000
var4 = 2004
var5 = 2013
Remove these flags as they are just based on the shades used in pictures in different editions of the CIA World Factbook (you can see if you open the flag image) and not are official or even real changes to the flag used by North Korea, they should not be included and especially not linked to a specific year. This will not break anything as the pages using these aliases will revert to North Korea default flag, which these are (incorrect) variations of. Havsjö (talk) 19:39, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Use of title "North Korea"
editAccording to the lists maintained by the UN, the name used for "North Korea" in all correspondence and references is "People's Democratic Republic of Korea". Can the "North Korea" flag template be edited accordingly by the author so that the country and flag can be referenced correctly elsewhere - for example, in the list of IHO Member States. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharkey51 (talk • contribs) 09:21, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
