Corporation(s)?

edit

More than one article including the infobox seems to use the variable "estates" interchangebly for real estates and brand assets etc. Would it be helpful to offer to a more specific variables for the latter information, such as "properties", "corporations" or something to that effect? PPEMES (talk) 16:32, 27 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

I've added properties as a parameter. --Paul_012 (talk) 06:21, 24 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Coat of arms caption

edit

I changed the image to |coat_of_arms= at Ancestry of George Washington. |coat_of_arms_caption= isn't showing up and I'm not sure why. --Auric talk 14:59, 30 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Strange. While speaking of it, I observe that "coat_of_arms_caption" exemplifies as "motto". Still, we have a dstinct variable "motto". Why not move "motto" variable to the top, pretty right under the coat of arms capton image? PPEMES (talk) 07:15, 31 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed change to "Cadet branches"

edit

Hello, I would like to propose changing "Cadet branches" to "Branches". An alternative would be to add an "Elder branches" option. What do you think? --Brookford (talk) 22:08, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

There are the variables "Parent family" and "Cadet branches". Could you provide more arguments for renaming the latter to "Branches"? PPEMES (talk) 11:12, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
@PPEMES: Sometimes the elder branch is different from the parent family. If a family split into 3 branches, what would the other 2 be called on the page of the most cadet branch?--Brookford (talk) 06:07, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

"Ethnicity" parameter

edit

Does anyone adding "ethnicity" parameter for this article, House of Bourbon. --ZmeytheDragon16 (talk) 22:16, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposal

edit

Shouldn't this template have "seat" as an important parameter, in addition to the "estate" parameter?--౪ Santa ౪99° 23:28, 9 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Religion

edit

This is not working. Beshogur (talk) 16:29, 20 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

It was recently removed. Celia Homeford (talk) 12:23, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible to add it back? Religion is an important part of some families identities so much that they fought wars over it. Thomas Norren (talk) 10:26, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 22 May 2021

edit

Currently, {{Infobox family}} flags a page in "Show preview" that uses |branches= by displaying a warning that "branches" is unsupported and then when the page is published, it adds the page to Category:Pages using infobox family with unknown parameters, but it still displays the label and value in the Infobox on the published page. So, if |branches= is still supported, it should be added to the code that checks for unsupported parameters. On the other hand, if |branches= should not be supported, then the code that allows it to be displayed (label27/data27) should be removed. – 108.56.139.120 (talk) 07:03, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Note: Moving this request to the TPER queue for review. I know it's not template-protected but I'm not sure what's going on here (or what's being requested, really). ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 16:14, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Not done for now: There is no clear change being requested, so an edit request is inappropriate. Elli (talk | contribs) 04:30, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Let me try rewording the request.
In the #invoke:Check for unknown parameters section of the code, change this:
| cadet branches | website |
to this:
| cadet branches | branches | website |
This change will fix the template so that it does not warn in "Show preview" that |branches= as an unknown parameter, as |branches= is supported in the Infobox section of the code. If this request needs clarification or further discussion, I will do my best to help. – 108.56.139.120 (talk) 06:38, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Done Please add |branches= to the documentation page, which is not protected. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:02, 23 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Can we get a parameter Family seat for this Infobox - we have it for the "family clan" infobox, but it's even more approprate and needed for this one.--౪ Santa ౪99° 15:25, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: According to the page's protection level you should be able to edit the page yourself. If you seem to be unable to, please reopen the request with further details. Curbon7 (talk) 05:06, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanx, @Curbon7:, I dared to do it on my own, and was half successful. I don't possess the necessary skills nor experience, however, I managed to include two parameter but one doesn't appears in the template, and I can't identify exact reason. Could you help me find the reason why this second parameter did not appear?--౪ Santa ౪99° 20:10, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
There was a typo in the code, which I've corrected. Celia Homeford (talk) 14:24, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Celia Homeford, I really appreciate it. Warm regards from the annoyingly cold and gloomy place, and happy holidays!--౪ Santa ౪99° 19:36, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sibling duos/trios

edit

Is this suitable for professional collaborations within a family, or is there a better template for that? Arlo James Barnes 17:54, 8 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

cadet branches wl to Cadet branch?

edit

The term "cadet" or "cadet branch" is not well known, so I think a link to it's article would be helpful in the template. Bogger (talk) 07:13, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Separate "name" and "surname" parameters?

edit

Is it possible to 'unmerge' the "name" and "surname" parameters? Obviously for most families these will be the same, but for some nobles and royals, they'll be different. For example on House of Windsor someone has crowbarred Mountbatten-Windsor in as a "cadet branch" (which it is not) very possibly in an attempt to reflect this. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 15:13, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pronunciation

edit

Why is there no parameter "pronunciation"?-- Carnby (talk) 18:41, 13 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Rivers

edit

Many peoples, particularly the Māori people, find which river and mountain is their ancestral river and mountain really important family information. They also often put the ancestral boat which their family / tribe came here from. Would you all mind if I added a River, Mountain and a Boat tab to aid people who are writing about Māori families or families of any peoples who find that important?
