Hi {{subst:PAGENAME}},
I notice that you have edited Australian road articles (in the past) (and are a member of WikiProject Highway's Oceania Task Force. I have recently started up a new project for Australian roads, with the goal of improving Wikipedia's coverage of Australian roads – currently the vast majority of articles are stub or start class. The project pages are located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Australian Roads, if you want to take a moment to look around, and join up if you're interested. Thanks, ~~~~
Highways in Western Australia
editHighways and other major roads in Western Australia can be described in terms of three overlapping systems.
Road routes
editNumbered road routes connect major centres within Perth, Western Australia, and across the state's border. These routes can follow multiple roads, and some route concurrencies exist.
Legislation
editIn legislation, a highway is a road that has been proclaimed as such under the Main Roads Act 1930. These highways designations are only used internally within Main Roads Western Australia, and the roads these highways follow may have different names.
Named highways
editNamed highways do not necessarily correspond to road routes or procliamed highways.
Outback tracks
editAs the outback covers most of Western Australia, tracks provide vital links to remote communities and settlements. It must be emphasised that these tracks are unsealed, remote and in many cases pass through restricted areas. They should only be negotiated by experienced drivers.
