Good work doing the KD winner articles. Re your edit to Vagrant (horse). We use the Thoroughbred Heritage retrospective Champions of the Turf from their website. Re the cite request above for Infoboxs. We use the horse's profile found at Pedigree Query. Also, if you like, you can get the other races won by all Derby winners here by typing in the year they won. Handicapper (talk) 17:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Black Caviar

edit

Hi there, thanks for our edit to Black Caviar (horse). As you seem to be pretty knowledgeable about horse racing, I was wondering if you could explain it a bit more to me (as I know very little about it). If you see the newspaper article I referenced when I added that info, it claims that BC is currently ranked the world's best racehorse, not just the best Australian or best sprinter. So, I was hoping you could clarify this for me. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 02:00, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks so much for explaining that to me and for clarifying it in the article as well (and the extra ref). Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 03:53, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Why are furlongs only included in some races?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:23, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
The race length for those two maiden runs was in furlongs (1 mile = 8 furlongs) as opposed to miles like the other races. A thought the reader might like to know how long a furlong is compared to miles or km since the official chart lists the distance in furlongs.Froggerlaura (talk) 21:52, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

I figured I would post this on your wall as well as the DYK page:

I think I have addressed most issues posed. First off, I really like the alternate hook, besides sounding less clunky (as I think you put it), it also sounds a bit more interesting as well! I have overhauled some sections that reviewers had mentioned may have issues with them, refined the sources quite a bit, fixed over-linking, and I added the source you had recommended (GREAT SOURCE BY THE WAY!). Let me know if there are any other concerns, and I will fix them immediately :). Thank you again for taking the time to review this article, your time is greatly appreciated! --Kgw2 (talk) 16:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I will address this issue immediately and let you know once it has been resolved. Thank you for your fast input on what needs to be addressed still! --Kgw2 (talk) 20:29, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Just as an update, work has been done to the final two issues you had brought up. Provided nothing different occurs in the next 3 days, the discussion over the move will be closed on the 10th, and hopefully this article will be good to go for the DYK. Thanks again for all your help with this article! I will update you on the 10th as to the conclusion of the discussion of the move etc. --Kgw2 (talk) 18:49, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Hey sorry to bother you but I though I would check, for a cite that we used say 50 pages on, if, for instance, we used something like pages 90-92 for one source, and 132-133 for another, would I just want to make that 2 separate citations even though it is the same source? Also thank you again for all the helpful notes you have given us, they REALLY improved the article a tremendous amount! --Kgw2 (talk) 07:06, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Froggerlaura. I noticed your good work on Eleanor (horse) and was about to nominate it for DYK. Will the article be ready soon? There are two sections still empty, so I think you are still working on it. I hope to post the nom. on T:TDYK soon, before the article becomes more than 5 days old and thus ineligible. Another cry for help/ research problem. Tbheritage have Blink Bonny running twice as a four-year-old and winning once. I had no problem finding the defeat, (pulled up at Goodwood) but I've had no luck finding the win. Maybe a walkover or a match where the other runner forfeited? Tigerboy1966 (talk) 18:32, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. The Goodwood report does make it sound like a "first and last" appearance. I did notice that you made a sub-page for resources, which is very useful. Also thanks for the extra details on Queen Mary and "Little Jack" Charlton. Good job on Prince Leopold as well, although I can't say I enjoyed reading it- it's a sad story. Horse birthdays

edit

I bet you know this anyway but... the practice of all horses having their official birthday on 1 January only dates from 1834. Before that it was 1 May- at least at Newmarket. It can make some reports a bit confusing: runners at the Newmarket Craven meeting (more important then than now), often seem to have the "wrong" ages. TbHeritage got a bit confused by this.[6] I have included an explanation with a (print) ref in the Spaniel article.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 07:14, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
