This is a timeline of incidents in 2011 that have been labeled, or investigated as possible cases of "terrorism," and are not believed to have been carried out by a recognised state government or its forces (see state terrorism and state-sponsored terrorism).

1 Bomb 2 9   Narathiwat, Thailand Following warnings of New Year violence two bomb disposal police officers were killed after a street vendor alerted police about a suspicious motorcycle parked by two teenagers.[2]
1 IED 1 0   southern Afghanistan An ISAF personnel was killed in the explosion.[3]
2 Incendiary bomb 0 0   Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada RCMP in Burnaby, B.C said a morning explosion at a community centre was intentionally caused by an ïncendiary device. No deaths or injuries were reported but the doorway to the centre received damage and several bricks in the front were knocked off.[4]
2 Targeted shootings 5 0   Baghdad, Iraq Suspected insurgents killed four members of Iraq’s security forces and a city engineer. All shootings were similar in using silencers and occurred within an hour of each, which suggested a coordinated campaign against security officials and government workers. No one immediately claimed responsibility. [5]
3 Suicide car Bombing 1 15   Baquba, Iraq A security intelligence office was targeted by a suicide car bomber. One person was killed in the blast and fifteen people were injured, including ten shoolchildren whose bus was driving by when it was struck by the blast. Three of the injured were in a serious condition.[6]
4 IED 0 15   Turbat, Balochistan, Pakistan A bus carrying children of paramilitary soldiers was attacked, resulting in fifteen children being injured, five of them seriously and the rest discharged from hospital on the same day. The bus was escorted by two military vehicles, though neither of those were hit. No one has claimed responsibility, though Balo nationalist groups were active in the area.[7]
4 Shooting 1 0   Islamabad, Pakistan Salman Taseer, a high ranking member of the Pakistani's Prime Minister's party and governor of the Punjab province was shot and killed by his bodyguard as he stepped out of his car in Islamabad. It is believed he was assassinated for his opposition to Pakistan's blasphamy law.[8]
5 Attempted plane hijacking 0 0 Oslo/Istanbul A man who spoke Turkish and wearing a mask demanded that the Turkish Airlines flight return to Oslo and threatened to blow up the plane. On arrival in Istanbul police arrested the man.[9]
5 Bombs 5 0   southern and eastern Afghanistan As Afghan National Army begun Operation Omid leading supportive ISAF forces, the Defence Ministry announced two bombs killed three civilians, including a UN worker, and a soldier.[10]
5 Bombing and shooting 0 3   Bamako, Mali A suspected Al Qaeda militant tossed an explosive device at the French Embassay in Mali and the explosive device hit a sentry post. The suspect was injured and arrested by private security after one of them was shot and another received burns from the explosion.[11]
7 Suicide bombing 16 20   Spin Boldak, Kandahar, Afghanistan A suicide bomber attacked a public bathhouse, which Zalmai Ayoubi, a spokesman for the governor, said targeted a border police commander who was bathing at the time of the attack.[12]
7 Ambush shooting 10 0   Lawdar, Abyan, Yemen Reports said 15 suspected Al Qaeda gunmen ambushed army vehicles that were escorting a lorry with food supplies to an army base using rocket-propelled grenades.[13]
7 Shooting 0 4   near the Gaza border, Israel Two armed men crossed the buffer zone between the Gaza Strip before opened fire on soldiers.[14]
8 Rocket 0 2   near the Gaza border, Israel A rocket fired from Gaza hit a farm near the border injuring two Thai agricultural workers. Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.[15]
9 Rockets 0 0   near the Gaza border, Israel Three rockets were fired from Gaza hit the Ashkelon region.[16]
10 Ambush 11 0   Kurdufan, Sudan During the Southern Sudan independence referendum, 2011 fighters from the Misseriya ambushed 11 people on their way to vote.[17]
14 Car bomb 4 8+   Khasavyurt, Dagestan, Russia A car bomb explosion ripped through a cafe, with the blast killing and injuring both cafe workers and customers within the city of Khasavyurt, which is located within the volatile, southern Russian republic of Dagestan.[18]
17 Bomb 0 0   Derry, Northern Ireland A bomb exploded at Guildhall Square in the centre of Derry. No one was killed or injured in the blast and the bomb caused some damage to buildings in the area.[19]
17 Bombing attempted 0 0   Spokane, Washington A bomb was defused in the city of Spokane. No one was killed or injured in the incident.
18 Letter bomb attempted 0 0   Berlin, Germany A letter bomb was sent to the Croatian embassy in Berlin. It was made safe before it could explode and cause damage or injury.[20]
19 Suicide bombing 14 60+   Baquba, Iraq A suicide bomber used a ambulance as a van bomb to attack a police compound in Baquba killing 14.[21]
19 Bombing 0 5   Feni District, Bangladesh A bomb exploded on a bus in Feni District no one was killed but five people were wounded in the blast.[22]
20 Car bombing 45 135   Karbala, Iraq Two car bombs exploded in Karbala killing 45 people and wounded 135 most of them pilgrims during the Shia Muslim festival of Arbaeen.[23]
20 Bombing 0 0   Makiivka, Ukraine Two bombs exploded in the city of Makiivka. This frist bomb exploded at 4:40pm near to a shopping mall. The second bomb exploded one hour later next to the entrance to the state enterprise Makeevugol. No one was killed or injured in the blasts but damage was caused to the state enterprise Makeevugol building.[24] .[25]
21 Bombing attempted 0 0   Belfast, Northern Ireland A bomb was found at Queen's University Officers Training Corps in Belfast. The bomb was made safe before it could explode and cause any damage or injury.[26]
23 Car Bombing 6 30   Baghdad, Iraq Five car bombs exploded in Baghdad which killed six and wounded 30 people.[27]
24 Bombing 25 57   Karbala, Iraq Two bombs exploded killing 25 and wounded 57. The frist blast struck a bus carrying terminal filled with buses carrying pilgrims to Karbala. The second blast hit the southern outskirts of the city.[28]
24 Suicide Bombing 35 130   Moscow, Russia A suicide bomber attacks Moscow's Domodedovo International Airport killing 35 people and wounded 130 more.[29]
25 Suicide Bombing 15 50   Lahore, Karachi, Pakistan Two suicide bomber targeted Shia Muslim in Lahore and Karachi killing 15 and wounded 50 people.[30] [31]
25 Bombing 4 15   Manila, Philippines A bomb exploded on a bus in the city of Manila killing four people and wounded 15 more people.[32]
25 Car Bombing attempt/Bombing attempt 0 0   Belfast, Northern Ireland A number of controlled explosions was carried out on a car bomb that was parked near Antrim Road police station in north Belfast. A second bomb was also found next to a shop on the same road that was also made safe. Three phone call was made about were the car bomb was over 50 people were removed from there homes becasue of the alert. The group called Óglaigh na hÉireann claiming responsibility for the car bomb.[33][34]
25 Bombing/Derailment 0 0   North Cachar Hills district, India A bomb derails a freight train after exploding under a bridge in North Cachar Hills district between Tripura and Mizoram. No one was killed or injured but the bridge was damage in the bombing.[35]
26 Pipe Bombing attempted 0 0   Carnlough, Northern Ireland A pipe bomb was found in the village Carnlough.The bomb was made safe before it could explode and was takan away forr further investigation. The group calling itself Loyalist Action Force claiming responsibility for the bomb.[36][37]
27 Car Bombing 55 50+   Baghdad, Iraq A car bomb exploded near a funeral in Baghdad. The bombing killed 30 people and wounded 50 more.[38]
27 Car Bombing 4 6   Khasavyurt, Russia A car bomb exploded outside a cafe in the city of Khasavyurt killing four and wounded six people.[39]
28 Shooting/Suicide Bombing 8 Unkown   Kabul, Afghanistan A suicide bomber blow himself after the bomber opaned fire on people in a supermarket in the city of Kabul. The attack killed 8 people.[40]

2 Letter bomb attempted 0 0   Athens, Greece A letter bomb was sent to the justice ministry in Athens police destroyed the bomb before it could cause any damage or injury.[43]
3 Car Bombing/Suicide Bombing 8 15   Ramadi, Iraq A car bomb and a suicide bomber attack the city of Ramadi killing 8 and wounded 15 people.[44]
3 Bombing 0 30   Puerto Rondón, Tame, Colombia The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia exploded a bomb as soldiers were on route to defuse a car bomb in the town of Neiva. The blast happened between two towns of Puerto Rondón and Tame which wounded 30 soldiers.[45]
4 Bombing 1 24   Lahore, Pakistan A bomb exploded in the city of Lahore killing one person and wounded 24 more people.[46]
5 Bombing 0 0   Rafah, Gaza Strip A bomb exploded next to a church in the town of Rafah. No one was killed or injured in the blast but did damage to the church.[47]
5 Pipe Bombing 0 0   Thessaloniki, Greece A pipe bomb exploded next to a building in the city of Thessaloniki. No one was killed or injured in the blast but did damage to the building and a number of cars.[48]
5 Car Bombing 3 2   Khyber Agency, Pakistan Three people were killed and two were wounded after a car bomb exploded in the village of Barqambarkhel which is in Khyber Agency.[49]
5 Car Bombing/Bombing 0 16   Samarra, Iraq 16 people were wounded after two bombs exploded in the city of Samarra. Most of the people that were wounded was Shiite pilgrims. The first bomb was a car bomb which exploded at a bus station and the second bomb exploded next to a bus carrying pilgrims.[50]
8 Bike Bombing attempted 0 0   Belfast, Northern Ireland A booby trap bomb was attached to child's bike in north Belfast. The bomb was made safe before it could explode. Three man was arrested hours later by police.[51]
9 Suicide Car Bombing 8 100+   Kirkuk, Iraq Three suicide car bombers exploded in the city of Kirkuk killing eight poeple and wounded 67 more. The frist bomb exploded as police patrol passed the car bomb. The second car bomb exploded at a checkpoint for the headquarters for Kurdish intelligence. The the thired car bomb exploded near the compound's.[52]
9 Bombing 0 2   Jalalabad, Afghanistan A bomb exploded outside a university in the city of Jalalabad. The blast struck a passing bus casuing 2 people to be injured.[53]
10 Suicide Bombing 31 Unkown   Mardan, Pakistan A suicide bomber between the age of 10 or 12 blown himself up at a army compound in the city of Mardan killing 31.[54]
12 Bombing/Derailment attempted 0 2   Sindh, Pakistan Three bombs exploded on railways tracks in Karachi, Hyderabad and Nawabshah and wounded two poeple.[55]
12 Suicide Bombing 48 80   Samarra, Iraq A suicide bomber blow himself up next to a bus carrying Shia pilgrims in the city of Samarra killing 27.[56]
12 Suicide Bombing/Car Bombing/Shooting/Rocket 15 49   Kandahar, Afghanistan The Taliban attack the police HQ in the city of Kandahar. There were two suicide bomber and a car bomb exploded near the building as gun fire and a rocket struck the building. The attack killed 15 and wounded 49 more.[57]
12 Bombing/Derailment attempted 0 0   Oranienburg, Germany Two bombs were found and defused by police. The bombs were planted on two rail signals in the town of Oranienburg.[58]
13 Car Bombing 0 18   Yala, Thailand A car bomb exploded outside a bank in the city of Yala. The bombing caused the bank and some shops to caught fire. The blast injured 18 people.[59]
14 Suicide Bombing 1 7   Makhachkala, Russia A suicide bomber blow himself up outside a police station in the city of Makhachkala killing one officer and wounded seven more.[60]
17 Car Bombing 13 30   Muqdadiyah, Iraq 13 people was killed and 30 wounded after a car bomb exploded in the city of Muqdadiyah. The car bomb exploded outside car sales centre.[61]
17 Pipe bombing attempted 0 0   Terre Haute, Indiana A pipe bomb was left outside the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in the city of Terre Haute. The bomb was made safe before it could explode and casue any damage or injury.[62]
18 Suicide Bombing/Car Bombing 11 Unkown   Khost, Afghanistan A suicide car bomber blow himslef up at a police checkponit in the city Khost killing 11 poeple.[63]
19 Suicide Bombing 18 70   Jalalabad, Afghanistan A suicide bomber blow himslef up outside a bank in the city of Jalalabad kllling 8 and wounded 70 people.[64]
21 Car Bombing/Suicide Bombing 8 35   Mogadishu, Somalia A suicide car bomber explded outside a police station in Mogadishu killing 8 and wounded 35 more.[65]
24 Suicide Bombing 8 15   Ramadi, Iraq A suicide bomber explded at a cultural centre in the city of Ramadi killing 8 and wounded 15.[66]
25 Bombing attempted 0 0   Hove, England A bomb was found outside a restaurant in the town of Hove. The bomb was made safe after by bomb disposal team before it could explode.[67]

2 Ambush 0 0   Derry, Northern Ireland The Real IRA were behind a attack on PSNI officers. Shoots were fired at the officers in the city of Derry as they were patrolling the area of grassy for a stolen car. The car was found on Glen Road and was about to be taken away when the gunman opened fire. No one was killed or injured in the attack.[69][70][71]
2 Ambush 6 8   Caloto, Colombia Gunman opaned fire on a helicopter delivering money to a local bank on landing at Caloto. The attack killed six, four police officers and two people and wounded 8 people.[72]
3 Suicide Bombing 9 8   Haditha, Iraq A suicide bomber blow himself up at a bank in the town of Haditha killing 9 and wounded 8 more people.[73]
3 Bombing 3 21   Abuja, Nigeria A bomb exploded during a political meeting in the city of Abuja. The blast killed three and 21 people were wounded.[74]
4 Bombing 0 0   Antananarivo, Madagascar A homemade bomb exploded missing a convoy on the highway in the city of Antananarivo. The blast did no killed or injured and causing no damage.[75]
4 Bombing 9 30   Naushera, Pakistan A bomb exploded at a mosque in the village of Naushera killing 9 and wounded 30 people.[76]
6 Pipe Bombing 0 1   Jerusalem, Israel A pipe bomb exploded in the city of Jerusalem and wounded one person.[77]
8 Car Bombing 20 120   Faisalabad, Pakistan A car bomb exploded at a gas station in the city of Faisalabad killing 20 people and wounded 120. The bombing cause a number of cars and buildings to be destroyed.[78]
9 Bombing 5 0   Djelfa, Algeria A bomb exploded in the city of Djelfa hitting a vehicle killing five people.[79]
9 Bombing 0 0   Moscow, Russia A bomb exploded at a bus shelter near Moscow's FSB secret police academy. No one was killed or injured in the blast but three cars and the bus stop itself were damaged.[80]
10 Bombing 3 9   Jolo, Philippines A bomb exploded outside a school in the city of Jolo on the island of Jolo island. The blast killed 3 and wounded 8 more people.[81]
11 Pipe Bombing 0 0   Belfast, Northern Ireland DUP candidate's houase was damaged in a pipe bomb blast after it was thrown thw window of the house. No one was killed or injured in the blast.[82]
29 Car Bombing attempted 0 0   Derry, Northern Ireland A 200 hundred pound car bomb was defused on outside a courthouse on Bishop Street in Derry.[83]
31 Bombing attempted 0 0   Dortmund, Germany Three bombs were found and made safe out the Dortmund football stadium. No one was killed or injured in the incident a 25 year old man was arrested hour later.[84]

3 Suicide Bombings 41 Unkown   Punjab, Pakistan Two suicides bombers exploded at a Sakhi Sarwar shrine in Punjab killing 41 people.[88]
9 Van bombing attempted 0 0   Newry, Northern Ireland A 500lb van bomb was left on Belfast to Dublin road near Newry. The bomb failed to exploded and the army made the bomb safe.[89]
