DYK for Sister exchange
editOn 11 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sister exchange, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in some societies, your spouse's sibling is also your sibling's spouse? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sister exchange. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Sister exchange), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Thank you, Ле Лой, for contributing this well researched article to the EN wiki. Your work on Māori phonology is also impressive. I see you have parallel versions of both of these in Russian. As you have written over 600 new articles on the RU wiki, perhaps you will now be able to devote a little more time to writing in English. We look forward to more!--Ipigott (talk) 09:25, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Ipigott, this is so sweet of you! I also hope to work in EN wiki more often in the future. Cheers! Le Loy 09:32, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- How about Kiyoko Miyagi. We are keen to cover the lives of outstanding women in order to increase the proportion of women on the EN wiki. See wp:Women in Red. (Just a suggestion - it's really up to you how you contribute.)--Ipigott (talk) 09:41, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Honestly, articles about people are my least favourite ones to write. I have eternal respect to the Women in Red project members such as yourself, but I'm much better at writing about stuff like Katu people and Qiyan (check the RU versions which I intend to translate at some point). By the way, would it be rude to just replace the whole article with translated text in the case of Katu people? Le Loy 10:21, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Your Russian article on the Katus is really good. I see you provide interesting details of how women weave traditional cotton fabrics and how they are also the ones who grow rice and tobacco and participate in the rice harvest. The easiest way forward would indeed be to replace the existing English version with a translation of your Russian but I would suggest you try to maintain some of the existing contributions to the article, unless they are wrong or misleading. While you cover their music, I don't think you include details of their dance while the existing English article refers to the "tung tung" and "ya ya" dances. In this connection, you could contact WilliamThweatt who is the major contributor to the English article and still appears to be active. But maybe first you should create an English version as a draft so that others can appreciate the detail.--Ipigott (talk) 12:39, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, yes, of course; I was thinking more of "not having to maintain the current citation style" etc, not just "I want to delete everything". Thank you so much for your help! This kind of support is tremendously helpful for a person who isn't familiar with the local culture -- even if they have experience working in other language editions. Le Loy 00:03, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- I don't think there is any need to adopt the current citation style. As articles expand and increase in quality, the harv approach is frequently adopted. I suggest you do the same, as in Sister exchange. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.--Ipigott (talk) 08:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Mind doing a spot-check for copyvio on ruWiki?
editI'm almost finished clearing up Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20240516 (which basically involved removing all edits that this user made that were a)still here and b) involved any prose) and I've noticed that they're much more active on ruWiki. Obviously, enWiki behaviour has no bearing on any other Wiki, and a lot of people end up committing copyright violations in their second language that they wouldn't dream on doing in their first, but would you mind doing a spotcheck of the contributor's ruWiki edits to see if there's an issue? I'd do it myself but I don't speak Russian, and I wouldn't know the process to remove them if I did. Thanks, and if there does turn out to be an issue, sorry for dumping it on you. - Sure, will do! Thanks for letting me know. Le Loy (talk) 09:48, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
User:Le Loy alt
editI was just reviewing Standard Swahili language and saw that it was created by the above user, but when I clicked through, it redirected to your user page. A doppelgänger alt accounts is allowed, but you should refrain from editing on it unless you're using it permissibly in another way (such as for security on public networks), in which case, you should declare your use of that account on your user page. voorts (talk/contributions) 04:23, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, this information is already present on my user page along with the link to the rule that allows using an alt account. Le Loy (talk) 05:42, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- My bad; I'm not sure how I missed that. Happy editing, voorts (talk/contributions) 05:45, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
