License tagging for Image:493-bug.png

Thanks for uploading Image:493-bug.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Vicvance.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.Tamatisk 08:26, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Gta.png not showing up in Userbox

Just to let you know, the image Gta.png that you put in the GTA Task Force userbox isn't showing up, so either it's been deleted or linked incorrectly. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 14:03, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Weird. It still shows up for me... .:Alex:. 14:12, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
I've just had tried on my other computer as well as clearing the cache and it still doesn't show up (in IE or FF), but I've been told it shows up to someone on another ISP. very weird. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 14:29, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Hm. NOW it's been removed for some reason. Weird... .:Alex:. 16:50, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
My friend tells me it's not showing up for him now either when it did before. I think I'll revert it back to the text version until the image problem is fixed. ●BillPP (talk|contribs) 13:04, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Image:Toni.PNG renamed as Image:GTALCS characters ToniCipriani.png

I hope you don't mind if I resubmit your image with a more specific name, and nominate the older image for deletion. It's important to provide specific file nams for images to avoid any sort of conflict when an image of the same name is uploaded, or when there is an existing image with the same name. It also helps identify the image better by simply reading the file name. Thanks. ╫ ï¼’5 ◀RingADing▶ 17:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC) ╫

Oh that's fine. I only uploaded new images to replace the older ones as they were a bit blurry and some of them were possibly uploaded at a time when the game was still in development. The whole name thing slipped my mind. Thanks! .:Alex:. 17:23, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Creating a storyline for the series???

Do you think the Grand Theft Auto Series should have a storyline article??? VidGmr 19:25, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Interesting idea. Perhaps. I'm not sure it's been done before, so I'm curious as to how you envisage the article. .:Alex:. 19:43, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, I got one stored and typed on Microsoft Word. VidGmr 22:18, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Would it be cool?? VidGmr 20:40, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Would you mind if I could view a copy of it so I may see? Wikipedia is very tricky with these sorts of things. .:Alex:. 15:45, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Prod

  • Prod tags can be removed without reason, as the act of removing it is an objection to the proposed deletion and the tag is for unopposed deletion. The next step is to AfD the articles. Don't re-add the prod tags. JuJube 20:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Good work on adding those pictures! Barney Johnson 07:17, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Renaming Image:Ricardodiaz.png to Image:GTAVCS characters Ricardo Diaz.png

Hi. I've decided to rename an image that you have uploaded, Image:Ricardodiaz.png, to Image:GTAVCS characters Ricardo Diaz.png to provide a more specific description of the image in order for better identification and lesser likeliness of naming conflict. The image is still credited under your name, and the file history of the original file has been inherited here. Hope you don't mind. ╫ ï¼’5 ◀RingADing▶ 08:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC) ╫

Not a problem at all. Thank you. .:Alex:. 08:14, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Re: Updating Image:GTAVCS_characters_Marty_Williams.jpg

Sure, just make sure to name it as "Image:GTAVCS characters Marty Williams.jpg" (or "Image:GTAVCS characters Marty Williams.png" if it's a PNG image. Since the replaced image is no longer in use, you can go ahead and list it in Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion as well; no need to notify me again. ╫ ï¼’5 ◀RingADing▶ 08:54, 6 May 2007 (UTC) ╫

Image:GTAVC PC gangs SecurityGuards.jpg

Hello .:Alex:., an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:GTAVC PC gangs SecurityGuards.jpg) was found at the following location: User:.:Alex:./Sandbox. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 12:24, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Need your help

Hi, Alex. I need your assistance with determining whether the Loco Syndicate fits our criteria for inclusion on the list of gangs in GTA series article. I have posted some comments under adherence to each criterion, but need someone else's opinion. You seem to have better knowledge of them than I. Can you help? Eganio 02:35, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Cholos gang.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cholos gang.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 22:15, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Gordon-Brown.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Gordon-Brown.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Deskana (talk) 15:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Edit summary usage.

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers.
