Orphaned non-free media (Image:Gtalogowhite.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Gtalogowhite.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:05, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Will you be willing to Adopt me? I am very new to this site, and although I've spent all afternoon reading Wikipedia's information, I can't quite wrap my head around a few things. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaronweinhaus (talkcontribs) 01:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Repeat Offender

Hi. I have caught 99.224.42.74 messing stuff up 3 times and now and have warned him on his talk page for each. I'm not going to take the time to read about ban policies and such on here, so I guess you take can take whatever action is needed. Thanks. --TGothier (talk) 17:39, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Chrysler Building cultural depiction

Make sure you cite reliable sources next time when you add such gaming content to the article. I've done it for you this time round. Someformofhuman Speak now! 01:06, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Roman Bellic

Why did you replace the image with the image you uploaded? I think the one I uploaded shows the character more clearly. Nothing personal, just wanted to know why. JayJ47 (talk) 05:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Adoption?

Still Adopting? Look to start out in writing/editing articles and some balanced debate particularly in gaming-related articles.

Thanks

Request for assistance / comment

Thanks for checking in at WP:VG on my merge proposals. I was hoping you could quickly repost your support at the Shoot em up talk page, Grand strategy wargame talk page, and Space flight simulator talk page. I know it's a little tedious, but you'll save me huge amounts of time and energy if this should go to a revert war. I want to be able to say "consensus built: see talk page". Thanks a million! Randomran (talk) 22:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate you checking in. This will prevent a lot of problems. Thanks again! Randomran (talk) 23:37, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Ban needed

Hello. I know user Ninjatheory from school and all he does is vandalise. I have undid most of his edits, and he continues to vandalise. Take a look, I think a ban is needed. --Tyler (talk) 16:59, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Alex - I'm French-Malagasy, living in France, and I'm intersted in wrinting articles in wiki about my current fields of interests (history, music, litterature, science, ethnomatematics). I have already notably contributed in the article "Andrianampoinimerina", a bio of the greatest king of Madagascar island. Future of Task Forces(part two: Atari)

(a message I left on WPVG talk page) In archive 41, we talked about sending video game series task forces into whole Publisher task forces. Example: Devil May Cry to Capcom. I would like to request that the actual creators of the task forces would meet here to discuss the issue I talk of in Archive 41.Gears Of War 01:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh come on, we can use all the good editors we can get, and you're a good one! Don't leave! Ctjf83Talk 17:42, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Do you want to group the families together at List of characters in The Simpsons like I did for Abe, or would you like me to do it? Ctjf83Talk 18:17, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean? Sorry, but I'm a little confused! --.:Alex:. 18:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
I thought on one of your edit summaries you thought it would be best to put the Simpsons extended families together, and the Bouvier extended families together on the List of characters in The Simpsons page. LOL, I said I did it for Grampa Simpson's page, but I meant I did it for Simpson family. See how I put the Simpson extended family in one section and the Bouvier extended family in another. So one of us should do that for the list of characters page. Ctjf83Talk 19:01, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
lol I wondered if you might have meant that page. Yeah, I'll take care of that. --.:Alex:. 19:04, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Simpson family

The only reason you're accusing me of ownership issues is because you have them yourself. I removed them because the page should only be for characters with lines, and there are several others that have been mentioned that are not included, including Uncle Arthur, Uncle Lou, Great Uncle Boris, etc. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a fan site where every single character that has ever been mentioned gets its own section. We have to try and keep the cruft to a minimum, otherwise every single character page would look like this. Perhaps you would be better off here. -- Scorpion0422 15:30, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Uh, you've been preventing me from adding, like, anything to the article, or indeed a lot of Simpsons articles I've edited. It's an article detailing the Simpson family. There is no reason why family members cannot be included there. --.:Alex:. 15:41, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Read WP:FICT and you will find out. -- Scorpion0422 15:45, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
And how they are they more notable than most of the other characters mentioned in that section? There's no reason why any of them can't have that small mention there. Notability on that scale mainly works for larger characters having major parts of an article or an article dedicated to them. If there's a source, brief mentions like that are acceptable. Also, the reason I'm beginning to think it's getting a bit OWN-ed is because the second I touch something and it is disputed it is completely removed. --.:Alex:. 16:06, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
While I agree Scorpion does act like he owns articles a lot, I don't know that Great Aunt Hortense and Frank need to be listed. They are only briefly mentioned and not even shown. It just seems crufty to me to add a bunch of people to the list. Ctjf83Talk 16:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't know about Frank, but Great Aunt Hortense is used as a plot element and they even attend her will reading. --.:Alex:. 16:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Actually, there is no source for them to prove notability, the one used simply cites the episode. I am merely trying to clean the page up for a potential run at GA status and I'm trying to remove all of the characters that have never had a physical appearance or line. Your desire to win this imaginary conflict with me is starting to become disruptive. If it wasn't for my attempts to clean up the page, it would look like this. If that is the version you prefer, then you do not belong here. -- Scorpion0422 17:39, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Imaginary? I'm sorry, you must be having a laugh. You have reverted so many of my edits and then suddenly completely removed the material so many times it's not funny. You are being disruptive because you are preventing me to edit several Simpsons articles. And no, the page would not look like that with those two characters added on. In fact, they aren't even the problem of the article. The prose needs a lot of work. --.:Alex:. 17:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I never said the article was perfect, I just said I was working on it, and I have not reverted any of your work on the prose. The article needs to set standards for inclusion, and the normal standards are that we limit it to characters that have actually appeared and had lines. (some TV shows have much tougher standards, Characters of Lost only mentions characters that have been in more than 2 episodes) Check any of the other character pages and (for the most part) you will not find any. If we mention them, then Boris, Bill, Lou, Arthur, Hubert, Herbert Powell's mother, Maggie Junior and every non-canon relative would have to be added. And that would go against WP:PLOT because it would be details about very minor characters, WP:FICT for the same reason and WP:N because I doubt you will ever find anything to prove their notability. -- Scorpion0422 17:57, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
BTW Scorpion, we have started a discussion here about what family members should be included in info boxes Ctjf83Talk 18:39, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Adoption

Alex,

I've been reviewing a list of possible adopters and it appears that you would be very helpful to me. I feel we have similar interests as I look to proofread/edit, and create pages while eliminating vandalism. I'm interested in video games as well. Finally, I feel that I am a proficient writer and believe that if shown the ropes of editing/creating on wikipedia that I could become part of the contributing community. If you have the time to adopt me I would much appreciate it. I'd be willing to do a lot of reading and teaching myself if you would be willing to point me in the right direction and answer questions. I've read many help pages, but as someone who just created an account today, I feel that even after reading, experience can be a much greater tool then just the information.

Thank you, Zac (talk) 16:41, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Alex,

Sure, I'll adopt you. Wikipedia can be a challenging place at times, so I'd be more than happy to guide you through some of the intricacies of this place. Is there anything in particular you would like to ask me about first? --.:Alex:. 16:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Well sir, first off I suppose you should explain how I should reply to you. As of now, I'm just editing my previous post. Other then that, if you would give any advice or knowledge that you would have wanted when you started out. Like I said, I'm very new, just signed up today, have read wikipedia for years but have only edited two articles, without a user name, only simple typos. Other then that, any FAQs or help pages that wikipedia has that you think are essential. And finally, when I first signed up there was a page that had links to topics that needed to be written on, expanded, edited, merged, etc. I can't find it, so if you know a list of things "to do" that I could get started on editing, just so I can familiarize myself with how it works, that would be amazing. Hopefully I can learn from your experience and become able to edit articles and hopefully someday write one of my own.
Thank you sir.
Zac (talk) 20:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Alex please can you adopt me I want to be taught because I am very new!! --Rush786 (talk) 06:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't know whether this is it, but this template has a lot of links to stuff that needs to be done. I'll also find some pages that you may wish to read (if you haven't already). --.:Alex:. 14:25, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, that isn't the exact one I was talking about, but it is also helpful. Thank you. If you have found the pages that you think are helpful, I'll try to get to them whenever real life's not wearing me thin. And if you had any advice or things to help me become a better editor/writer I'm all open ears. Thanks again, take care. Zac (talk) 15:50, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Mallorie

Hi Alex, regarding this edit, my GTA IV manual lists Mallorie as "Mallorie Bardas"; do you have a different version of the game or manual? Mine's the one listed in the references. Dbam Talk/Contributions 21:28, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

European English Xbox 360. I even have a photo of it saying Ramos here. That's weird though... --.:Alex:. 12:22, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

GTA non-free images

Please don't revert any more of these articles without explaining how these non-free images are allowed on Wikipedia. A "discussion" amongst a few interested editors doesn't cut it, I'm afraid. More relevant is this part of Talk:List of gangs in the Grand Theft Auto where an actual discussion resulted in the images being reduced down to a single one (actually incorrectly - it should've been zero - but the discussion is worth reading).
