Hello. This falls under the "Notability guidelines do not apply to content within articles or lists" section of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability
This is not a controversial subject requiring multiple sources. All info is directly from Toyota regarding their transmission. It is in its own page because it does not match any other Toyota Transmission Series. 12DionneJ (talk) 20:09, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

A suggestion

edit

At some point the articles about Toyota transmissions (along with others) will most likely be deleted unless they are brought up to current notability standards. You might want to check out Wikiapha which does not have strict guidelines to at least to save off the information somewhere so its not lost. You can probably copy/import directly from Wikipedia as long as you give the appropriate attribution (see Wikipedia:FAQ/Forking). Also consider Wikidata as an option. Toyota transmissions

edit

Thank you for you many additions to the existing Toyota transmission article. However, all of these additions can be deleted at any time due to lack of supporting references - see WP:FACT and WP:RS. Since you are obviously getting your information from somewhere, can you add in your sources. Beware that these have to be from reliable sources, should not be from user generated sources (eg fan sites, see WP:USERGENERATED) and preferably not from primary sources (eg Toyota). Third part sources are usually preferred.  Stepho  talk  21:37, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

How is the company that physically makes the product not a good source? This isn't a controversial topic or discussion. These are hard facts that have to come from the builder of said product. All of my info is from Toyota TIS directly. The general public does not have access to this information which is why it has been organized here after combing through hundred of Toyota documents. 12DionneJ (talk) 21:47, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I know, it sucks. But not using primary sources is mostly to avoid things like a manufacturers claiming that their car has 400 kW when it really has 250 kW or can do 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds when it really takes 8 seconds. Over zealous marketing often has a positive effect on sales so it happens far too often. So the WP rule is to try to avoid primary sources when other sources exist. For articles like these transmission articles this is real hard because books and the like usually don't list the gearboxes used. But since that is the official rule, some editors will use it to delete articles such as ours. Use the Toyota manuals, parts lists etc as reference but beware that we may have to defend later on.  Stepho  talk  23:13, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
They’re already refusing to approve the articles based on bullshit reasoning to begin with. I created articles for the C series, H series, TX series, and G series transmissions because they were missing from the listings. 12DionneJ (talk) 23:27, 22 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Not much point in moving them back to drafts, given that they've been rejected and there is nothing to suggest that the sourcing will be improved. I expect AfD is the next stop, ideally as a group. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:14, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is zero reason for deletion. They are properly sourced via the manufacturer that makes the product. Gear Ratios and the applications for these transmissions is not something you can argue that a manufacturer is "juicing" the numbers like a horsepower or MPG rating. They are inarguable facts. 12DionneJ (talk) 17:32, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
That "They are properly sourced via the manufacturer that makes the product" is irrelevant, we have no interest in what the manufacturer says, Wikipedia articles are based on independent sources, if there are no such sources then we don't have an article. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list of products. Theroadislong (talk) 17:42, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You unquestionably have a conflict of interest that you need to disclose. 331dot (talk) 18:23, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Note that due to the COI I have draftified Draft:Toyota TX-Series Transmission. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:43, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@331dot You might need to refresh yourself with the definition of COI. I have no say or stake in any of the information I provide in the articles. My employment is irrelevant to this information. If you want to get technical, I currently do not work with any regards to Toyota. I work at a state college. I won't be back in the dealership world til the beginning of May. 12DionneJ (talk) 18:47, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please do not remove COI tags from articles and disclose your COI. I understand that you aren't being employed by Toyota but rather a dealership of Toyota. Even if you aren't employed by Toyota itself but rather a dealership, you still have a conflict of interest, so please disclose by placing {{UserboxCOI|1=Wikipedia article name}}, replacing "Wikipedia article name" with whatever article you are COI editing. Thanks. User3749 (talk) 18:42, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is no conflict of interest. I have zero say or stake in any of the information I have provided. That is a false narrative with zero evidence to back it up. 12DionneJ (talk) 18:44, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Then why did you claim you were a "Toyota Master Tech" above? Like doesn't that imply you have an COI? User3749 (talk) 18:45, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@User3749 Someone at the dealership level that has independent ownership, has no input to the manufacturing processes that the International Corporation, Toyota, carries out. 12DionneJ (talk) 18:48, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even though you don't have a say in the information from a company standpoint, you do have an interest in it being added to the Wikipedia if you're working as a Toyota Master Tech. That is COI as well, WP:COI says "Any external relationship can trigger a conflict of interest." Encoded Talk to me! 18:54, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You do not need have "input to the manufacturing processes" in order to have a conflict of interest, you could be sweeping the floor there but STILL have a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 18:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Theroadislong A COI implies that I have something to gain. I don't have anything to gain by posting this information. 12DionneJ (talk) 18:59, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
A COI does not necessarily involve personal gain, that would be paid editing. 331dot (talk) 19:52, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, paid editing would involve getting paid to edit. The literal definition as cited by wikipedia "involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships." I'm not doing any of those. 12DionneJ (talk) 20:33, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The first line of WP:COI states "Conflict of interest (COI) editing involves contributing to Wikipedia about yourself, family, friends, clients, employers, or your financial and other relationships." You work with the technology you are editing about, in an establishment whose business is in part repairing vehicles manufactured by the company with parts manufactured by the same company. If you worked at an independent repair shop, there might not be an issue here, but you don't/didn't. Four editors have told you that this is a conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 20:40, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Again, the relationship is not one of influence. There is no conflict. The material I'm covering is not objective. I'm not sure what y'all are misunderstanding. I own my own repair shop and teach college automotive. I won't start working for a dealership again until May. 12DionneJ (talk) 20:45, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please explain to me how this supposed conflict of interest would influence my writings on the topic. 12DionneJ (talk) 20:46, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
COI is not just about actual COI, it's about the perception that it could impact neutral point of view. 331dot (talk) 20:56, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is NO point of view. Stating the gear ratios of transmissions and applications in which they are used has zero nuance or bias to it. Have you even looked at any of the articles? 12DionneJ (talk) 23:22, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I looked at your lists of information; articles should not merely list technical specifications. That's what numerous editors have told you, but you declined to listen. 331dot (talk) 23:51, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
This article structure has existed on Wikipedia longer than any of the individuals commenting on it have been a part of Wikipedia 12DionneJ (talk) 01:19, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
If that's true- and I'm not saying it is- consensus can change, so the mere fact that something has been present for a long time is a poor argument. What was once accepted may be no longer. Also see WP:NOTDIRECTORY, specifically number 1; "Simple listings without contextual information showing encyclopedic merit." 331dot (talk) 01:28, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The application of each transmission is the contextual information 12DionneJ (talk) 02:19, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Encoded My interest for it being added to Wikipedia is that of an automotive enthusiast. I have used several Toyota wiki pages throughout my life when I didn't have access to any additional documents. Everything from looking up the year range for a specific model, to the engines available in that vehicle, as well as transmissions. I used wikipedia pages to help me accomplish the task of awd swapping my 2006 Scion tC when I was first starting out in the automotive field. That was before I was ever an employee of a Toyota dealership. 12DionneJ (talk) 18:57, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
There is no strict disclosure requirement, just a recommendation, unless WP:PAID applies. {{COI}}, like any article tag, should ideally be about the content and not the contributor(s). Its documentation reflects this pretty unambiguously. So: If there are issues with the article, including neutrality issues, please point these out – perhaps {{POV}}, {{cn}} or a similar template can help – or fix them by removing promotional or badly sourced material. If there are severe neutrality concerns, these should be discussed at WP:AfD rather than in a move war from and to draftspace. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:25, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm asking here instead of using the article talk page because we have many editors following the discussion in 12DionneJ's talk page.
ToBeFree: What are the appropriate guidelines that the Toyota TX-Series Transmission and Toyota G Transmission need to meet in order to avoid deletion from the main space? Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 20:51, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Jeraxmoira,
Thanks for asking. As you're a new page reviewer, the following is mostly for 12DionneJ and won't surprise you – WP:42. Of course, this is an oversimplification, but it does a pretty good job at getting the main idea across. Also, to answer your question technically, "becoming a redirect" perhaps? But that should happen through AfD as there will very likely be disagreement about this.
There was an attempt to create a notability guideline for vehicles, but that's a draft/essay and nothing official. WP:NPRODUCT exists as a section of the company notability guideline, though. And where that doesn't help, WP:GNG does of course. Significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. It just has to exist; mentioning such coverage in a deletion discussion is fine. It doesn't strictly have to be present within the article to count. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:01, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi 12DionneJ! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Toyota C Transmission several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Toyota C Transmission, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Specifically, you should be discussing at Talk:Toyota C Transmission#COI tag (February 2024) rather than edit-warring, thanks. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:00, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am the creator of the page. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:02, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's not relevant, see WP:OWN. What is relevant is WP:EW and WP:3RR, I suggest you read both those pages before continuing to edit. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:04, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
A false accusation has been made with zero verifiable proof. I have removed that false accusation. They should stop repeating that incorrect information within my post. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:05, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The tag on the page is not an accusation as such but rather an indicator that the article needs maintenance attention, further there is no applicable exemption from WP:3RR that covers this. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:07, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
To add to this, you are now in violation of WP:3RR at both Toyota G Transmission and Toyota C Transmission please self-revert. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:05, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Blame the individual that is reverting after their false claims have been corrected. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:06, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are the one that violated WP:3RR, not them. I don't want to sound menacing, but if you do not self-revert an WP:ANEW will likely be filed and you will be blocked, it really is that simple. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:08, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
They are reverting back to their claim after committing Vandalism. That is not on me. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:09, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
As I said you have violated WP:3RR not anyone else, just you. Please self-revert so you can avoid being blocked. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:11, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not going to revert a false statement about me. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:11, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Adding a COI tag (a valid one, which you have been denying) isn't vandalism. Plus, being the creator of that page doesn't mean that you can assert ownership of that article. User3749 (talk) 06:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Note, this falls under vandalism. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:07, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
It does not, please read WP:VAND. While your mistake is a common one made by newcomers, our internal definition of vandalism is deliberately quite narrow. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:09, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
It applies as it is "inserting obvious nonsense into a page" 12DionneJ (talk) 19:10, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
That is not correct, see WP:NONSENSE which also has a narrow definition on Wikipedia. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:11, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Reading back thru the definition, it falls under "Reverting to Vandalism". "Reverting edits to the latest revisions that are nonsense, promotional, personal attacks, and/or harassment (except for when done by mistake)." It is a personal attack. 12DionneJ (talk) 19:19, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please review WP:NPA to see what falls and does not fall under that policy. Sadly I have now had to file an WP:ANEW. I urge you again to self-revert before you are blocked. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:22, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
And again, I'm not going to revert a false statement about me. 12DionneJ (talk) 20:26, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please see my 19:25, 26 February 2024 (UTC) message above. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:27, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:20, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

This is unnecessary, given there has already been a report at WP:AIV and the pages have already been protected. I have removed the report for now. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:27, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I didn't see the AIV report, which strikes me as over the top given existing information. I agree that the articles should be sent to AFD not move-warred over. 184.152.68.190 (talk) 19:31, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

What? I'm defending my articles in the "Articles for Deletion" discussion page like I was told to. 12DionneJ (talk) 17:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Bbb23 Why am I blocked from editing when I was specifically told to post within the "Article for deletion" page for my articles instead of within their respective "Talk" pages? 12DionneJ (talk) 17:08, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Just doing what @331dot told me to do 12DionneJ (talk) 17:10, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
