Cinema Bizarre

You tagged the article as needing wikification and for being unsourced. Neither is true; the article cites (and had cited) the Allmusic profile of the band, and is well enough wikified that I don't really see it being an issue. Chubbles (talk) 13:58, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

The really dispiriting thing about this article is how poorly it's been treated since I created it. Nearly all the edits made to it have had no substantive content (notwithstanding some contributions by ChrisHH). They've consisted of anon edit-warring over the bandmembers' names and fansite-like additions of the members' zodiacal signs. Well, and deletion attempts. Last night ChrisHH, who speaks German, finally added some more historical background to the page. Hopefully it'll be going somewhere now. Chubbles (talk) 14:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
The article noted the positions of the band's charting hits in Germany and Switzerland from minute one. Chubbles (talk) 15:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
The very first revision of the article included this discography:

Discography Fatal Attraction (2007) #9 Germany, #28 Austria

Singles Lovesongs (They Kill Me) #9 Germany, #32 Austria "Escape to the Stars" #36 Germany, #61 Austria "Forever or Never"

This information never left the page; it was not unclear or vague in any way. Chubbles (talk) 15:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Mr Senseless: would you mind taking a look at [[Image:VerginaSun4Elements12GreekGods.gif]]. There is no copyright information, and the image is slated for deletion next week. Is there any way to get rid of it sooner? It is unsourced and frankly pseudohistorical garbage. Aramgar (talk) 22:58, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

the Moleskin article has non-copyright infringing versions in its history.

Hi. Before tagging the Moleskin article as a copyvio, for immediate speedy deletion, you should have checked its history to see if there were versions that were not copyvio. No big harm done, I have reverted the article to an earlier version that is definitely not copyright violating (as it is all my own words). Please also check the articles talk page to get some idea about the history of the article before speedying the article for *any* reason. -- Cimon Avaro; on a pogostick. The assertion of notability wa present even in the version you speedied. When you doubt there is sufficient notability, please use PROD, not speedy. sorry, you';re right, I did mean context --it said it was a survey form regulation & gave the link to the source for it. that;'s contex in my book. If one can tell what the article is about, there's context. But just a friendly note. DGG (talk) 01:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Fraternity

No problem, at least it makes the review easy (: Although US college fraternities are popular topics, they are difficult (although not always impossible) to get to GA because of the lack of independent sources, which means they tend to rely on the fraternity website. That, and the fact that editors are often members of the organisation, makes them unbalanced.

Deletions

Hello Mr Senseless. Delete and merge[4] is not a valid closure as it would violate copyright. Either it is deleted, or it is merged. When it is merged please indicate where it was merged from and to (see WP:MERGE). Please also have some respect when you're dealing with real people.[5] When someone writes their autobiography it is not necessarily blatant advertising, and it is somewhat tactless to treat it as such. Please consider more civil deletion reasons. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 19:47, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Earthoid.com

Hello Mr Senseless, regarding your recent activities at the above AfD, you may not be aware that only administrators should close AfD discussions as delete. After all, non-admins can't delete articles. Please keep this in mind in the future. Cheers, faithless (speak) 19:48, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

In the future, please do NOT attempt a non-admin closure in the case of a deletion. You, not being an admin, are not capable of deleting an article and as such, should never close an AfD with a deletion result. This type of AfD must ALWAYS be closed by an admin. Relisting debates

Don't forget, when relisting AfD debates (like these two), that you remove them from their original log after placing them in the current day's AfD log. (I usually hidden comment them out, but others just delete them...that's a choice of preference.) Here's what I did. Cheers, — Scientizzle 23:39, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

So you can propose deletion unilaterally, the guy is on vacation and doesn't know about it, and 2 weeks later he comes back and it's gone. That is not an appropriate way to do things. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Explain and help with Imprev page

Can you please explain the speedy deletion of the Imprev page. I took great care to read the rules and to write it in a way as factual and in the nature of Wikipedia. There are hundreds/thousands of corporation pages existing in Wikipedia and we want to be one of them while complying with the rules. How may I create it for acceptance?

I think the message Mr Senseless left on your talk page explains it pretty clearly. Maybe you should read it. Toddst1 (talk) 00:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

actually it is just looks like a standard twinkle template. there is no consistency at all regarding corporations. i am asking for a human response since he made the conscious choice of targeting one of 5000 corporations worded exactly the same way on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesoweng (talkcontribs) 02:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Please clarify the basis for your proposal to delete this article. It is part of the Wikipedia Catholic Church project and fulfills the guidelines of numerous categories. It is a large and prominent Catholic parish in the San Fernando Valley of California with thousands of members. What is the possible ground for deletion??????Cbl62 (talk) 23:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

  • I have responded on the article for deletion page you created as follows: "This is a new article about a Catholic church in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles County, California. The church has been in existence for 80 years and has thousands of families in the parish. How can this possibly be a proper subject for deletion? It falls within the scope of two established Wikipedia projects, one on the Catholic Church and the other on schools. It also fits within at least four Wikipedia categories: Category:Roman Catholic churches in California, Category:Elementary schools in California, Category:Roman Catholic elementary schools in the United States, Category:Churches in Los Angeles, California. The fact that an editor has to spend time defending a legitimate article against unsubstantiated proposals for deletion is a significant deterrent to good editors. Certainly, the article needs work, and that will happen with time. The proposal to delete was made within minutes after its creation. This is really discouraging." I ask you to reconsider your proposal.Cbl62 (talk) 23:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
i my view, I consider this a perfectly good faith AfD nomination--I too am a little bothered by these articles unless they show actual specific ntability. DGG (talk) 00:27, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Re:Anawatazi

I apologize if this is the wrong place to talk. I am new to Wikipedia yet I have used it for years. I noticed you were on my thread or article I started entitled "Anawatazi". I was wondering of you can give more insight to why it was deleted. Anawatazi is a true pseudonym that a very very famous fighter used during his reign as the undefeated Black List champion. Can you give me more insight or show me where to go to get this article reinstated. This article took years of research and it is extremely true and accurate. Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong place for this discussion. I am still trying to figure out the navigation of this site.

Admin coaching

I think that right now, you're being a little hasty. You've only been here for five months, just slow down. I think that you would benefit from waiting another month of working on articles before seeking coaching. I have my hands a little full at the moment, but you could ask my buddy User:Revolving Bugbear if he'll take you on right now. The other admins are pretty full too. bibliomaniac15 Do I have your trust? 23:27, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

lol, nevermind. I suppose I just answered my own question. Wikifan4 (talk) 15:48, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi - thanks for your reply on the help page. I am kinda thrilled that I got a properly qualified responder.

Three things -

  • Firstly, please share you thinking as to why/how its NPOV. ("without valid charge" sounds serious to me and probably to editors who find it POV too). They'll want reasoning.
  • Secondly - is there another very brief way of conveying this information, another very brief phrase that could be used instead?
  • Thirdly - Would a conservative lawyer answer the same way? Is there another common way of viewing this situation legally that would view "without valid charge" as spin, POV, etc?

Finally , even if you dont answer any of the above, thanks for your initial answer. SmithBlue (talk) 08:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome

Project logo

Welcome to the Opera Project!

Hello, 2! We're delighted you've signed up to join us!

Opera is a very active, medium-sized project with more than 4,400 articles - it's smaller than the mega-projects like Music etc, but it is also larger than closely-focused projects such as Richard Wagner.

We have a discussion page linked to the main project page where you signed in. Participants work together on articles, see for example the Composer of the month, Singer of the month and Can you help? features on the Project page. Please take part!

The scope of the project is huge: 400 years of history, many countries and many languages. For that reason the editing style of opera articles can sometimes be complicated, so we have detailed guidelines for formatting on the project page, covering the tricky points like opera titles, capitalization, categories etc. Please don't be too bothered if you make a few mistakes at first - we all went through the same thing when we started!

Some opera editors use reference books such the New Grove Dictionary of Opera, New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the Oxford Dictionary of Opera and the Viking Opera Guide. These are helpful for checking facts and providing the essential references required on Wikipedia. It's great if you can get access to these books.

However if you don't have access to books, there are still many other ways you can contribute to the project: compiling lists of recordings, writing synopses of your favourite operas using CD librettos, translating texts from other languages, picture researching, writing biographies of contemporary singers from online sources etc etc - and see also the To do list for articles needing attention.

We hope you have a great time on the Opera Project.
Please don't hesitate to ask us if you have any questions! We are always here - here!
Best regards!
