License tagging for Image:Backbend.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Backbend.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Black urine disease

At the time I deleted it, it consisted of the {{db-empty}} tag, having been blanked by yourself. The page creator blanking a new page is a common reason for speedy deletion, as it is assumed that the user made a mistake in creating it or changed their mind. Please assume good faith in future. -- Francs2000 04:40, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Stands.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigDT 15:39, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spartan Stadium

edit

The assertion that the photograph you posted was one you created was wholly inappropriate. Furthermore, you are making two claims with the current tag: that it may be used as long as it is properly sourced (says who, and where?), and that it is a historic photo which is of such singular value as to be released from it general display (a categorization which is disputed). Which is it?

Also, the blanking of the memorable games section was accidental. I am using a new browser and I have done the same at Ohio Stadium - a result which I cannot explain. Please sing future comments with four tildes ~~~~. Thanks! Rkevins82 15:44, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Looking at the history I see no blanking of the memorable games. The image should be removed until the status of the image is resolved. Rkevins82 15:51, 13 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for taking the time to clear that up (and scan the images). Like I said, the blanking was accidental and I still cannot remedy the problem with my current (work) browser. Apologies. The historical tag is probably fine as long as they resolve the fair use issues - I think they should soon. You'll probably have to wait more than a few years, though, to state the creator died 100+ years ago, as the image was taken in 1913. I look forward to adding to the Spartan Stadium article. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kci logo top.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Kci logo top.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sticky mouse syndrome

edit

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Sticky mouse syndrome, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Unspecified source for Image:JTMadden.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:JTMadden.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:47, 25 June 2007 (UTC). Fair use rationale for Image:Bd54.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Bd54.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 15:52, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tornado Emergency

User:JJJJust has put an article you started, Tornado emergency, up for deletion.

--Ks0stm 20:41, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hiya,

Just a courtesy note. I've closed the recent AFD on this article, that you created. Unfortunately both consensus and policy seem to agee the game wasn't notable, so the article was removed.

However I did use my discretion, and feel the flag planting incidents of 2005 that it started, were notable. I've preserved the article prior to deletion in your user space, at User:AStudent/2005 Michigan State vs. Notre Dame football game, in case you want to create something like 2005 football flag planting meme or some such.

Hopefully this will preserve what was truly notable, and put it into its own context :)

Best,

You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:38, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Carbamazepine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Keto (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Adena Regional Medical Center

edit

Hello AStudent,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Adena Regional Medical Center for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:56, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Notability - Adena

edit

Unlike high schools and railway stations, hospitals are not regarded as inherently notable. (The schools and stations aren't mentioned in policy so far as I know, but common practice is to assume that they are...). For hospitals, you have to show the notability and reference with WP:RS and so far, you haven't. I'm not deleting it this time (someone else probably will), but you should take note of this if you want to save it. Peridon (talk) 15:06, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

OK. Your latest version is now at User:AStudent/Adena Regional Medical Center. Fuhghettaboutit's comment was "this was userfied yesterday which still exists. Make basic article b/f moving to mainspace; this is an unsourced one liner". Over to you - but please ask for an opinion before moving it to article space or re-creating it there. I can ask someone who is not involved and very good at assessment to give the opinion if you don't trust me to be neutral. (I am trying to help you - you can go on your own way if you want, but I don't think it'll work.) Peridon (talk) 16:57, 17 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
