Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. —GMX(ping!) 22:42, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- @PorkchopGMX: Thanks for the suggestion, ill keep it in mind next time. are there any specific situations or template messages that you suggest this should apply to? Aidan9382 (talk) 11:21, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

Tools for reverting vandalism
Thanks for helping out with cleaning up vandalism. I recommend using a tool such as Twinkle or RedWarn which can help make the process of reverting and warning easier. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me here. Happy editing! eviolite (talk) 17:10, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestions. Im going to keep it as manual for now, cause i dont want to accidentally click a wrong button and screw something up hard (im good at that), and i also like the control when doing it manually, but ill keep this in mind for the future. Source was in Ukrainian....
Thanks for your edit on People's Friendship Arch. In the explanation of your edit you stated "Translate russian citation (Someone double check that ending text appended on, since im not sure what it is)". The source was in the Ukrainian language as most media in Ukraine. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:47, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Yulia Romero: Sorry, my mistake, not that familiar with languages. I just simply take the untranslated paramaters, and if they give a clear answer in google translate, ill replace them, otherwise ill leave them as-is. I assumed it was russian cause, last time i wiped a bunch of untranslated citations, like 90% of them were. Aidan9382 (talk) 15:56, 26 April 2022 (UTC)
No problem, obviously it was a honest mistake. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 17:58, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

I totally lost it with the template parameters in the JAS 39 page when I couldn't find the help page , glad you saved my bacon there! BP OMowe (talk) 00:16, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- @BP OMowe: No problem, messy citations can be a bit of a nightmare to fix sometimes. Normally, if a citation has an error, you can find error text next to it in the References section. (Example: {{cite web}}: Cite has empty unknown parameter: |1= (help)). If you click help, it should recommend some possible fixes for your issue. Aidan9382 (talk) 05:19, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, and about that struggle with the translation parameter, im looking into cite web and
im not seeing anything for a translation of a quote. Im pretty sure the way most people do that is to just have the original quote, and then a translated version in () after it, so ill do that for now.you were probably looking for trans-quote. (You can look through all the potential parameters yourself here) Aidan9382 (talk) 05:26, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion
Hello, Aidan9382,
Do not tag another editor's User pages for CSD G7 speedy deletion. If an editor wants their User pages deleted, they need to tag them themselves, that's how admins know that they indeed want them to be deleted. Please do not do this on another editor's behalf. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 06:51, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought it was permitted to do on behalf if the editor expressed so in conversation. Ive gone ahead and asked them to tag the archives themselves. Thanks for clarifying. Aidan9382 (talk) 06:55, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

- @CT55555: Sure. What problems does this seem to have caused? As far as im concerned, my specific edit has made no changes. If its the long archive box thats your issue, that was there since before i made my edit. I have absolutely no idea where thats come from, but if thats what seems to be your issue, would you like me to investigate it? Aidan9382 (talk) 17:28, 12 May 2022 (UTC)

@CT55555: Ive gone ahead and submitted a few changes. Hopefully cluebot will pick it up soon and fix whatever ive caused (Sorry for that). Ill keep investigating incase it doesnt fix soon. Sorry! Aidan9382 (talk) 17:38, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- No problems. No urgency. I'm borderline at my skill limit to instal the bot and it seemed fine to me before you tweaked it. I appreciate you trying to fix this. CT55555 (talk) 17:47, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- @CT55555: Through a bit of manual work, ive fixed it. It turns out i came along a convenient 10 minutes after the bot caused the malformed archive like that, so my edit was actually fine and i caused myself to panic over nothing (how fun). Everything (should) be fixed now. If there are any more issues, just ask me here again, and once again, i apologise if anything else went wrong during that process!

Hi Aidan9382. I not sure if you remember me from the Module:Sports results issues. I've been trying to clear down Category:Harv and Sfn no-target errors recently. One of the issue is that certain author/template combinations need to be whitelisted. See Module talk:Footnotes#False positive no target errors for some of what I mean, and the issue I have run into. I can see the changes I need to make and I could start by copying the current module to the soapbox, but how do you go about testing a module? Is there any documentation you know of, or advice you can give? - LCU ActivelyDisinterested ∆transmissions∆ °co-ords° 20:15, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- @ActivelyDisinterested: Ah, hey again! Normally for module testing, i find it easiest to just have a page where i use the module (the sandbox version if its protected), and then use the "Show Preview of another page" feature to see if what i tried worked. Sometimes that doesnt work because it relies on page title or whatever. If thats the case, I can try help figure out a workaround or something, idk. Hope this helps. Aidan9382 (talk) 20:18, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- (Im going to quickly make the sandbox version of the modules sync to the live version and then use sub-sandbox versions for you, that should help. If you need more direct help, do just ask, as ive got some spare time right now. Ive got to dissapear, so I hope what i said above actually helps. If not, I'll be checking my talk page in the morning to finish up anything and help out. Good luck with the module editing!) Aidan9382 (talk) 20:21, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Archiving notice
Hey! During your moving of Talk:The Portsmouth Grammar School, you forgot to update the archive location. All you need to do is adjust the |archive=
parameter in the {{User:MiszaBot/Config}}
template to the new page name. Don't worry, I've fixed this for you. Just keep this in mind if you move a page in the future. Thanks! Aidan9382 (talk) 03:59, 28 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks. That is normally automatically done, and a note comes up saying if it has or has not been done. I was clearly a bit distracted because I didn't pay attention, nor did I tidy up other aspects which I would normally do (such as tidying up the talkpage, which I will do now). Thanks for being so attentive and community minded, you should do well here; though it's always as well to check the experience and knowledge of those you are giving advice to, to make sure if it's advice or just a reminder you should be sending, or if indeed it is appropriate to be sending a note about a minor edit you've just done along with advice on how to avoid making the same "mistake" (page moves automatically leave a redirect anyway). All of us make errors now and again such as a little typo, or forgetting to update a link after a move - generally it is only significant mistakes, or repeated mistakes that warrant a talkpage message. There are differing views on informing experienced users of policies and procedures, and we have some essays on that issue - the main one being: Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars. Some experienced editors find it irksome. My advice to you, moving forward, is if you come upon a minor error in future, just fix it and move on. Only contact a user if they are repeatedly making the same error. Other than that, I think you've done OK. SilkTork (talk) 08:22, 28 May 2022 (UTC)

Clerking Arbitration pages
Hello! I realise this may seem officious, given that you were right about the counts in this edit, but editing the various status templates & sections should be left to clerks (and/or Arbs) in most cases, absent things like obvious vandalism. Thanks! firefly ( t · c ) 09:00, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- Alright. Thanks for the notice. Aidan9382 (talk) 09:01, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Firefly: Infact, in that case, I remember I found an old case yesterday with quite an unlucky wikilink typo (Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Winhunter, has the text "case opened by motion" (Arbitration)) Is this something that could be cleaned up by a clerk? (The page also seems just a bit weird in general with how everything just kind of exists there and I cant seem to find the history going any further back than a few days before it closes, but who knows, maybe I'm missing something - the AC is not something I normally touch). Hello, Aidan9382,
It would really help when you tag pages for deletion if you posted a deletion tagging notification on the talk page of the page creator. It's an important step in the deletion process. The easiest way to do this is to use Twinkle for all of your article/template/draft taggins. Twinkle has a lot of great features and you can use it to post warnings or report vandals to noticeboards and it will maintain a log of all of your deletion taggings that you can look at later. Most page patrollers and a lot of administrators use it daily.
What you need to do if you use it is to go into your Twinkle Preferences and check a box that says "Notify page creator". Then, whenever you use it to tag a page, Twinkle will inform that content creator of the tagging so you don't have to write a personal note or remember a lot of different templates. It really makes the process easy and I encourage more active editors to try it out. Thanks for your contributions! Liz Read! Talk! 06:36, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notice, I'll keep it in mind. Might give Twinkle a spin at some point, see how it is. Aidan9382 (talk) 06:49, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Liz: Sorry to bother you about this, but I just had a quick look at Twinkle's CSD interface, and I found twinkle doesn't seem to provide alerting the page's creator for the CSD deletion reason that I use for self-looping pages, that being {{db-error}} (A subgroup of G6). What do you suggest I do about this? I've been considering writing a slightly modified version of {{db-test-notice}} due to how specific my deletion rationale is (stored here), so I may stick with no twinkle and that, but do you have any alternatives? Infobox file display
Hello Aidan9382. Thanks for your work on Template:Infobox file display. I may have spotted a minor bug in some transcluding templates. Over at CAT:DUPARG, the following templates are showing an error in preview: "Warning: Template:Transclude excerpts as random slideshow/testcases/Portal:Reptiles (edit) is calling Template:Infobox file display with more than one value for the "1" parameter. Only the last value provided will be used. "
- Template:Transclude excerpts as random slideshow/testcases
- Template:Transclude excerpts as random slideshow/testcases/Portal:Reptiles
- Template:Transclude list item excerpts as random slideshow/testcases/Portal:Herbs and spices
I'll hazard a guess that as only three templates are affected, it's likely to be a problem with those three templates, and not the changes made at Infobox file display. Can you offer me any tips on how to fix them? Thanks, Storchy (talk) 09:10, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Storchy: Thanks for the notice. This is likely an issue on my end, as I've recently been making a lot of changes to Module:Excerpt/portals/sandbox during a somewhat complicated bug fix / feature change, which is a module used by those templates. I wasn't aware this was happening, but that's something I'm going to need to look into. It's not an issue caused by you, but by me, so don't worry about it solving it - I'll look into that. Sorry for any issues that causes, but I should hopefully have it out of there soon enough. Aidan9382 (talk) 09:26, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Storchy: Fixed in this edit. Thanks for the notice! Aidan9382 (talk) 10:17, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- That was a fast refactor of a complex bit of code, thank you. I really should learn Lua, to be able to help with template changes on WP. It seems not that far off Python in syntax, and there's rather more time available lately. Storchy (talk) 13:20, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

Page mover granted
Hello, Aidan9382. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving a redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

- @Ahunt: Oh god, sorry. I thought I explicitly coded something to avoid this nightmarish subpage situation, but I guess it didn't go how I wanted to. Reverting that now... Aidan9382 (talk) 20:09, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- I've reverted all the moves, and I have a pretty good idea at whats gone horribly wrong here. I'll be keeping the bot offline until I have time to fix it. Thank you for shutting it down, and sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. Aidan9382 (talk) 20:22, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking care of it all. - Ahunt (talk) 21:20, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- Wow, this is incredibly unlucky. The issue seems to have stemmed from a combination of 2 slight and completely unrelated bugs - one was an oversight on my behalf that meant the failsafe designed for this exact scenario didnt work only on article talk pages, and the other was a frankly impressive and highly specific chain of events during processing that lead to the title getting cut off before it should. :/ . I'm currently fixing both of these issues, as well as some general (and probably overdue) cleanup. Aidan9382 (talk) 06:09, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Bot is back online. I'll be watching the commits closely for the next few days/weeks, but the failsafe is now working properly and the processing bug has been fixed, so hopefully I shouldn't need to intervene. Aidan9382 (talk) 07:51, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- Super. I will let you know if any problems appear on my radar! - Ahunt (talk) 13:32, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed that your bot started moving pages on November 10. Your BRFA approved July 2022 was just for fixing incorrect archive settings and said nothing about moving pages. Not cool, you should have filed another BRFA for this new task. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:55, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Wbm1058: Please see the talk page of said BRFA, where I asked about such a thing. Since the matter was closely related to the current task and not moving the pages yet correcting the archive location just leads to lost and orphaned archive pages (more detail can be found in the talk page message), I considered it an extension (or technically a fix) of the existing task, and I didn't consider it neccessary to file another BRFA, so I asked the approving BAG member on the talk page instead. If this is a problem, I'm willing to bring it to a new BRFA for a fuller discussion. Aidan9382 (talk) 17:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. I guess the problem is that I didn't see the second approval until you pointed me to it. I've fixed that. Why I'm here: my bot informed me that its edits were getting reverted. This happens occasionally and I usually check it out to see that all is good. This was discussed HERE, and a NOTE was placed on the offending editor's talk. Curious that editor Q6637p just popped in to work their mayhem after not making any edits since 2014. I attempted to undo that move, but unfortunately it's a lot easier for that drive-by editor to make a mess than it is to undo it. The edit history has over 500 revisions, meaning admins can't history-merge or delete the page in order to split the history – that's restricted to m:stewards as it's a terribly inefficient and resource-intensive process. I might still be able to fix it with piecemeal history-merges, but that would be a time-consuming process involving use of temporary work pages. Since your bot moved the archive to sync with the bad move that's difficult to undo, another editor made a copy of the archive. Nobody has pinged me about this; I just found it because, as I said, my bot's edits were reverted. Not sure if I should be troubled to do anything about it, or just leave things as they are. – wbm1058 (talk) 22:41, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Wbm1058: Wow, this is a confusing situation to wrap my head around. I've not looked at how these yearly list pages are sorted on a year change before, but the way this was done seems real messy, though I don't think it needs anything especially fancy to fix.
- Base talk pages really shouldn't be archives - they should either point to another talk page or be a talk page, otherwise it can make conversation incredibly awkward, so Talk:Deaths in 2022 needs changing one way or another. To me, what looks like the best idea is a round-robin move of Talk:Deaths in 2022 and Talk:Deaths in December 2022, and then converting the new Talk:Deaths in December 2022 into a base talk page like Talk:Deaths in March 2022 - The archive is a 1:1 copy of Talk:Deaths in December 2022/Archive 1 (which should ideally move with the round robin to Talk:Deaths in 2022/Archive 1), so nothing is lost by removing it (it shouldn't have been duplicated in the first place really). I'd try this fix myself (I have pagemover so it'd be possible), but I wanna avoid causing even more of a mess than what exists already. Do you think this is a good idea? I don't want to leave it unfixed since that just postpones the issue rather than solving it, but it really isn't simple. Aidan9382 (talk) 23:33, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, the editors who manage "death lists" content have a somewhat unconventional way of operating by copy-paste that I wasn't familiar with either. I history-merged the talk page history from before the bad move. Then I reverted Talk:Deaths in 2022 back to what it should/would have been if the move hadn't been done. Then I moved the archive back without leaving a redirect. There shouldn't be redirects from scope changes; this leaves open the possible future creation of an Archive 1 for Talk:Deaths in December 2022. Then I removed templates from Talk:Deaths in December 2022 that only got there as a result of the bad page move. And marked the only open discussion as having been moved. I'll let the regulars in this topic area decide how/when to archive that one. History-merging the talk page was easy as it doesn't have too many revisions. History-merging the article page is more difficult because of its large number of revisions. I'm going to pause a bit before deciding whether to tackle that. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:51, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

Lint-fix inquiry
You recently the mass-lint errors I left behing on WTA 1000 tournaments. I was going to fix them but you beat me to it. Thanks. Anyway, I was wondering, whether you did the mass-fix in a matter of 2 minutes by using a "find and replace all" regular expression in the advanced tabs in editor or some other means? If so, could you please share what regex did you use? Qwerty284651 (talk) 22:13, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Qwerty284651: It was indeed a regex. I just copy the text into sublime text and used some simple terms. Don't have them saved anywhere, but I'm fairly certain it was
! scope="row" \| '''(.+)]]
->! scope="row" | '''$1]]'''
(and then! scope="row" rowspan=2\| '''(.+)]]
->! scope="row" rowspan=2| '''$1]]'''
afterwards cause I didn't realise that case existed, so this could've probably been simplified into! ([^|]+)\| '''(.+)]]
->! $1| '''$2]]'''

Peace Dove
Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, peoples rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension.
Thanks! Aidan9382 (talk) 07:57, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
