Do you know how to add a red dot for for the location of Kentuky Speedway on this? I know How to add the word, but the image itself no. Nascar1996 02:25, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Indef full protection
Regarding your comment on RFPP: There have been cases where indef full protection is appropriate. The Indian Institute of Planning and Management (now a redirect) is one example. In the case of a content dispute where one side never discusses their reasoning for their changes, an indef is necessary until that side decides to come to discussion. ~Amatulić (talk) 05:03, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing it out. I did know that, and should have been more specific. I'll try to remember this next time, Airplaneman ✈ 05:05, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Anne Frank
Hi there, I saw you edited the Anne Frank page a few times, and I'd like to make an edit, but am not as experienced as you, so was wondering if you'd do it for me? I'd only mess it up :S The edit, if you will do it, should be put in the "Legacy" section, with something that Audrey Hepburn said about reading Anne's diary, and her explanation of why she couldn't play Anne in the 1959 film:
"I was exactly the same age as Anne Frank," she explained in her curiously accented, international English. "We were both 10 when war broke out and 15 when the war finished. I was given the book in Dutch, in galley form, in 1946 by a friend. I read it . . . and it destroyed me. It does this to many people when they first read it but I was not reading it as a book, as printed pages. This was my life. I didn't know what I was going to read. I've never been the same again, it affected me so deeply."
And later: "This spirit of survival is so strong in Anne Frank's words. One minute she says, 'I'm so depressed.' The next she is longing to ride a bicycle. She is certainly a symbol of the child in very difficult circumstances, which is what I devote all my time to. She transcends her death."
I think some of this should be in the "Legacy" section. Source here: http://www.ahepburn.com/article6.html , 8th paragraph onwards.
Thank you Dugg1900 (talk) 00:41, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, nice to meet you :). I'm not sure this info is relevant enough to go in Frank's legacy section; I'm hesitant to add this to what is already a long article. Maybe this would be more appropriate for the film's article or Hepburn's article? Regards, Airplaneman ✈ 01:39, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi there. I see you deleted Sedat Aloglu as speedy A7, not notable. Was he not a Turkish MP? which I would say makes him pretty notable. Sorry, I have only the vaguest recollection as this was something I saw on NPP a few days ago. Ta, Chris (talk) 07:11, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Hey. I noticed that you've had some involvement with this page and I wanted to bring it to your attention that it was recently recreated. I see that you moved it to the author's userspace a few days ago where some minor edits were made only to have it reposted looking almost identical to the once deleted version. I've tagged it as an A7 but I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens. OlYellerTalktome 05:50, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

stewart jackson MP
Dear Airplanman I am new to Wikipedia, so please bear with me. Can you please explain why every time I add text to the section 'Twitter controvesy' on the page of Stewart Jackson MP, my edits are removed. The page is now also locked, which in my opinion is unfair as it prevents users such as myself from adding balance to the article, which as it stands gives an unfair and unbalanced impression. The point is that, as it reads at the moment, the page gives the impression that Jackson lied when he said he was subjected to abusive and crude Tweets. This allegation was then made in the forum of a local newspaper by a political opponent of Jacskon, Eric Donovan, who invited people to view his blog where he had posted what he claimed was a 'full transcript' of the Tweets. I did some research and proved that Donovan was not being truthful because he had 'omitted' at least two Tweets crucial to Jackson's defence - Tweets which called him 'c**t' and 'Whiney Bitch', and which prove that Jackson was telling the truth when he said he had received abusive tweets - something Donovan was trying to disprove. I have repeatedly made the points to Eric Donovan (who I believe was responsible for the original posting of the 'Twitter Controvesy' on Wiki) and asked him to post the full tweets on his blog, but he hasn't yet done so. All I am asking for is that the Wiki page carries the full facts - that Tweets crucial to Jackson's defence were missing from Donovan's blog, that these Tweets were pointed out to Donovan and that he hasn't responded. I look forward to hearing how we can resolve this and ensure that this article is fully accurate and explains that research that I did proves that Jackson did indeed receive abusive texts. If you want to see the thread, follow the link to the story in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph and read the forum comments. The text I wish to put in is as follows:
However, a supporter of Jackson later showed that the information posted by Eric Donovan was incomplete, and that abusive messages sent to Jackson via Twitter were omitted from Donovan's transcript. A supporter of Jackson then posted ten questions on the forum of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph challenging Donovan's assertion that Jackson had been dishonest. However Donovan has yet to answer any of the questions and despite requests to do so, he has not amended his blog. [1]

- No, I haven't forgotten this. Sorry for the delay… I will get to it when I have a chunk of time to take in some context first. Thanks, Airplaneman ✈ 02:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
- The page is not locked anymore. I have decided against adding this, as doing so will create undue weight in the article. Maybe we could crop it shorter, and add just the following text:
“ | A supporter of Jackson later showed that the information posted by Eric Donovan was incomplete, and that abusive messages sent to Jackson via Twitter were omitted from Donovan's transcript.[2] | ” |

Tolstoy
Do you understand if I could to write: "Tolstoy was Great friend for Abyssinia and took active part in the public company of solidarity of Russian society with Abyssinia in 1896 in during the First Italo-Ethiopian War. He used part of money from edition of "Anna Karenina" for the help to Abyssinia. He even sent a congratulatory telegram in relation to Ethiopian victory.", so I could to read real archived sources in Russian? What do you know about Russian the Abyssinian union 1889-1913? Do you read in russian? So you can to read in english only Alexander Bulatovich "With Army of Menelik II"(but you even can not to read colonel Artamonov), but I could to read old newspaper articles and lists of participants of eleemosynary company for Abyssinia. Hi Airplaneman
In reference to:
- {{recent death}} (in particular the instruction that "this template should only be used when many editors (perhaps a hundred or more) are editing the article on the same day"
- my previous edit to the above-captioned page (in particular, its edit summary)
- this recent comment (removed without reply) to SluggoOne's talk page
In addition, it is worth noting that since the first report of the subject's death, the article has been edited (in order) 31, 8, 3, 4, 6, 1, 7, 0, 3, 0, 1, 0, 3, 4, 4, 0, 0, 2, 2, 9, 0, 1, 2, 3, 0, 0, and 2 times. Notwithstanding SluggoOne's admonition to "give it time", it is precisely the trend over time that makes it clear that the template is unlikely to become applicable.
Bongomatic 02:49, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, Bongomatic. I wasn't aware of that policy, and did not see your previous edit summary. Now I know :) Airplaneman ✈ 02:53, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- No worries. It's not a policy, nor even probably a guideline. But my view (after being educated by another editor) is that it's a bit of a sensationalist template ("stay tuned for more sordid details!") and is best avoided. I usually don't remove it if there's a significant flurry of edits until it's died down (though when someone slaps it on an article obviously unlikely to be edited a lot like Mohammed Fahim, I remove it immediately), but in this case, the edit frequency had clearly tailed off. Rgds, Bongomatic 02:59, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, blegh, not sure why I typed "policy" :). Anyway, thanks again for clearing this up. Airplaneman ✈ 03:26, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Rgds, Bongomatic 02:59, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I find the claim that the template is like a ringmaster at a freak show a little much. I accurately guessed how Rich Cronin passed before I even came here, and given that he fought cancer for a few years, it's hardly likely that any sordid details will pop up. Are we really suggesting I put that template there to encourage people to post photos from rotten.com? I take the template at face value: Given the chance of a celebrity's death becoming news long before the whole story is known (best example: Chris Benoit), don't take initial information showing up within a few hours at face value.
- The comment left on my talk by Bongomatic indicated I had violated policy or gone against a guideline when I put the template on a page that hasn't been targeted by weirdos making stuff up. Since neither is the case, and the only precedent supporting removing the template is one person's "view (after being educated by another editor)," I still believe I was right to include the template and there it is again. Hopefully it'll have an added benefit by scaring off the IP who is there now. Şłџğģő 04:17, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Actually the basis for removing the template is its own instructions. My view that it's sensationalist is not the basis for removing the template—its the view for disliking the template even when its use is indicated. Bongomatic 07:50, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- So you just remove the template on sight instead of nominating it for deletion? That's an odd way of getting things done.
- And now it's moot since Cronin's page is getting heavily edited. Şłџğģő 20:04, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- TFD might be good for this, to discuss its fate as well as to gather some ideas of how it should be improved if it is kept. Airplaneman ✈ 21:38, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

IP problem
Hi, I'm having a problem with an IP here who says that I made a mistake reverting one of their edits and have given them a wrong warning, but looking at their talk, I see nothing in the history of their talk page that says that I warned them. Looking through the articles they have edited I also see no evidence I reverted. I know I may have reverted an edit made by their User account, but the IP is unwilling to cooperate. What should I do? I'm thinking ANI, but this has never happened to me before. Derild4921☼ 00:08, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- First thing that comes to mind is that their IP is dynamic, so it changed. They probably have no idea of what their previous IP address was, so without viewing the discussions (I am just sticking my head in my talk for a bit, got to go really soon), I think the best you can do is to ask them to look through Special:Contributions/Sunshine4921 and find the edit that they reverted. Best, Airplaneman ✈ 02:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, looks like he was frustrated and therefore vandalized. I think the multiple template messages may have had something to do with it, although he was shown plenty of ways to get help on the welcome template he was given. He was blocked as WP:VOA, and rightly so. In this case, however, I do not think leaving the user a handwritten message about vandalism (you consider this a personal attack? There's much worse out there!) would have done any good. They were simply frustrated that their work did not qualify for inclusion on Wikipedia. You did not do anything wrong, but yea, multiple template messages may just be the way to set someone off. Keep up the good work! Airplaneman ✈ 02:12, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

GOCE newsletter
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors Backlog Elimination Drive!
Participation report — We have 71 participants in the September drive. 95 people signed up for the July drive, and in May we had 36. Progress report — We have been making solid progress in eliminating the 2008 articles from the backlog so far. If we continue to focus our firepower we can completely wipe out 2008 from the queue. Overall volumes are lower than expected though, with nearly a thousand articles yet to be done if we are to meet our overall target. If you have not yet participated in the drive, we recommend you do so. If each person who signed up edits one article per day from now till the end of the month we can eliminate another 1,065 articles from the backlog. All contributions are appreciated. Announcement: credit for 10k+ articles — Participants editing a 10k word article may claim credit for two 5k+ articles on the leaderboard. Those that edit a 15k word article may claim credit for three. Regardless, the article is still counted as a single article in the tallies. Reminder — Articles from the Requests page can be included in your tally, even if they do not have a copy edit tag. This is a great place to go if you are interested in finding a higher quality article to work on. This newsletter was prepared for the GOCE by Diannaa (Talk), S Masters (talk), HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK, and The Raptor Let's talk. |

A question about a deleted article
Hello Airplaneman, I am messaging you because a few weeks back you deleted a page I created because I didn't give permission to use the info. The page was Andrew Bartolini and you deleted it on August 27th. I wanted to tell you that I do have permission from the original writer to use it on the wikipedia page, and my question is how do I prevent the page from being deleted again? I am new to wikipedia and don't really know the proper places to ask questions so I apologize if this was sent to the wrong place. Thank you PJoseph8 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:31, 16 September 2010 (UTC).

Wow Airplaneman! It looks like you're article writing is just disappearing, and all you do is protect pages now. Anyways, I just felt like saying hi, since I noticed you reverting some Warriors stuff. By the way, if you have time, you can read the 7th Erin Hunter chat transcript. It'll help give you an update since you apparently don't read the books anymore... Brambleclawx 01:59, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I will certainly read it (maybe this weekend). I'm just gnoming around while completing a report for Chinese class (using Wikipedia as a resource, of course :p). I have an airplane article to review this weekend as well, so I haven't completely forgotten about writing articles :D. I still read the Wikipedia articles on Warriors, though :). BTW, I read Twilight (novel) this past weekend (to the shock and horror of many of my friends). It was, erm, interesting. That would explain my sudden interest in tweaking Twilight-related pages... - Ha! I've forgotten most of mine as well, which is why I'm taking the class ;). Back on topic… maybe I could head over to the Chinese Wikipedia and edit a bit there someday. Also, I'm thinking of taking a wikibreak. It'd be good for my health, as I'd recover about an hour of sleep every night! Airplaneman ✈ 02:46, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Sure... I think your Chinese will soon be better than mine. Mine is pretty low level, and I forgot most of it. Still labouring through my copy of Chinese Midnight... And ouch. My anti-Twilight side has been stung. I will keep an eye out for your activites then. And btw, your talk is filling up my watchlist. Brambleclawx 02:30, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Thought I'd mention that The Lost Hero appears to need a bit of fixing up, in case it has escaped your attention. Brambleclawx 16:46, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Archive 2 and 3
I moved all the the things from archive 2 and 3 to archive 1, I need the blank pages deleted. Thanks, --Inka888 02:02, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I assume you're referring to User talk:Inka 888/Archive 3 and User talk:Inka 888/Archive 2? Why not just keep them so you can use them later? If you still want them deleted, I will do so. Airplaneman ✈ 02:07, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't sure if one was supposed to keep for future use, I will keep them in that case. Thanks again, --Inka888 02:22, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
Hello!
So I just wanted to come by your talk page and ask you an important question. Alright, I was wondering, do you think I could get an email at Wikipedia (example@en.wikipedia.org) for contacting IPs? I'm not sure you would be able to, but I just would like to know where to go to for that. Thanks! (And please do send me a talkback when you reply.) Endofskull (talk) 22:44, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Endofskull :). I don't think you can get an email that is hosted by Wikipedia. What I did was create a dedicated Wikipedia email address (I use gmail, with the username "wikiairplaneman"), just for Wikipedia (I now also give it out to other websites that I have a username at, such as YouTube). BTW, I'm lost at how this has to do with contacting IPs… could you elaborate? Posting at WP:VPT may help as well. Regards, Airplaneman ✈ 22:54, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for replying! But, what I mean is I tracked an company's email, that has an IP on Wikipedia, so I want to contact them. I just don't want to use my personal email for that. Understand? Thanks. :) Endofskull (talk) 23:12, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Of course. I don't use my personal email either. I suggest creating a secondary email account (without your name and stuff). Not sure if you can do that on Wikipedia, however. Airplaneman ✈ 23:15, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)Perhaps it may be mentioned on WP:COI/N if appropriate. Brambleclawx 23:18, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'll do that, most likely. But still, I want to see if it's possible. Here's my section. Endofskull (talk) 23:21, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Bramble, are you saying I should take it there? Thanks for coming here. Endofskull (talk) 23:22, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Er... Lemme see... I didn't realise you put it on VPT already. Brambleclawx 23:26, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I would only take it to COI/N if it was super severe. At the moment, I'm inclined to just say that you should probably make a seperate email account and use that. Brambleclawx 23:28, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll see what other people say. Thanks for the help! Endofskull (talk) 23:35, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Glad I could contribute something :). Looks like you have it sorted out on VPT (with info from people more tech-knowledgable than me :D). When signing up, try an address such as "Endofskull.Wikpedia" or something so that the IP knows you're a Wikipedian. Please feel free to drop by here whenever you feel like it. Best, Airplaneman ✈ 01:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

I take great offense
I take great offense to that. It was not a joke it was the truth that kid is destroying are societly culture and making every one dumb. That much worst then anything hilter could of ever done —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.53.241.102 (talk) 04:36, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Got proof? These are highly contentious claims. He's a teenage singer who happens to appeal to massess of girls, hence his popularity. Adding this to the article would not adhere to our neutral point of view policy and it may be viewed as a violation of our policy regarding articles on living people. So no, do not re-add this, or risk a block. Airplaneman ✈ 04:42, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. There's already a section detailing the hate he's receiving. Airplaneman ✈ 04:44, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
