Hi, need your help
I saved my password on my brother's laptop accidentally, he's now threatening to change my password. Should that arise I ask that you ask for my Committed Identity String which only I know, while my Committed Identity itself is publically viewable he does not know the string that produces the hash. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 08:41, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- If he does manage to hijack my account or my account behaves strangely, please do not hesitate to hardblock my account. —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 08:44, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- He has also threatened to create spam accounts on the IP I am currently using. I will notify you when this situation ceases and there is no longer a threat. Regards, —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 08:48, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- FD, change your password. It doesn't matter if your brother has your old password, if the password has changed ;-) Do it now!!! TFOWR 08:52, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Alright, I've done that now. Thanks for reminding me TFOWR :) —Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм • Champagne? • 08:53, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
About WP:TYPO
What are you supposed to do on WP:TYPO because it doesn't show you what articles you need to fix? Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:26, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- You're right; there's no list. Just fix them if you come across any. WP:TYPO does offer ways to search for an fix typos, though, starting with Wikipedia:TYPO#Methods_for_searching_and_correcting_typos. Airplaneman ✈ 19:45, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

NASCAR related
Hey Airplaneman, I would like to get you opinion if 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series should be moved to 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, or should we start with 2011? Nascar1996 01:23, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if you think the word "season" should be added, then yes, for consistency, all articles should be moved. I am indifferent; adding "season" is more descriptive, but the title "XXXX NASCAR Sprint Cup Series" gets the job done as well. How about asking around at WT:NASCAR? Airplaneman ✈ 05:38, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I was only wanting one other opinion. Nascar1996 14:29, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Also, could you help me find images that are alllowed from other webites, or teach me how I can tell if I can and cannot use them? Nascar1996 01:45, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Most of the time, I would think the images or other media would be copyrighted. Policy pages explain this stuff better and in more detail that I can, so I'll give you some links: WP:FILE, WP:C, and specifically Wikipedia:C#Guidelines_for_images_and_other_media_files. Those are good starter pages, which will lead you to other pages on Wikipedia, images, and copyright. Files aren't my strength, so I may be missing something. Off the top of my head, I know User:Magog the Ogre is a file expert, so try asking him as well if I don't cover everything or I am not making sense to you :). Mentoring
I accepted (requested) a request for mentorship of User:Inka 888. He (or atleast comes across me as a Male) is in trouble for disruptive edits. Any suggestions for advice to give once his one week wikibreak is done? Thanks--intelati(Call) 04:51, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Pretty much just to listen to what others have told him in the past, to not take them as being scolded, and to use the suggestions as points to improve on. Of course it's embarrassing when anyone makes a mistake; I can attest to that myself. Even as an admin, I've blundered more than once already. That's pretty much it. Inka, if you're reading this, one of the best things about you is your enthusiasm for the project. We need more of that! Airplaneman ✈ 05:15, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Your on the top of my list for help. :) --intelati(Call) 05:19, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Regarding Page Deletion
I am trying to understand why the Theta Alpha Omega page I wrote was deleted. I stated on its talk page that I was the owner of the content that I had "infringed" (thetaalphaomega.com) and that I was pursuing donating said content for public use. I also added the proper hangon tag to the main page. Then, while I was trying to figure out exactly how to notify Wikipedia that I was indeed the registered owner of the content, the page gets deleted. What is the purpose of using a hangon tag if the speedy deletion still happens speedily?
Edit: I gave up on figuring out how to prove I owned the site via email, since the domain has no mail server, and posted the statement of release on the page. Orsonscottcard (talk) 00:22, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the page can't really exist until you acquire permission for it to. In short, Wikipedia can't risk being sued for hosting copyrighted material, regardless of whether the poster claims that they want to release it. It is a free encyclopedia after all, so non-free material isn't welcome. Once you obtain permission to release your material, feel free to repost. Using a hangon tag does not guarantee temporary immunity to deletion; it just lets the reviewing admin know that the page's creator objects to the page's deletion. Please don't get the impression that I like deleting others' hard work, because I don't. :) Honest. I hope this helps clarify things. Regards, Airplaneman ✈ 00:35, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- P.S. If you'd like to repost using your own writing and the page as a source, please make sure it passess WP:N without question; otherwise, you'll risk getting the page deleted again. Airplaneman ✈ 00:35, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- If you go look at http://www.thetaalphaomega.com/aboutus.htm, the page I "infringed", you will see that I have added the necessary permissions at the bottom of that page. I would appreciate it if the page could be restored so I do not have to recode the info box, etc. Orsonscottcard (talk) 00:41, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- It might just be my browser, but I'm not seeing it. Airplaneman ✈ 00:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's in black all-caps text directly above the mailing address, following the last line of yellow body text. I'm viewing it in Firefox and I can see it with no problem. It's also clearly visible in the page source, directly below the "footer" tag. Orsonscottcard (talk) 00:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- A thread has been started on this at WP:EAR#Proper way to handle problematic deletion. I can confirm I can now see the page has a free licence attached, so G12 no longer applies and the article can be undeleted. Did you clear your browser cache when you reloaded the page? SpinningSpark 01:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's actually at WP:HD#Proper way to handle problematic deletion. I pointed out the page has a coding error which causes some browsers to not display the license. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:48, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- The coding error has been fixed, so the footer should display properly now. Orsonscottcard (talk) 01:50, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Script dash thing
Hi, I just saw this edit that you made to List of Brownlow Medal winners (thanks for the semi-protection by the way) and I had a look at that script thing that you used, but I have no idea how to work stuff like that, so I was wondering if you could run that script over the List of Melbourne Football Club players article, if it's not too much trouble. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 06:38, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Done! User:GregU/dashes.js is really easy to use. Just put
importScript("User:GregU/dashes.js");
in User:Jenks24/vector.js (if you're using the new format). For example, here's mine. After purging your cache, it should work under the drop-down menu next to the watchlist star when you're editing a page. Airplaneman ✈ 22:33, 20 September 2010 (UTC)- Thank you! Thanks for doing that and you won't be bothered by me again, cos, thanks to your instructions, I can now run the script myself :). Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 04:49, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Force Bill
Airplaneman,
I really don't think it is accurate that the Force Bill was used by any U.S. President in modern history. I searched for it online for a bit, and I could not find any references to it (I am a lawyer, I have some skills wrt such searches).
It seems that the Force Bill wikipedia page is in error. The discussion page has been abandoned since March 2010.
Can we agree to delete the incorrection section?
66.133.220.110 (talk) 03:53, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Of course. I'll remove it now. It just looked suspicious because you did not explain why you were removing it (you can do so using an edit summary). Sorry if the generic warning I posted (saves time, etc., etc., especially when dealing with loads of bad faith additions when recent change patrolling) seemed a bit harsh. Hope you stick around :). Adopt-a-user reminder
Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:
- If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
- If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
- You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

Hello again, as of right now how does this article look for GAN then FA? I am considering nominating it for GA, but since your a good reviewer will you please skim over it. Thanks, --Nascar1996 22:58, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's a solid article. Two things popped out at me: there's no short summary of the race in the lead. Also, the references to news articles need an author and publication date - use
{{cite news}}
(remember I mentioned that at my last GA review with you?) If you nominate for GA, I will most likely just stand by, watch, and help make fixes. I'm busy (tired now, but of course, I had to log in :D) and am having trouble reviewing GAs in a timely manner (currently reviewing Talk:Avro Vulcan/GA1). Airplaneman ✈ 23:15, 23 September 2010 (UTC)- Note - before going to FA if you are, make sure to cleanup the "On lap..." and "By lap..." as this would fail 1a. of the FA criteria (choppy prose). - I knew you was busy, I just wanted your opinion. Also when you replied, I added the race resummary in the lead. I'll fix the refs next. Also, since Formula One races are a million times shorter than NASCAR races, most of their passing and stuff are on the same lap, unlike NASCAR when the drivers tend to get spread out, which makes the description more spread out. --Nascar1996 23:23, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- That gives you the extra challenge of making sure the prose sounds good ;) Airplaneman ✈ 23:26, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- I most definately can't. Any other ways it doesn't make sense to me. Someone else would have to, if it will become a FA. Nascar1996 23:36, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
Was a bit surprised to see this pop-up on my delete log, as I removed the CSD tag yesterday as it did make a claim to significance, I agree that it might not meet the WP:GNG and if memory serves was tagged as such - thinking that it may be better off goint through AfD ? Codf1977 (talk) 06:50, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Codf1977 - it was retagged by 24.147.75.86 (talk · contribs) at 00:01, 24 September 2010 (UTC) with the summary "Added db-club tag. Re: Codf1997 -- Not recognized as AMNRL member on AMNRL webpage or wiki page." Upon reflection, the article did claim notability as part of a league. Rest assured, I did do some quick research on this, but I'll be happy to restore it and keep it (no afd or anything) provided that maybe another reference or two be added. Also, the "Players" section will need to be removed or fixed, because it's a direct copy from [1], the only ref. Maybe I could userfy it to User:Codf1977/New England Immortals? Airplaneman ✈ 01:36, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I have no feeling on the article one way or another, I fell that the re-tagging by the IP was out of processes (for example, repeated re-taging and no notification of article creator). I am also not sure that a list of names like that can be the subject of copyright. Can I suggest a compromise here if it is ok with you - I/we/you ask the WP copyright guru User:Moonriddengirl for comment on the copyvio status, if she feels it is a copyvio then leave it as it is now deleted, if she is happy it is not a copyvio then restore it and I will nom it for AfD ? Codf1977 (talk) 02:38, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi. :) List articles are a pain. :/ They are copyrightable to the extent that there is creativity in the information or the presentation. The information seems entirely uncreative, but I'm not so sure about the presentation. Presentation is deemed uncreative if it is the bog standard way to present such information and the same way that most people would do it given the same set of facts. I'd agree that the information in each listing (taking #1 for example: "1 (Boston 13s) Lance Gaines: Full-Back ") is probably bog standard, but putting the team first and in parentheses seems a bit unusual to me (given my vast inexperience with sports). I would say that this one falls into the "if in doubt..." standard of WP:C ("If in doubt, write the content yourself, thereby creating a new copyrighted work which can be included in Wikipedia without trouble.") and if I had encountered it on my own, undeleted, I would have reworked it for safety's sake. I probably would have turned it into a table or something and put team affiliation last. I'll leave it to you guys to determine if it's worth restoring. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:25, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- Given that, happy to rework the team name to after the players name (which I agree is more normal) and then nom it for Afd. Codf1977 (talk) 12:40, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2010 Carfax 400, a recent good article
The 2010 Carfax 400 was a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race that was held on August 15, 2010 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Contested over 200 laps, it was the twenty-third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series season. The race was won by Kevin Harvick for the Richard Childress Racing team. Denny Hamlin finished second, and Carl Edwards, who started twenty-fourth, clinched third. Pole position driver Kasey Kahne maintained his lead into the first corner to begin the race, but Jimmie Johnson, who started in the second position on the grid, took the lead before the first lap was over. Afterward, Greg Biffle became the leader, and would eventually lead to the race high of 66 laps. Tony Stewart led after the final pit stops, ahead of Hamlin and Harvick. Harvick helped Hamlin to become the leader, but with twelve laps left, Harvick gained on Hamlin and claimed the first position with eleven lap remaining. Harvick maintained his position to claim his first Sprint Cup victory at Michigan International Speedway. There were five cautions and nineteen lead changes among nine different drivers throughout the course of the race, Harvick's third win of the season. The result maintained the first position in the Drivers' Championship and clinched him a position in the Chase. He remained 293 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon and 353 ahead of Denny Hamlin. Chevrolet maintained its lead in the Manufacturers' Championship, thirty points ahead of Toyota and sixty-one ahead of Ford, with thirteen races remaining in the season. A total of 105,000 people attended the race, while 4.917 million watched it on television. appropriate sources
Hello Airplaneman,
How've you been? You were so kind in welcoming me to wikipedia, I thought I'd ask you about this. I've been dipping into wikipedia now and again. Mostly I look for articles I can add value to through research or editing or fact-checking. I happened to see a section of Cher's page with no inline citations. I added a whole bunch, but I found it quite challenging to find verifiable sources. Mostly, the basis for the facts was circular: the sites cut and pasted from the wiki or had completely unsourced material that repeated the same "facts."
I'd really appreciate any suggestions you'd have about this. One of the great things about wikipedia it seems to me is that it's so inclusive. It's a shame when appropriate verifiable sources cannot be found for sections of writing for all appearances are written by someone who knows their subject well and cares about it.
Any thoughts?
Hope all is well.

- Hello! I've been busy but happy, still with enough time to edit daily. How about you? I know it can get quite frustrating looking for reliable refs for articles on subjects without widespread coverage but enough notability for inclusion. Here are some good links I found that may be of help:
- WP:REF
- WP:REFB
- WP:SHARED
- Template:Find sources (use the links provided)
- Oh, and don't forget to sign your posts on discussion pages (use ~~~~) . Best, Airplaneman ✈ 21:19, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Could you please undelete this article? We have received OTRS permission for it which I can add as soon as it is restored. VernoWhitney (talk) 13:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

question
I tried to install Lupin and it won't do anything, Is there something I'm missing here? --Inka888 02:29, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Did you purge your cache? According to WP:LUPIN#Usage, "There should now be five new items in your toolbox (just under the Search bar)". Also, make sure your browser is compatible (see Wikipedia:LUPIN#Compatibility). Airplaneman ✈ 03:31, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Couple questions,
- 1 how do I purge the catche?
- 2 does it work on firefox?
