edit Thanks for contributing to the article History of Nigeria. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. - Thanks for the enlightement Ajia4ty (talk) 19:08, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- I seem to have failed to enlighten you. You have added the exact same very clearly identified mirror (dbpedia) again here. Additionally, you used another here. I'm also seeing instances where you're adding other sources that appear to have nothing to do with the material being sourced. Please slow down and carefully evaluate your sources. It may be a very good idea to stop sourcing until you have more experience with WP:RS. Kuru (talk) 12:01, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- As you've again added the same false source here and ignored warnings to carefully review your sources, I've disabled this account for a week. Please acknowledge the problem and outline the steps you will be taking to evaluate material in the future. Kuru (talk) 11:14, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Additionally, this source was clearly labeled as copied from Wikipedia, and this one is a clearly identified Wikipedia fork. I've removed other links to random blogs. Kuru (talk) 11:16, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- i never knew it was from Wikipedia, I am so sorry for that Ajia4ty (talk) 11:19, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sure you did. You responded directly to the warning on this source above, and then were warned again. This site very, very clearly identifies itself as extracted from Wikipedia - it's very difficult to miss if you're reading the page. Kuru (talk) 12:00, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

- I really don't care about your edit-a-thon. I don't care about apologies or begging. I've asked you to "Please acknowledge the problem and outline the steps you will be taking to evaluate material in the future." You will need to read the policies and guidelines I supplied above, identify and explain the probem, and form a coherent response. Thanks. Kuru (talk) 22:29, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

- Ajia4ty, I took a look at your recent edits and they are many instances of unreliable sources (online study guides, dbpedia, etc.). You're clearly not doing a careful study of the sources you're adding. Often the source has only a marginal connection with the content (e.g., what does this have to do as a supporting citation for "each family has their own room"). It is not clear to me why you're so interested in adding citations for all sorts of topics, but the damage you leave behind is extensive and very hard to fix. Kuru has been kind to you, many admins would have just tossed in a WP:NOTHERE indef block. One good use you can make of this one week is to review all your citations and list the ones that are not reliable and/or not suitable. That might help avoid an indef block down the road. --RegentsPark (comment) 18:42, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

Hi. I took a look at your contributions and you're adding a number of sources that appear to not satisfy our reliable sources criteria. It seems to me that you're looking for citation needed tags, googling, and then adding whatever shows up. While it is good that you want to find sources, that's not the way Wikipedia works. Please read the reliable sources article before you continue. Thanks.--RegentsPark (comment) 15:02, 12 July 2022 (UTC) i will take to correction.thanks

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Disambiguation link notification for February 7
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Iru (food), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Disc. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

- Again here. Please consider this a final warning; it may be best to avoid adding sources for a while until you have more experience with evaluating materials - this seems to be the same mistake over and over again. Sam Kuru (talk) 12:01, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Olofa of Offa
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Olofa of Offa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://oduna.org/oba-mufutau-oloyede-gbadamosi/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Onorem (talk) 18:49, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Ajia4ty! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:34, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
Reading a source is not optional
editI've had to revert these changes you made. One source (used twice) is a copy of Wikipedia. It would have been obvious if you read the source. Another source was generally about cultivars and did not specifically about corn and did not support the statement. And finally, the fourth source was about branding and not about corn. It was utterly unrelated. It's quite clear you are just slapping up a source based on some words matching and not actually reading the source material. That is not appropriate. You've been warned about this before, and promised to stop, yet you've done it again. Consider this a final warning. -- Whpq (talk) 19:51, 31 March 2023 (UTC)

editHello, I'm Greenman. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Offa, Nigeria, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Greenman (talk) 14:04, 15 April 2023 (UTC)
Graceland polytechnic, Offa moved to draftspace
editThanks for your contributions to Graceland polytechnic, Offa. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it has no sources. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 02:27, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi Ajia4ty. I have reverted your recent contribution to the FUTA article. Apart from not having any sources, it violates the principle that Wikipedia is not a directory of all possible information on a topic. Such material as that will be available from the FUTA website and does not need to be repeated here. Please also read the comment I left at User_talk:Royalesignature#Peacock_wording_at_Federal_University_of_Technology_Akure. The article needs lots of work to ensure it complies with Wikipedia's policy in relation to WP:NPOV, avoiding WP:PEACOCK wording (see these linked policies/guidelines). editYour edit to Akure has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. — Diannaa (talk) 16:27, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
