G11

Hi Alex - just a friendly question to an admin with more experience than me... do you definitely think that this qualifies for G11? I was in the process of leaving the author a long note (and I should have removed the speedy tag before doing so) but I didn't think it would qualify as G11. It clearly fails GNG and all relevant guidelines, but it didn't seem at all spammy (unless factoring in the authors name). I think in the end it would have been deleted (and I certainly don't want a deletion review) but guess I'm just wondering if you thought this was a borderline AFD/PROD case or if you would delete articles like this every time as a G11, or if the article/username combo put it over the top...  7  23:19, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

OK. Maybe borderline. Certainly NN. The CSD was posted as G11. In retrospect I should have changed to A7. The name of the OP and the adding of a full address fooled me into it. -- Alexf(talk) 23:45, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks.  7  23:57, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Greetings: I made several corrections to the page for "Magnolia Audio Video" and it was deleted because of claims that the page was 'advertising'. Being that Wikipedia has no clear definition of advertising on a page, I do not understand how anything could have been considered advertising. I made changes to the title of their Chief Operating Officer (previously listed as "President") as well as corrections to their appropriate store location counts. I also added a subsection for the "Magnolia Design Center", which I assumed was okay because the page previously listed both Magnolia Audio Video and Magnolia Home Theater as branches for this company. These changes are all factual, so please let me know where you are seeing an issue. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SterlingArcher (talkcontribs) 20:55, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

claim

You claim that I vandalized Samuel Eto'o's article! I did no such thing.. I've never even seen that article! Please, get your facts right before harassing people with those chest-pumping messages on the vices of vandalism! You got my IP wrong or something.. In any case, it is super annoying to be accused of something that I never did! I demand an apology and more care in looking into these things! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.98.112.184 (talk) 11:29, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Please calm down. Nobody said you did, as that is not your account but a shared IP address. If you had read the message and looked at the IP address contribution history you would have noticed the warning was posted in January 2009 for vandlism on that day. If you do not want to be bothered by what other users do in your same line, you should consider opening an account. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 12:10, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Request to reinstate deleted page

Hello,

We would like to request that the page about Citizens Committee for New York City - User:Jemilah#Citizens_Committee_for_New_York_City - be reinstated.

The organization was established by Osborn Elliott and Senator Jacob Javits. Former Congressman Peter H. Kostmayer is its CEO.

I think that the page about the organization was strictly factual and a starting point for all future contributors.

Apologies for the errors during the signing up process.

I hope you will reconsider your decision.

Thank you! Neighborhoods (talk) 16:11, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

The "article" was deleted as being shameless promotional, and apparently written by somebody at the organization itself in order to advertise it. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:17, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
As Orange Mike said, it was speedy deleted as G11, promotional. I understand you may be representing a worthwile organization but unfortunately that is not reason enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. -- Alexf(talk) 17:41, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Please Undelete Proving Longevity by Cosmic Acceleration Theory

Please change your desision. I can prove this theory thru Physics. Mark Williams, Electrical Engineer, Texas A&M University 2002

I started this thread to suggest that some Longevity myths may actually be facts. I really would like to keep credit for my theory instead of a thanks for the tip. This theory also involves Einstein’s Time Dilation by Relativity Theory, Applied Physics and Cosmic Activity. So, Time dilation is responsible for Biblical Longevity as an explanation after Noah’s flood because the earth is still rotating 365 days a year normally given that ancient records were recorded correctly. To clarify, this theory says that a living being can age slower or faster in its solar system since effects from within the galaxy or universe do not affect the earth’s typical orbit. Meaning the earth is still normally rotating 365 days a year however the speed of the galaxy traveling in the universe has changed do to gravitational effect from other bodies such as black holes were Time Dilation has occurred. Furthermore, the measured time of the clock will speed up during deceleration as the earth approaches the speed at creation which should be zero meters per second and in contrast the measured time of the clock will slow down as it approaches the speed of light since it is accelerating. So basically, you could start ageing faster or slower and you wouldn't know by examining your relative time at that instant but over a period of time a difference would be noticed since your time is based on the rotation around the Sun. Sorry but Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought. Maybe wou would like to try Alternative outlets. -- Alexf(talk) 20:18, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

How would alternative outlets fix a valid theory? Why would you think that I may like your suggestion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Krunchlol (talkcontribs) 20:21, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

It is not what I would consider a valid theory or not, but a matter of policy. Please read the link provided, especially #1, that explains the issue clearly. Unless you can provide verifiable reliable sources, for example peer-reviewed scientific journals, it is not acceptable as an article for the encyclopedia. Deletion of page

We recently posted a history of our company, it was not advertising it was history. There is history of MANY other companies within Wikipedia so I do not know why our page was deleted. I ask that the page be restored so that those in the community that are interested in, and would like to add to our history over time and do so. Thank you.

216.237.18.42 (talk) 20:33, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

If you had read the request at the top of the edit page, and had provided a redlink to it, I would know what you are talking about. Have you read the deletion explanation?. As a general comment, and without knowing the specifics, I would suspect the article was removed for cause. Did you provide verifiable reliable sources? Just because is not a valid reason to argue in deletion cases. On top of that you are admiting to a conflict of interest which is not looked favorably in the encyclopedia. -- Alexf(talk) 20:46, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Please let me know what I can change to keep the "XRoads Networks" page. I was simply giving history about my company. How we came up with our name and when we began business. I tried to delete the last paragragh as I can see that being advertisement.

Thanks for your help (Ashley noel4209 (talk) 21:20, 3 November 2010 (UTC))

Ashley

Now I know what article you are talking about. You have to understand that with thousands of deletions a week, it is not easy without your help. As per the article, it was deleted as you already know, as advertisement. The article reads like a company marketing blurb which it was (looking at the company's website). It was deleted several times today and it was part of a previous deletion discussion. Please understand that Wikipedia is not a means of promotion. Also, there is a problem with suspected sockpuppetry as you, User:216.237.18.42, and User:Strotter 81 are all re-creating the same article today with the same text. Not a coincidence I would think and a serious problem here. Lastly the text is a copyright violation or the company's website which is expressly prohibited in their copyright on the same page. If the company is notable , somebody else will add an article. If you want to do it, you have to familiarize yourself with the Business FAQ first. -- Alexf(talk) 22:27, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I noticed you had to delete the talk page (again) and I took a moment to look at the file page. There is some vandalism remaining there that was missed before the file was protected. It is just underneath the Commons template and has a couple of names and link to a "room for rent." Since only admins can edit it and you've just been there, I came to you. Thanks! --| Uncle Milty | talk | 00:14, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra - Page Deleted

Hello. I would like you to restore the page 'Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra'. The artist is question does comply under the terms of Wikipedia's definition of 'notoriety'. There has been considerable attention to the artist from UK press and other reliable sources. Only last week the band were the main feature on a 2 hour show broadcast by Craig Charles on BBC6 Music. See http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vlmh6 - The band is also signed to a respected independent label (First Word Records).

There was nothing incorrect in my article. There were no attacks, vandalism, advertisements or copyright violations. This article was encyclopedic. Many Thanks Wikimuso (talk) 12:46, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

There's no sourcing for that in the article. It was not deleted because of copyvio or vandalism. Please read and understand WP:BAND before you continue. Maybe you would like it userfied to work on? -- Alexf(talk) 12:51, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alex. I am unsure as to what sourcing I can ascertain for this without posting web links. I have read WP:BAND and the artist in question does fit a number of the criteria set out. I have researched many similar artists of similar notability and I can see no evidence why my article is any different in terms of sourcing, notability of artist and overall content. I spent a lot of time writing my article and I don't have a back up. Please can you send me the content you deleted so that I can continue to work on it before publishing with the correct criteria as you advise me. This is my first article however I have been thorough to ensure that I have done it within the guidelines that Wikipedia dictates. Many thanks Wikimuso (talk) 13:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

(link collection removed) Should I use these as reference/source material? Will this be ok for you to re-site the article? Wikimuso (talk) 13:14, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Some are ok. Social network links are to be avoided. Please put links in articles not Talk pages. I have userfied the article for you at User:Wikimuso/Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 13:27, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks for your help! Does this pass your approval? User:Wikimuso/Ariya_Astrobeat_Arkestra - Can you tell me how best to reload it to the main site? Many thanks. I am looking forward to the world of Wikipedia! Wikimuso (talk) 13:40, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

I've cleaned it up some. It does not have to pass my approval, but it has to comply with the rules. Any editor can fix it, change it, refactor it, or nominate it for deletion. Once you think it is ready, you can move it to mainspace and request the temporary page be deleted by placing a {{db-u1}} on the page. Before you do, you should read a little about our core principles and about adding inline citations and the use of the {{reflist}} template. -- Alexf(talk) 13:52, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for this Alex. I think I need a wikipedia PHD! There is a huge amount of reading to be done I can see. I have read the relevant pages but will go into it in more depth before I re-upload. Many thanks Wikimuso (talk) 14:02, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again Alex. I have corrected the article and it is ready to upload. I have dropped the code on the original deleted page, but it is not yet cleared. On the userfied article I can't find any options to 'move' as described in your link. Could you possibly direct me here. Perhaps my brain has a daily wikipedia capacity which i have now exceeded!! :) Wikimuso (talk) 14:22, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Cleaned up and moved to mainspace. Looks better. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 14:31, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Many many thanks Alex! I've learnt a lot today!! Wikimuso (talk) 14:36, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alex, I will be ever so grateful if you can help me with this problem. The same user 'Amsaim' has repeatedly objected to my article and it's link on 'afrobeat'. I don't really understand what more I can do. The article is now referenced and complies with every thing that has been brought to my attention as yet. Many thanks again, Wikimuso (talk) 21:06, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

As I told you before, editors can refactor or nominate for deletion. In this case an AfD. It is up to you to defend your case, by adhering to the rules. Don't get too attached to an article. Remember, you do not own it. Please read the notability requirements for bands. I am not into music, far from my expertise and the type of articles I write, so I can't comment any more than I did. If you can show it meets the notability requirements, then you should have no problems. If it doesn't meet, then it might be time to wait on this band to get to the point where it does. That's the way Wikipedia works. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 22:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alex, thank you for your help last week. I am currently disputing the AfD. If you get the chance could you possible guide me as to whether I am approaching this correctly. It is frustrating when you know an article is deserving and yet you don't have enough knowledge of the workings of wikipedia to do it justice. There is a lot to take in on here for a first-timer! Have I made my case in the AfD ? Many thanks again. Wikimuso (talk) 16:55, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

I looked at it. I don't think you can add much more to what you have. Watch out for the duplicate entry. That's a no-no as it looked like sockpuppetry which is really bad in AfD cases. At least you explained the problem and how it happened. Be careful. Good luck. In case it fails, save the text for the future when/if you can gather enough sources for another post. -- Alexf(talk) 17:52, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Many thanks again Alex, you've been so helpful. Are you able to vote on this AfD ? Wikimuso (talk) 11:29, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

I generally do not vote on subjects I know little about and on articles where I have had some involvement (like deletion). I pass. Also be aware of asking people to vote. It's not well regarded. -- Alexf(talk) 11:36, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

RE: "Eyeless (band)" page Hello, I noticed the discography was missing some information, so I helped and contributed some information. After adding the track listing to their page, to my surprise, I saw a notice that claims you deleted their whole band page. Is this not "Wikipedia Vandalism?" Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobVanWinkle (talkcontribs) 02:40, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

No. It was an administrative action known as Speedy Deletion back in 30 September 2010 due to reason "A7: Article about a band, singer, musician, or musical ensemble, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject", which means the article did not have reliable sources to assert notability. The article was subsequently recreated on 8 October and deleted again three more times on 8 and 9 November 2010 (not by me). Why do you ask about an old deletion of a different version of the article I do not know. Next time please provide a redlink as requested at the top of the edit page and please sign your posts in Talk pages using four tildes. -- Alexf(talk) 08:00, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Socialbugg

Hello Alexf, I hope you had a wonderful Veteran's Day!

I am here because the article I wrote and submitted has been deleted. I have searched the deleted page as you requested, but can not find the listing, so I have included a "copy & paste" so you can see it. I don't know if the link will show up red or not, I am hoping it does.

Socialbugg is a new site, and there isn't alot of publicity on it yet, I will keep searching for more verifiable & notable information. Do I need to create a new draft like I did when I started the page or can it be restored and an "in progress" or similar tag be added so it won't be deleted again?

A page with this title has previously been deleted.

If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below.

Hi. To get a link is very simple, just enclose it in square brackets like this: [[Socialbugg]]. Your comment "Socialbugg is a new site, and there isn't alot of publicity on it yet" explains the reason. Please read the requirements under WP:WEB. It is important to assert notability with proper sources. If it is a new site, then it might become notable in time, but maybe just not yet. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 10:30, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Douglass Cullum Montan

I really don't understand why the article on Douglass Cullum Montan was deleted in hours before construction could be completed. Douglass Cullum Montan was an important character in nineteenth century Louisiana. It takes time to build a webpage. I had to leave my computer for a while and so I stopped with an introductory paragraph and an indication that the article is a stub, because I was planning on coming back later to complete it.

Wikipedia says, "Most articles start as stubs, but after many contributions, they can become featured articles." See

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:About

Wikipedia invites people to create articles but you are working against Wikipedia policy by deleting a stub article that is under construction. Sugarcube73 (talk) 22:49, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

The article did not have any sources to assert notability. Just because it is a one-sentence stub it does not mean the subject is notable enough for an encyclopedia. If you have sources and citations, then by all means go ahead with an article. You can always create the article off-line or in a subpage but in mainspace there are strict rules on what can be entered. It does says that many articles start as stubs as you quote but it also says they have to be notable. -- Alexf(talk) 23:14, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User:Hollybethtyler

Hello Alexf, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Hollybethtyler, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Will move this to a subpage - new user is clearly unaware of Wikipedia policies. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:02, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

About Page Restoration

Hi Alexf,

My Maxx12 User page was deleted and the reason seemed to be because you believed it was for advertising purposes. I assure you the page was meant to be educational, informing people about the band and sharing knowledge of who they are. You have a similar page for Ronnie Montrose at Ronnie Montrose that was not deleted. My page was written in a similar way, but it would help if you sent a message asking about concerns you may have before deleting a page to see if they might be clarified.

I would like my page to be restored and am willing to discuss any concerns you might have had with it. The deletion would have had to occur between Friday and today (Monday, Nov. 15), if that helps.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Holly

Maxx12 (talk) 15:22, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Holly. I re-checked the article and it was indeed purely promotional in tone, therefore not acceptable for an encyclopedia. Even if that were not the case, it had a total lack of sources to assert notability, another very important milestone for inclusion. I know, you said it was modeled after someone else which was not deleted. First of all, "just because" is not a valid argument in deletion discussions. That article has some sources and published discography. If you think it does not meet the requirements under WP:BAND you can always nominate it for deletion, but that's another issue entirely. In your case, unfortunately your article was #1 in the list of bad article ideas. I know you may not agree, and please do not take this as a personal affront, but just the way Wikipedia works. It's nothing personal as I do not know you or your band, but a recently created and unpublished band does not merit inclusion. The burden is on you to make the case for it. Lastly you admittedly have a serious conflict of interest in this article. Maybe the band will be notable in the future and maybe then someone else will come along to write an article about it, just not at this time. -- Alexf(talk) 18:46, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alex,

I understand that the band MAXX12 is not currently published on Wikipedia, but they are published on many other sites and have a huge fan base so I do believe they are noteworthy. Someone has to be the first to publish, so what better source than someone who is directly involved, gaining firsthand knowledge? I understand the issue with the conflict of interest, but anyone is allowed to edit the page and make corrections (including people who don't have a conflict in interest) and it is just as easy for someone to have someone else, without a conflict of interest, post what they would have themselves. Can I request that Wikipedia editor do some research and he/she write an article or create a page on the band? If my page cannot be restored, is there any way I can at least access what I posted so that when I create a page (off of Wikipedia), I won't have to try to figure out what I wrote?

Thank you for your consideration.

Maxx12 (talk) 23:19, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Holly. Having a huge fan base is meaningless here unless it can be shown with sources. Being noteworthy is not the same as being notable in Wikipedia. You say "what better source than someone who is directly involved?". Seems you do not understand Wikipedia. That is exactly the opposite. Please re-read about Conflicts of Interest, having a Neutral Point of View and the very important No Original Research rule. These are basic tenets of Wikipedia. To request an article being written, please visit: Wikipedia:Requested articles and follow the directions there. I have userfied the article for you at User:Maxx12/Maxx12. Please pick it up soon. The page is purely promotional as you have already been told and will only stay for 24 hours. A note has been put in your Talk page to this effect. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 10:53, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Request to Undelete Susan_Sexton_(Photographer)

Hi,

You recently deleted Susan_Sexton_(Photographer). I'm pretty sure I followed the guidelines for creating the page and after the page was marked for quick deletion, I added clarification in the Discussion, as required by wikipedia guidelines.

Please note that you deleted a page talking about a professional photographer who was a pioneer in her field and set the stage for hundreds, or thousands, to follow in her footsteps. The page was created in short to set the record straight about the style of photography that she made famous. I'm posting a note about this deletion on a Facebook page dedicated to her memory so the 1,000+ fans know what is going on.

I urge you to reconsider your choice to delete the page. I'll happily provide more information about her and her life but it is not the kind of thing a busy adult can do in a single sitting.

Sincerely,

tedmasterwebify —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tedmasterwebify (talkcontribs) 14:16, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

I am not doubting her skills and following but none of that is relevant here. Asserting notability is. There were no reliable sources in the article. It has to comply with the notability guidelines for people, specifically for creative professionals. None of this was done. If you have verifiable independent sources, I could userfy the article for you to work on, but they must comply with the links requirements mentioned here. -- Alexf(talk) 14:29, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alex,

Thanks for offering to userfy the article, but I'm confident I can provide you with a long-ish list of reliable secondary sources that are independent of Susan testifying to her role in the dressage photography world. In fact, many of the links are on her home page on susansexton.com. Once I have the full list compiled, where should I post this information? Here?

TIA

tedmasterwebify —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tedmasterwebify (talkcontribs) 00:38, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

No, not here. Once you have them let me know one. I'll look and will probably restore, then you can add some more, but be ready to act on it. No guarantees any other editor will not challenge you. That's the way Wikipedia works. -- Alexf(talk) 01:45, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok, here's one, but I suggest you go to her home page where you'll see a list of links to other people's (and companies') sites talking about her passing. If it keeps getting deleted, I'll deal with that then. I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect people to post only completely finished works on a wiki, but I understand that you don't make policy!

Thanks again.

Supernova Cult

Hello, you deleted the sourced article about the company Supernova Cult for A7. This company has notoriety in Luxembourg for pioneering the gothic scene, alternative fashion industry and also for being one of the first successful e-business of this country (and still is among the leading companies in that domain to this day). According to the definition under A7, "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines." Should the article have failed to explicitly express the above mentioned reasons for notoriety, please undelete and allow me to correct the article accordingly. If you think the article is not relevant on international level and thus for English language, please be aware that in Luxembourg there are so many different languages that are being spoken, that in fact the only common language is English, so writing the article in English makes sense. Should you still think the article deserves deletion, a quick "in-depth" summary of why (or suggestions of improvement) would be helpful to improve my future contributions. Thanks and best regards. Skehrkrow (talk) 15:23, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

addendum: according to the notability guidelines "The common theme in the notability guidelines is that there must be verifiable objective evidence that the subject has received significant attention to support a claim of notability." Does repeated coverage by leading magazines of the specific business sector constitute verifiable and objective attention? If yes, please see references that were included to articles published in Zillo and Sonic Seducer magazine, leading magazines of the fashion scene Supernova Cult is one of the leading businesses of. Also, there was coverage by Wort, Woxx and Revue, national magazines and newspapers, also verifiable. Finally, official government reports (Mémorial). All of these sources should have been mentioned in the article, or at least referenced. Skehrkrow (talk) 15:34, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I re-read the article. I would appreciate in the future if you provided a redlink as requested to make it easier to find. This was done two months ago, that is over 2,000 deletions ago. I did not see "significant attention to support a claim of notability". The references where to three places marked as "official sites". Hardly objective and independent. All the article is is an advertisement, and if the original editor had not tagged it for notability, it would have been tagged as promotional. There are no independent ghits to speak of, all company related plus one from a PR firm. Sorry but not enough. If you can show "leading magazines of the fashion scene" as you put it, it might be enough to userfy it, but as-is, it is not ready for mainspace. -- Alexf(talk) 11:17, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your input and time, it's much appreciated. I am not sure what a redlink is but I will look that up and make sure to do it right next time. To get back to the article, the references I was mentioning are articles about this company published by Zillo Magazine and Sonic Seducer, both the leading magazines for goth fashion in Europe (I'd adventure to say worldwide, but I can't assert that claim). As this is the core business of this company, I would say that de facto article coverage detailing the activity of this company and the change and uniqueness it has brought to the scene it is pertaining to, should be considered noteworthy and objective, as it were not ads but journalistic coverage. Same goes for Wort (the leading daily newspaper for Luxembourg) and Revue (weekly magazine read by nearly 50% of the country), who felt Supernova Cult was noteworthy enough to cover it. I don't know if four independent relevant magazines and newspaper qualify as objective journalistic coverage, but I'd think so. These soures were in the article and used to reference various statements in the article. The links you are mentioning were external links to websites operated by this company, and not used as source or reference. I know Wikipedia is being abused to create links to website in hope of tricking Google into ranking them better, but considering there is a no index, no follow tag on all links, anyone with basic SEO knowledge knows this is futile, so the reason the links were included was definitely not promotional in nature, but for sake of exhaustive information supply. As for advertising tone or promotional nature of the article, unless it has been recently vandalized or changed, I took great care to avoid superlatives like best, greatest and similar and tried to portray factually what the business activity is about. Maybe in an effort to keep the tone academic and un-promotional I failed to clearly illustrate the impact this company has had on not only an entire youth movement on national level and beyond it's countries borders, I think being one of the major players in e-business of its country (with international customers like Universal Studios, Cirque du Soleil,...) is probably the most noteworthy feat. I don't know what userfy is, I will look it up, and if you want to give this article a chance to be improved and overworked to meet Wikipedia standard, I will do so. 78.141.138.245 (talk) 13:05, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

FlurgennOS

Hi there,

I created a page, FlurgennOS, but it was deleted. I was wondering if you could tell me why it has been deleted, so that I can improve it and make it suitable for Wikipedia.

Thank You for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jacob.flurgenn (talkcontribs) 15:22, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

The reason was fully explained in the note left in your talk page by the nominating editor. The article was deleted under section A7 of the speedy deletion criteria. In short, every article has to assert notability through verifiable, sources. In this case, you wrote an article about your service, (a major conflict of interest), without posting any sources. it is also a new service launched yesterday, acording to the article. This makes notability assertion difficult, unless we could see the future of this service. Lastly, if not tagged for notabiliity, it would have been tagged for speedy deletion as promotional. Maybe it will become notable in the future. In that case, soembody else will surely write an encyclopedia entry for it. -- Alexf(talk) 16:11, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Hurr ibn Yazid

Hello, I noticed that you recently deleted the article Hurr ibn Yazid. I'm hoping this is an honest mistake. Hurr is a central figure in Shia Islam. All you have to do is search for Hurr (or Horr) + Karbala in Google Books and Google Scholar and you will see the significance of the article and necessity to develop it further. 77.42.138.52 (talk) 16:50, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Sure. Can you provide sources? The article told a story but had no citations or footnotes, or anything of the kind. If you can (don't post them here), then we can reconsider. -- Alexf(talk) 17:46, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Page deletion

Hi Alex. You deleted the "Anthony wellington" page I started today. This was my first entry for Wikipedia, and I do understand why you took it down, I dont agree why. Maybe I can edit it and rewrite it so it can meet approval.

1. Anthony Wellington is a notable figure in the bass community, he has been featured in bass Player magazine, has been featured in the Victor Wooten band, (a wikipedia figure) and co-hosted "Victor Wooten: Groove Workshop" which on Amazion is a high selling and high reviewed Dvd.

i urge you to reconsider this deletion, and I thank you for your time and dedication to Wikipedia. Thanjks Matthew Henry 11/19/2010 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattfnk (talkcontribs) 17:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Not as it was. It does not need to meet with my approval, just needs to abide by the policies, specifically the requirement for notability. -- Alexf(talk) 17:46, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Article on Chinkholal Thangsing

A brief Bio of Dr Chinkholal Thangsing who was awarded the Royal Order of Sahametrei by the Royal Cambodian Government was deleted. A suggestion on how to restore the page would be appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Touchofhope (talkcontribs) 04:40, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

The page did not comply with Wikipedia's general notability guidelines. A person has to be notable. All it had was a one sentence bio, and a link to a press release. Press releases do no constitute reliable sources, not significant coverage. All of this was explained to you in the notices (more than one) you received in your talk page. Please read the linked pages here and in your talk page to understand the reasons and what to do. -- Alexf(talk) 06:52, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Temp page copyvio rewrites

Hi, Alex. :) You deleted Talk:Maali Alasousi/Temp today under WP:CSD#G8. I just wanted to remind you that temporary page rewrites of copyright problems are not " dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page"--it is dependant on Maali Alasousi, which will probably be gone by the time you see this but which was then very much alive. :) There is a note at the top of such pages that says, along with directions to the users, "Admins: Please don't delete this page unless you are sure it is no longer needed." Please keep an eye out for that when you see a page in the Talk/Temp space, as these are quite common.

In this case,no harm was done because the rewrite was not usable anyway, but I just wanted to ask you to keep an eye out for that in the future. Since the link on the template shows a different color when a temporary page has been created, I don't always click on it, so might have missed that there had been a rewrite here. I've been doing it a long time today, though, and was anxious to wrap up, so I was in autopilot mode. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:14, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh, wait, I see: he created it at Maali Alasousi/Temp, and you deleted it as a G12. You probably never even looked at the talk temp page, which was another rewrite, but just did the usual follow through, as we all do. Never mind, then. I'm sure you'd have noticed the header if you had. :) Off to finish! Hoping to do it before tomorrow becomes today! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:16, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Good points. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 19:55, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

Re Narrector

Hi,

I noticed you deleted the entry for Narrector as an obvious hoax. I I would just like to point out that this is a legitimate word which is the amalgamation of someone of is Narrating and Directing at the same time, for example, a film or a play. I heard this word yesterday in perfect context for the first time.

Please can you reconsider.

Kind regards,

Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association

Hi!

I'm working on an article for the Kentucky Mountain Holiness Association. It was deleted once before because the only content of the article was the title.

I'm putting more references and other such.

This organization represents over a dozen churches in eastern Kentucky, and maintains a radio station and Kentucky Mountain Bible College.

Please undelete it. It's a stub. I'm still working on it.Jsharpminor (talk) 16:48, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

You should work on it offline and get it to a point where it would pass muster under the pertinent rules (notability, sources, etc.) having seen it removed twice and having received notices about it should give you pointers on what the requirements are. On top of that, you say you are writing and article for the association, not about. That seems to imply a conflict of interest. -- Alexf(talk) 18:24, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Okay. Please don't construe me as trying to go over the head of an admin here; I was, however, in the middle of working on an article and fixing links scattered throughout Wikipedia (check the what links here for that article). Since I had the record in my browser cache, I restored it without an undelete so that I could resume my work without waiting hours for a response. Regarding its being twice deleted: this should be unsurprising; the first time, the entire content of the article was the name; such an article left untouched for months would be deleted no matter how notable the subject. The second deletion was you deleting an article I was working on. True, I should have given it a bit of work offline. Regarding the potential COI: No, I am not building the article for as in on behalf of the KMHA, I am building the article on behalf of an article that does not exist (in the sense of “writing an article for that subject”). I am in Delaware, not Kentucky, and not a member of this organization.
All of that by-the-by, I'm just writing to let you know that I do not intend to be going over the heads of administrators. Feel free to review the article again. Please tell me if you still believe that it meets the criteria for Speedy deletion; I would believe that it does not, and would like to be informed of such before it is deleted again, if possible, so that it might be improved further rather than tossed out again.
I'm assuming that, because I created an article in the main namespace that had very little content, it met Speedy deletion criteria when you deleted it a few hours ago, and that that was just a misunderstanding that I should have been working on it elsewhere, and now that the article has substantive information and sources, it is a stub at worst.
Please correct me if I am wrong in any of those assumptions.
Thanks so much, Jsharpminor (talk) 22:30, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

The piece was advertising. Wikipedia is not a place for promotions. It was also an improper use of your userpage. The article was major conflict of interest. Having created a new account does not free you from this issue. If you insist in writing about your company, please read about maintaining a neutral point of view, and the Business FAQ which is sure to answer many of your questions. You should also read The Five Pillars of Wikipedia to understand what the encyclopedia is about. -- Alexf(talk) 19:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

please restore 3t europe

Can you explain to me why the page was deleted. I was tying to write and maintain a neutral point of view about 3t. The article was not finished and I was about to refer to previous university research and collaboration with universities. I did write an explanation, included in my talk pages, but you still deleted it without any feedback about my explanation. I am struggling to understand why UPS, DHL, Accentue, CPCS Transcom, Capgemini, BMT, Deloitte and other companies can have a page but 3t can't. In terms of intellectual and technological advancement 3t are far and away ahead of these companies, an we have independent university research articles that prove that. What is it about these companies that make them acceptable and how do I go about publishing something similar for 3t? If you send me the text from the original page, I'll rewrite it with some references and submit it to you for verification, if thats ok? Timfawkes (talk) 09:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

I saw it was clearly explained in your talk page, not once but twice as the nominating editors did leave you detailed notes, explaining what the issue was and how to go about it. The article did not meet the requirements for asserting notability. Had no sources nor citations. You mention several other companies' and question why they have articles. Besides the important point that every article has to live by its own means, just as an exercise, take a look at one of the ones you mention, say UPS. I am not comparing companies here, but articles. You will notice that article has lots of references and citations. Yours had none. I am not saying your company is not real or worthy, I am saying you have not shown how is it notable under Wikipedia's guidelines. In order to have an encyclopedia that anyone can write, we have to have some rules, don't you agree? A per maintaining a neutral point of view, as you mentioned, which is a basic tenet of Wikipedia, that was not why the editors tagged it. But your comments here "In terms of intellectual and technological advancement 3t are far and away ahead of these companies" is definitely not neutral, nor is your perceived conflict of interest. I know that Wikipedia's rules may be daunting at first. Maybe reading the Business FAQ might help you understand why conflicts of interest are not welcome. If you can write an article about it, with enough verifiable references, it might fly. Please be aware that anything you write is liable to be questioned, corrected, modified, and refactored by countless editors. That is the nature of this place. Have a good day. -- Alexf(talk) 10:41, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback Alex. The comments in "quotations" above were not in the article and were never indended to be. Would it be possible to email my original text so that I can edit it and add references that would make the article note worthy, I know I should have saved it and I will do in future. Thankyou Timfawkes (talk) 11:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Mastic ice cream - why this deleted ?

Dondurma (turkish mastic ice cream) IS NOT Booza (arabic mastic ice cream). פארוק (talk) 08:01, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Booza has been restored (was redirected). If that is the name it goes under, then it makes sense to build on that article. We can't have two articles on the same thing. -- Alexf(talk) 20:39, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
you are wrong. Booza have a softer texture than Dondurma. Dondurma is much harder texture. that what is trying to tell you becouse the arabic ice cream is a stolen recipe that improved to a new recipe for the hot sun of arabian deserts. becouse this ice cream is not melting so fast in the sun. the syrian ice cream is the arabic version of this ice cream. פארוק (talk) 07:41, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Stella von Musulin

Re: Deleted article on the above subject.

Stella von Musulin was one of the most distinguished writers on Austrian history and deserves an entry on Wikipedia. Her book on Vienna in the Age of Metternich is considered a seminal work on the period as is her book 'Austria people and Landscape'. She was also a major anti-Fascist who worked tirelessly for the oppressed in Nazi occupied Austria. I would therefore ask that my article on her be un-deleted. I will update it with further published references to her asap. Many thanks. 86.40.19.108 (talk) 20:32, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I have no problem with that, except that the article didn't say any of that (no sources to assert notability. Do you have any verifiable sources? If I restore the article as-is, it will be tagged for deletion very soon on the same grounds. -- Alexf(talk) 20:36, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
MUSULIN, Stella (Baroness Stella von Musulin)born 1915 was a writer and historian who spent most of her life in Austria. Her books include Austria; People and Landscape and Vienna in the Age of Metternich. She was a close friend of the poet W.H. Auden who lived near the von Musulin family estate Schloss Fridau. Auden took up Austrian residence in 1957 and the two became friends soon after. Auden wrote the Foreword to her seminal book on Austria published by Faber & Faber ‘Austria People and Landscape. She contributed to a wide range of international publications on politics and culture. She spent her later years living in the courtyard wing of Fridau Castle in Lower Austria where she entertained a wide range of writers and intellectuals who sought out her company for her extraordinary intelligence and ready charm which never failed her despite her suffering from Parkinson’s disease in her later years. Stella Musulin was a key part of a core of Viennese intellectual life in the years during which she lived in the Austrian capital. She was also a regular broadcaster on Austrian Radio. She had a wry sense of humour. She once said she could recognise a spy by “looking at the back of his neck!” Vienna had no shortage of spies in the years during which she was resident there.

Some biographical details:

STELLA MARY BELLAIRS VON SIEGE, BARONESS MUSULIN VON GOMIRJE was the daughter of RHODRI LLOYD-PHILIPPS and Margaret Colville.

She was born on 16th July 1915 at Dale Castle Pembrokshire. During WW2 she worked in the Foreign Office and in British Intelligence. She married, 23 June 1946, at Mariazell, Austria: JOHANN EMIL ALEXANDER HELFRIED MARIA VON SIEGE, BARON MUSULIN VON GOMIRJE who was born in 1916, son .of Alexander Emil Maria, Baron Musulin Von Gomirje, Austrian Minister to Berne, and his wife Gerda Maria Louise, d. of Rudolph Friedreich Ernst, Baron Isbary. Please, this is not the place to write the article or post the references. If you had an account I could userfy it for you. If I restore the article as-is, it will be nominated for deletion again very fast, so be prepared to add the information. If you want, the best way is to write it off-line, then when you think it is ready and complies with notability requirements, post it online. Please do not use ALL CAPS in names in the article as you did here. That will be changed to proper case very fast, so why do it? It goes against the Manual of Style, which must be followed. -- Alexf(talk) 19:33, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

2010-11 La Liga

Hi Alex, I need you, since this protected page by you expired last week, anonymous persons don't registred and others registred don't stop vandalize the sections about goalscorers. There is discussion about how many goals have Cristiano: Marca (Pichichi organizer) says 15 and LFP (official La Liga organizing body) says 14. The day before expired protection I made a Solomonic solution: make 2 lists, one about official called "Top goalscorers" (old Pichichi Trophy section) and a new list called Pichichi Trophy about goalscorers according to Marca. There are people who unknown differences between two lists which don't stop changing Cristiano goals in one or both lists putting 15 or 14 goals (if this person hates or loves Cristiano), but I'm sure that there are a lot of people who know differences and change to vandalize. Please you must protect both lists, I hate these silly discussion about Cristiano goals but the are a lot of war edits about this discussion. Thank you. Raúl from Reus-- Raul-Reus (talk) 20:13, 30 November 2010 (UTC+1)

Hola Raul. I saw the two lists earlier today. The place to request page protection is at RFPP, where any admin will take a look and make a determination. Right now I'm at work and don't have the time to look at the edit history in detail to see if it warrants page protection (something we try not to do unless necessary), or just warn the edit warriors (or block them if needed). I'll take a look later tonight when at home with more time. -- Alexf(talk) 19:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Alex. I hope they understand the reasons and they protect it. I hope your support. Thanks -- Raul-Reus (talk) 23:19, 30 November 2010 (UTC+1)

Request to Reinstate Page Overtone Inc

Hello. I request the page 'Overtone Inc' be restored. ‎ The reason(A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content) was given, however I posit that it has demonstrated notoriety through inclusion and discussion in articles for top CRM industry publications as well as its inclusion by renowned technology research firm Gartner in its annual short list of organizations with expertise in natural language processing and text analytics services for the social media . After all, wikipedia is inherently based free form social media text, and Overtone Inc has proven through these articles and research firm publications that it is noted in the social media analytics space. Furthermore, similar entries can be found on wikipedia, such as 'Attensity'.

For these reasons, Overtone Inc should be included.

Thank you Aabstewart (talk) 19:26, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

None of this was shown (with verifiable, sources) in the article. Also, existence of similar entries has no bearing on the case. -- Alexf(talk) 18:20, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Please rethink decision to delete page

Hi, I am writing because I believe the removal of the page for: ArcheAge was in error.

If evidence of this product's importance or relevance is required, it can be provided. For example, here is one such credible source summarizing the industry expectations and business deals behind this upcoming release: Korea Game Watch

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Lazdude (talk) 18:15, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Didn't your edit summary say it is not yet released? Shouldn't it wait until after release to see if it becomes encyclopedic? -- Alexf(talk) 18:18, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

That is partially true, the game has already several closed betas, which means a small portion of the public have had access to it. Also, other direct competitors in the market such as Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2 (which have their own pages) have more exposure despite being in the same current state.

Lazdude (talk) 18:27, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

OK. Restored the page. Please add enough supporting evidence. No guarantees any other user will not tag it for speedy deletion as-is. -- Alexf(talk) 18:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Blocking ClueBot NG

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

Not the best thing you've done, certainly. At least you realised quickly. Can you remove the block notice from the talkpage please. Crispy1989 (talk · contribs), SnoFox (talk · contribs) and 930913 (Congratulate/Complaints) 15:18, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Certainly. What happened was I was looking at the vandal's contributions, then saw that last one was reverted by Cluebot. Press on Cluebot's edit instead of the vandal's and didn't realize until I saw the vandal was still showing unblocked in the UAA report. Fixed the issue and blocked the proper vandal. Duly whacked. -- Alexf(talk) 15:46, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

Friendly Question

Hey, I saw on your userpage that you fly FSX. Do you use VATSIM, IVAO, free flight or another multiplay org? Cheers. Tofutwitch11-Chat -How'd I do? 20:27, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

Nope, neither. My limited multiplayer is on ad-hoc places, or we organize on ORBx to meet at somebody's IP or in Gamespy. I only fly low-n-slow, not jets or tubeliners, and not default either, but I guess you are familiar with ORBx's stuff, in which case you can find me on their board daily (plus the two major forums too), which are much better places to discuss the subject. (the account name is the same: alexf) :-) -- Alexf(talk) 20:42, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Ya, I have some of ORBx's scenery -- and don't fly many default planes earthier. You should VATSIM etc a whirl, maybe you'd like it. Is there a specific reason you don't use VATSIm etc? Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 21:13, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
No. haven't looked at them in a long time. I always thought VATSIM was more for the ATC and tubeliner types. Will look at them tonight again. Who knows? -- Alexf(talk) 21:17, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
There are other ones like iFlyOnline and Boston Virtual ATC (which I wrote an article on, but it got deleted for various reasons). I think IFlyOnline caters more to the long haul type as well, but I don't know. See if Boston Virtual or IFly do it for you, neither require addon programs or accessorize, or at least I don't think. IDESinc Page Deleted

Hi Alexf,

On Dec 8 we created an account to update our company page on Wikipedia and learned that the page was deleted due to links to our site and that we did not assert the importance or significance of its subject.

[[1]]'http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=IDES_Inc.&action=edit&redlink=1

Thank you for bringing this to our attention - would it be possible to have the page republished so that we can correct the mis-information for the benefit of Wikipedia users to reference educational and technical information about plastic materials? We believe we can contribute positively, editing and managing our wikipedia page is new to us and years ago an employee created the page and our intent with edits from Dec 8 were to update information and remove links to our website that weren't as important.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

I checked your guidelines, and understand them. However, though many of the talented and notable musicians I worked with are now sadly dead, you can verify the information through Scott English with whom I wrote many songs, one of which was covered by Kansas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_English

The main reason I wrote the article is so that people I've worked with, or who have followed my work in the past, have another way to find me, and because I'm grateful to the many talented musicians I've worked with. The full list would be too long for an article, but includes Taj Mahal among others...he, at least, is still alive. 216.228.181.188 (talk) 01:14, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Mick Lee

Do you have a redlink as requested? A link to another site is not cool. On top of that it's empty. In any case I don't know what you are asking, and what the article was deleted for. If your stated reason for this is for people "who have followed my work in the past, have another way to find me", then you seem to be mistaking an encyclopedia with a social network. -- Alexf(talk) 02:15, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Deleted article

Dear Alexf, you have deleted the article Loyang Offshore Supply Base. This article was not new and existed for quiet a while. I think you should have opened a discussion first before deleting this article - always nicer then just deleting without proper checks. This supply base is not only about one company. This supply base is on of the most important Oil & Gas supply bases in Asia. Yes it is run by one company but there are many companies located at the base. I beliefe this article is justified as it was not written as an advertisement. At the end no problem if you would have rewritten parts of it or asked others for help. Would be nice if you can reinstate the article and we can work on it to have it less then an advertisement. --Shorty23sin (talk) 06:58, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

You reads it wrong. The deletion was for ‎CSD A7: No explanation of the subject's significance. This means it did not have sources to assert notability, not as an advertisement. What makes it notable? You say it's important in Asia. How so? Can you provide any sources? -- Alexf(talk) 10:06, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
The base is not an article about an organization only but about the base itself. This supply base is the main Oil & Gas supply base for operations in Indonesia, Thailand and Philippines. The base even serves Bangladesh for some of the big O&G companies. --Shorty23sin (talk) 01:28, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Ok, as before, are there any verifiable, reliable sources to support this assertion? I'll be happy to restore but in its current state it will be tagged for lack of notability assertion again, so we need to fix it. -- Alexf(talk) 13:28, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
I agree the article might need a rewrite and need additional verifications. I did a google search and came up with a few interesting lins: Weblink for the base operator who leased the land from the Singapore government: http://www.topsloyang.com/base.htm ; Weblink from Singapore Government for information and redevelopment of the base: http://www.sedb.com/edb/sg/en_uk/index/news/articles/toll_offshore_petroleum.html ; Weblink for location on map of the base: http://sg.pagenation.com/sin/Loyang%20Offshore%20Supply%20Base_103.9715_1.3812.map ;Newslink on the web of the bases facelift: http://www.offshore-mag.com/index/article-display/278968/articles/offshore/field-development/asia/loyang-offshore-supply-base-to-undergo-facelift.html ; A list of companies inside the base: http://search.insing.com/l/offshore-supply-base?page=8 ; Weblink to news on the companies website who got the contract for the redevelopment: http://www.macdow.com.au/news/toll-offshore-supply-base-project-award --Shorty23sin (talk) 03:39, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Re "Global issues" article deletion

Hello, I am contacting you re "Global Issues" article that you deleted. The link is http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Global_issues&action=edit&redlink=1 The article contained (1) definition (2) list of the global issues (3) examples of attempts to resolve global issues (4) aaditional sources. The absense of such article, that is actually one of the most important ones (just think about it - Wikipedia has a lot about many things, but does not have the outline of global agenda of mankind), it is very strange. The article has to be improved, but not deleted, i think it is wrong. What else do you think, besides the content that was already there, it shal contain to make you return it?

The Felix Culpa page deleted

Hello!
I'm taking the time to write you this message because some fans have emailed us over the last few days and brought it to our attention that the Wiki page for The Felix Culpa, our band, has been deleted. With a little investigating (if it can be called that. haha), I saw your name attached to the deletion and followed it to your informational page about Wiki deletions; that's how I got here =]

Incorporated into the deletion information, the following was cited: A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content).

I'm not exactly sure what you/Wiki are looking for, but based on the summary of what it takes to be undeleted, I'm providing the following links as some form of assurance that we're a) not some random band from the garage down the street, b) that there was no copyright infringement and that c) that we're not using Wiki to try and establish a press presence (based on the fact that the below does that for us).

- Alternative Press Magazine review
- AbsolutePunk.net review
- Decoy Music review
- Independent Clauses review
- we're signed to an indie label from California, No Sleep Records
- our stuff is for sale on iTunes
- we've been featured in Paste magazine
- we've been featured in Skratch magazine
- we've been featured in BuzzGrinder magazine
- HM Magazine review
- featured in Alternative Press's "Listening Station"
- PunkNews.org review of our first album
- one of Alternative Press's "100 bands you need to know"
- featured in Guitar Player magazine

etc...
Sorry, I'm getting uncomfortable trying to feel important. Hah.

So anywho, there you go. I can't really think of why our page would have been deleted, but hopefully this helps establish the fact that we have a presence other places and are, by no means, trying to use Wiki as our press presence on the internet.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and hopefully I hear back from you soon.

Cheers!

"Our" page got deleted? That shows a blatant conflict of interest which is a problem. Are you trying to promote the band? Maybe you should try Facebook as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. -- Alexf(talk) 13:37, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

To be fair, I said "the Wiki page for The Felix Culpa, our band, has been deleted," and later shortened it to, "our page," for the sake of... I don't know... not expecting it to be misinterpreted and become almost the entire basis for your response. I apologize if that caused any confusion and lead any party to potentially believe we were claiming ownership (editorial or otherwise) of any Wiki page, but I think that's really reading into things a bit much. I think it's safe to say that I've never held anyone at fault for saying, "their Wikipedia page," when talking about CERN and referencing CERN's Wikipedia page; I'm not sure that I'd have corrected the statement with, "hey, it's not their page!"
I would have no reason not to hold my aforementioned phrase in the same light, especially when I'd specifically, clearly referred to it as a Wikipedia page (rather than "our" page) earlier on.

As for the implication that I am (or someone in the band is) the editor of said page (per the COI reference)... unless I've been grossly misinformed, no member of our band has ever had a hand in creating content on the Wikipedia page that was established for information revolving around The Felix Culpa. Other than the IP i'm writing you from, I have no proof of this; unfortunately, since IP addresses obviously change based on connection location, I find myself at a loss as to how I could prove my point on this particular matter. I/we are not trying to promote our band through Wikipedia; that's what our label, website, social media pages and retained PR firm are for. The page deletion was brought to our attention, and this was/is my attempt to do something about it. Am I to infer from your lack of any response to the matter, save for the short, seemingly assumption-based statement, that contacting you was the incorrect avenue of approach here? If you're insinuating that I'm biased, that makes sense only to the degree that it would impede my ability to maintain this page from a neutral standpoint. Since I do not maintain the page, don't intend to, and simply provided informational links to prove the legitimacy of the subject that was contained within the Wikipedia page in question, I'd render me being biased a moot point.

We exist, we exist in the public eye, you now have references to such, and part of that public created an informational Wikipedia page which was deleted. I'd say that a case to get the Wikipedia page for The Felix Culpa reinstated/undeleted is sound; of course, that decision is ultimately up to you.

Please let me know if there is any other information I need to provide you with, or if there is anything else I can do here.

Cheers.

Broadweave

In my edit summary I said I would take it to AFD, but after a bit of WP:BEFORE research, I don't think that's justified. There appears to be a decent amount of coverage in news sources, particularly around the acquisition of iProvo. So although the article is currently unsourced, I think notability could be established. If you still think it should go to AFD, feel free, but probably it would be better to try adding sources, or perhaps merge it with the much better-written and sourced iProvo article. --RL0919 (talk) 14:49, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

I was looking into this after reading your comment on AfD. I nominated for speedy as I thought it unsourced and promotional and wanted a second opinion. I abide by your comments here. It is already tagged as GNG and lack of sources Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 14:52, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Then you should read about notability for organizations and groups. If you see they meet the requirements then you can write it, as long as it is sourced and properly cited and not original research which is not allowed. If you cannot write it yourself, you can always request it. Note that having changed your son's life, laudable as it may be, is not enough reason to have an article. -- Alexf(talk) 21:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

New, Updated Page Creation for "Doan Law Firm"

Hi Alex,

My name is Ms. LeGrande and I am a resident in Oceanside, California. I created a page for "Doan Law Firm" a few days ago which is a well-known Southern California law firm, especially I know personally of a number of acquaintances who retained their services with bankruptcy, etc in this economic downtime. So I thought I'd create a page for it during this holiday season.

I read the explanation for its deletion - lack of significance. I now do acknowledge its lack of significance - it offered some general information but was a little short. To improve on my previous post, I'll take a day or two and gather more facts and make a more encyclopedic/inclusive-of-significance entry. I hope I will have created a fair, standard page then. Please let me know if my updated entry conforms the standards of Wikipedia.

I am new to Wikipedia but am already looking forward to get a little more involved! I love Wikipedia personally. Again, I am excited to join Wikipedia and I look forward to get in contact with you. Thank you and happy holidays!

Keiteelegrande (talk) 19:53, 26 December 2010 (UTC)Ms. LeGrande

Welcome. Please read Your First Article which hopefully will be informative and helpful. As per articles, they have to have a basic assertion of notability, which it lacked. -- Alexf(talk) 21:03, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Golden Banana Awards

Hi mate

I noticed you had deleted my page Golden Banana Awards because it had no explanation on why is should be on wikipedia. Can you tell me what I should put on the page in order for it to meet with the administrators demands. The page is in the same genre as Golden Globe Award but I can't see anything obvious on its page which explains why its there.

Thanks, Cole — Preceding unsigned comment added by DrColePorter (talkcontribs) 13:29, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Simple. How is it notable? The Golden Globe page has several verifiable, independent sources. The Golden Banana page had none. The only outside reference was to its own website which is not a valid reference (circular references never are). For more information, see the Primary, secondary, and tertiary sources section of the NOR policy. Also a correction to your question if I may. It is not "administrator's demands" but Wikipedia Policy. -- Alexf(talk) 14:46, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

article deleted

Hi. I notice you speedy deleted an article, Power Le Poer Trench, with the rationale "A10: Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic". A couple of minor points on that action. The DNB text I added was not a duplicate, it was a significant expansion, and it had a significant history, my minor copy edit would not be trivial to a new editor. The problem was being discussed, but it cannot be assumed I would work out where my version went; advising editors of deletion is appropriate. I'll also note that no source has been provided for the earlier article's title "William Power le Poer Trench", though the rationale was something about 'Common name' the variant was not forthcoming [2] ... I'll check that again with the editor, but I assume it was their error that caused the duplication of topic. I understand the solution is a to perform a history merge, unless there is a reason to hide revisions, I can explain how to do that if you like. cygnis insignis 03:21, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

I placed the A10 tag at the top of the article created Cygnis insignis because there can't be two Wikipedia biography articles about the same person, even if the text is different. The older article was titled William Trench (archbishop) (created by me) and the newer article was titled Power Le Poer Trench (created by Cygnis insignis, and cut and pasted from Trench, Power Le Poer (DNB00)). The new article has been deleted and the older one was moved and took its place. The older article did/does have sources before any recent changes this month, see here, they were/are in the References section. Scrivener-uki (talk) 18:20, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
That's what I saw and understood when I looked at the speedy request. Should there be a need to merge, I could userfy the article but I would not be able to do the merge for lack of time, and specific knowledge on the subject. You guys let me know if there's a need. -- Alexf(talk) 18:50, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I would find it convenient to restore history, and I'm pretty sure there is no objection. The procedure is to delete the article [comment: "process deletion, back in a minute"], then you will able to recreate it by clicking restore [restore full history]. cygnis insignis 19:33, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
You mean restore the article? No. It would be a duplication as we already saw. In case you want it userfied and want to do a merge from please say so. -- Alexf(talk) 19:54, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
I mean restore the history, not the article. The user copy pasted the DNB version I added into the pre-existing, probably wrongly named, article. Leaving the current version is fine, it is virtually the same text. I'm not asking you to restore my version, just the incorrect deletion of my contribution in the page history. cygnis insignis 20:44, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Alexf - My name is Kyrish Iyer, and I work for Northeastern Fine Jewelry. This isn't in anyway shape or form supposed to be an advertisement, but rather a way to increase awareness. We are a small company, but we hold many informational events such as "the 4 C's of diamonds" and "gem masters" where we educate those looking for information. We've had quite a few people who were intrigued with our store history, wanted to know more about what we do, etc., and I thought Wikipedia would be a good way to get this information out.

My apologies if it did read all advertisement-y. With your help, I can clean it up more to read more "Encyclopedia-y" I realize you have plenty of businesses in Wikipedia (Toys R us, for instance) and would like to contribute as well.

Thank you kindly, I look forward to hearing your response! Kyrish (talk) 14:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC) Kyrish Iyer--Kyrish (talk) 14:08, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Please see my reply on my talk page, or the article's talk page. It's not a copyvio in the sense of theft but it is still definitely a breach of the terms of the UN copyright because WP isn't permitted to allow third parties to copy it. andy (talk) 20:24, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Ok but the proper place to request is at AIV. I also semi-protected the page for a while. Note that the place to request protection is at RFPP. Please remember to sign your posts in Talk pages with four tildes (~~~~) in the future. -- Alexf(talk) 22:49, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Continued vandalism of Gai Assulin

Hello there Alex, could you please take a look at the situation surrounding Raulseixas and his friends 187.55.21.35, 189.30.92.37 and 189.30.112.119. This involves the continued mission to remove infomation from the Gai Assulin page. I suspect the IP accounts to be all Raulseixas and have setup Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Raulseixas‎ as after initially sending a vandalism warning to Raulseixas he ceased his edits from his account but the same disruptive edits continued through the three IP accounts until reverting back to Raul when you semi-protected the page. Though I don't think Raulseixas is vandalising for the sake of it, he so far has refused to communicate or co-operate and despite there being hardened evidence that Assulin in fact was part of the Barcelona first team squad he oddly cannot seem to accept this and continues to remove this from Assulin's info box. Though I am fully aware that Assulin never played a league game for Barcelona, he was still involved in a first team cup match and was handed a first team squad number which would constitute him being a member of the first team squad whether he featured or not he was still contracted to both Barcelona and Barcelona B. I have tried talking to Raulseixas about this and I have sent several vandalism template warnings in an attempt to prevent further disruptive edits but as of yet I have heard nothing from him and these edits continue. As I am not an administrator myself could I please ask could you take a look at the situation. Many Thanks and a Happy New Year Footballgy (talk) 13:18, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I'll take a look, but if you have a dispute like this, the place to request assistance, better than calling an individual admin, is to post at the proper board, ANI or AN3 depending on what the case may be. This way you get more exposure and several admins can look into the problem. -- Alexf(talk) 15:11, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I'll keep that in mind for future reference, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Footballgy (talk) 15:18, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
