Welcome to the Wikipedia!
editWelcome to the Wikipedia, Allemannster! And thanks for fixing the Wikilink over on the Science fiction article. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and Manual of Style.
- When you have time, you can peruse The five pillars of Wikipedia, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always keep the notion of NPOV in mind, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your unique perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, Wikiquette, and you can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Allemannster, and have fun! Ombudsman 01:33, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Thumb_6605_dolly_read_03.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Thumb_6605_dolly_read_03.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 01:35, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
RE: MKA
editThe edit I undid, as you can see in the link, corrects what I can only assume is either a test (hopefully) or actual vandalism, namely changing the title of "Midway" to "Midpay". ≈ The Haunted Angel 20:38, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Alright then. I'm trying to stay out of the release date discussion, as I do not know the actual date at all, so I'll leave the date debate up to you - it's just that "Midpay" bit I intended to revert. Happy editing :) ≈ The Haunted Angel 20:42, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- Not much really, other then to provide relevant sources that back you up, and to talk it out on the talk page. ≈ The Haunted Angel 21:12, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have given the user the correct warning template, to hopefully stop this edit war from continuing. I don't see why exactly IGN isn't a reliable source, but considering you have a source, where he has none, it looks like things are in your favour. Even though I haven't seen you make any personal attacks yet, my guess is that if this carries on (s/he is already bordering on personal attacks) it may start to get out of hand - so remember to keep cool, although as I said, I haven't seen you be anything but yet :) ≈ The Haunted Angel 21:50, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- That should be more then enough now - the anon user is now on his/her final warning, so either they will have to cease the what is now becoming vandalism, or simply be banned. I'll keep an eye out :) ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:05, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- I don't mind - as his/her removal would now be classed as vandalism, I don't think you are in violation of the 3RR. If I do see him/her make any such edits, I will remove them on sight, however. And no problem ^_^ ≈ The Haunted Angel 22:11, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
- It appears to have stopped for the moment, but is likely to continue soon... for the moment, all is ok, but if he continues, I will have to start throwing warning templates at him. ≈ The Haunted Angel 09:30, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
