Thanks for your support on my RFA request. It seems that had I waited one day with self-nominating, it would have succeeded. Jordi· 09:05, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

mozilla

Hi, Andrevan. Why the Mozilla reversion? Bbpen 21:20, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Kindly read the edited version more carefully; I removed no information. Moreover, the edit solved several sentence structure problems. For example, the problem of IE's non-adherence to Web standards -- largely, its nonstandard interpretation of HTML and CSS -- is no longer grouped under the inappropriate rubric of "insecurity." The edit also reduces the emphasis on Microsoft actions, which is distracting and out of place in the introduction of an already overlong article (46K!) on Firefox. Indeed, I'd suggest we delete the last sentence entirely, and take the thought up when the article mentions SP2 far below. Bbpen 01:02, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)
"Poor program design" is redundant; all of IE's flaws noted here are poor program design. Similarly, "insecurity" is covered for the purposes of the intro by citing the ActiveX and malware examples. The topic is delved into in much more detail below -- as is the Microsoft history. Moreover, the sentence "Microsoft, for its part, has said that..." does not makes your point, which (I gather) is that MS' lackluster response to consumer demand opened a crucial opportunity for Firefox. If you want to say that, go ahead; it sounds like a valuable addition. But the text doesn't say that now -- and it says what it does say more clunkily than necessary. Bbpen 05:38, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Hi Andre. Question regarding "biased" article topics.

Thank you for the welcome. I do have one question that you may be able to answer. I've noticed that some articles like chickenhawk, 2004 election controversies, Ohio, and liberal media are to some extent or another political and inherently geared towards one side of the political spectrum or another. However, these articles may also contain valuable information. Where does Wikipedia draw the line between not having POV and removing concrete knowledge from the encyclopedia?

Japanese names

Some people like to know the original name of a fictional character. In addition, the article talks about things specific to the Japanese version of SSBM (e.g. seiyu). So why not do it here? WhisperToMe 20:57, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

#rpgcomics!

Glad the WikiProject is helpful! :) And yep that's me from Nightstar even though most of the chat there is now moved to #4toontellers. Check is out sometime! :D --Sketchee 00:45, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)

Nomination

Thanks for your support on requests for adminship. Happy new year. Tim Ivorson 17:38, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Andrevan, you listed Game Boy Evolution for VFD, but the tag was removed by an anon. Is that article still there in VFD? It should be. The entire wikiarticle is BS, and based on fanboy rumors. As if Nintendo was going to split its handheld market down the middle 1-yr after the DS launch. Should I revert, or do you want to? Terrapin 20:19, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Call for AMA election

AMA Member Advocate,

There's a poll currently in the AMA Homepage about making a new AMA Coordinator election. Please, cast your vote there (though it's not mandatory). Any comments you have about this, write it on the AMA Homepage talk page. Cheers, --Neigel von Teighen 18:43, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

AMA Membership Meeting

As AMA Coordinator I am requesting that suggestions be placed on Wikipedia:AMA Membership Meeting plans for our first membership meeting, to be held in the near future, (hopefully before any election occurs.) Since we have never had any kind of "official" meeting we need to discuss how this will occur (i.e. Wiki pages or IRC channel), how it will be structured (i.e. meeting agenda) and if there will be any "chair" to supervise the meeting and meeting "secretary" to write up minutes or keep some kind of official record of what transpires. Thanks in advance for your input and your continued work as an advocate. — © Alex756 19:47, 5 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Andre, I Need Your Help

I originated the article John Melendez. A couple of unregistered users contiune to vandalize my articule constently, and insist on converting it into a stub Just because "they" think the person in question doesn't deserve an article. I put time and effort into it. I told them that if they had a problem to take to arbiration. Help me protect my article from "these" people. They want to force a revert war which I don't want. Tony the Marine

I've explined the two list form on WikiProject

Please see my comments on that page, and let me know what you think of them. You removed the two list form, and asked for comments. JesseW 05:02, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Akrotiri and Dhekelia vote

I urge you to reconsider your vote on the inclusion of Akrotiri and Dhekelia as dependencies in Europe at Template talk:Europe. The CIA World Factbook now lists them [1] as dependencies of the UK and has separate entries for the two ([2] & [3].) They also have this note posted on the main page [4]:

Recent confirmation that the United Kingdom Government administers the Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia on Cyprus as dependencies (and not as lease areas like the US Guantanamo Bay Naval Station in Cuba) has required a changing of their status and their addition to the Factbook as new entities.

Thanks. —Cantus 06:12, Jan 14, 2005 (UTC)

Mediation

Are you available for mediation? Ollieplatt 00:53, 22 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The reason I called the links "misleading" is that the articles they link to aren't what's being discussed. If I'm reading an article about a game or book with a character named "Garry Kasparov," I expect the link to take me to an article explaining the character and why he got that name, and what his (her? its?) eccentricities are, not to an article on the real-life Garry Kasparov. I'm not going to revert the changes or get into an edit war over them, because it's not THAT big of a deal, but I did want to explain why I de-linked them in the first place. cringe: America's Army

I know you technically "quit", but I was wondering if either A) You can take a look at the current discussion going on under "Serious Game" or B) Ask someone else you trust to look into it. The person, that you're well aware of, is being (to be absolutely frank) an idiot -again- and I'm hoping to get this resolved once and for all. I don't care if this has to go to the Mediation Committe or Arbitration Committee or whatever, I just want this done. This certain IP is unwilling to put aside his bias in the article or the Army in general to come to any sort of agreement on the discussion. Showing proof from numerous sources, he still persists. -- If theres another way in which I should have this handled (etc) let me know. My apolgies for dragging you into this again :D K1Bond007 00:34, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)

That line you quoted is another ongoing debate. In fact, theres somewhat of a revert war going on over that statement. Taking a look at RFC, it would appear someone already listed it. K1Bond007 03:11, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
How does one request mediation or ??. I think the article obviously needs it. K1Bond007 17:59, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
Well there already is an RfC apparently, right? What more can I do there? K1Bond007 19:08, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)

Unrelated: How does one properly go about archiving a talk page, I just realised that my talk page is above 32KB? Thanks for you help K1Bond007 18:03, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. An RFC was started by User:Frecklefoot although it needs to be heavily expanded. Wikipedia:Requests for comment/62.52.37.xxx K1Bond007 01:02, Jan 28, 2005 (UTC)
