Proposed deletion of 2024 zebra escape

  Resolved
Extended content

The article 2024 zebra escape has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTNEWS. Animal escapes are routine and rarely have a long-term impact.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Extended content

Hello Another Believer:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in June 2024!

Running from June 1 to 30, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Going Back in Time! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 20 centuries by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

Copyedit notes on Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams

Extended content

I think the GA reviewer gave you some good notes on Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams. I did some minor additional ce, mostly MOS, and here are some more notes before I take it off the WP:GOCER request page.

  • After first mention in body-prose, would it be okay to refer to Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams as either "Kalorie" or "Karbdashian-Williams"? It's a little more concise and I feel easier to read, and shouldn't be confusing. MOS:SURNAME rules say that for pseudonyms, to use the surname form of the pseudonym. An alternative way of handling it would be to use the "common name" (however she is commonly referred to in sources, whether first name, last name, or nickname), so "Karbdashian" might also be okay.
  • The quote from Metrosource is problematic in two ways. First, it's over 40 words which is the threshold that we should use a blockquote (MOS:BLOCKQUOTE). Second, but more importantly, it's more than 10% of the source (which I count at 374 words) which goes against our fair use guidelines for text. (The guidelines are 10% for video and audio clips WP:NFC and text should certainly be no more than this.) So I'd like to see this quote knocked down to 37 words or less. I'll take a crack at it:
Paul Hagen wrote for Metrosource that the LGBT magazine's staff "got behind Kalorie's big-is-beautiful ethos, and her inspiring story of reshaping her life" after Hernandez's high school weight gain, and that they had "rarely seen any contestant on Drag Race twerk on the runway with such vigor."

I think that works, feel free to use it, and please ping me if you have any questions. – Reidgreg (talk) 11:47, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

@Reidgreg Thanks for the review and notes! In most cases, articles about drag performers use their full name throughout since their last name is not a true last name. For the sake of consistency with other Good articles about drag performers, I will leave her name alone for now. Thanks again! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:06, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

Restaurant logos

So one day I decided to improve a California stub and found a restaurant article. I noticed that there's a lot of missing stuff. Where do you usually get a restaurant's logo from? Thanks, TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 14:36, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

@TrademarkedTWOrantula Most of the time, the restaurant's Facebook page or official website (cropped screenshot). For very simple logos, sometimes other editors move the file to Wikimedia Commons, but I always start by uploading the logo under fair use at English Wikipedia and let others decide. Hope this helps and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:38, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
If the logo is properly marked as fair use, its resolution can be automatically adjusted after uploading. The mechanism is explained at WP:IMAGERES. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:18, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Image for Okta (restaurant)

Hello. Do you know how I can get an image of the restaurant building? I couldn't find a free image on Flickr, and I don't live in Oregon. If you know any people who live near the area or city, that would be great. Thanks, TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 21:11, 30 June 2024 (UTC)

@TrademarkedTWOrantula Sorry, no. I have the same problem with many articles lacking images. Just gotta wait until someone is willing to take and upload one! You can always ask editors for help at WikiProjects, such as WikiProject Oregon. ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:21, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
