Careful with flag icons

edit

The flags you put back on 2015 WTA Tour are against wikpedia and Tennis Project guidelines and consensus, not to mention MOS:ICON. We only use them to show tennis player nationality on the international stage. It was really tough to convince wikipedia editors to keep them for any reason, but Project Tennis worked hard to find consensus among other sports projects, so we use them for players only. Thanks. I want your opinion about WL/WGP pools composition

edit

Hello! I think World League(WL)/World Grand Prix(WGP) article should keep original pool composition from FIVB announcement, WL WGP. The pools composition order by ranking, but I didn't agree. Here are my reason

  • 1. Many competition pages didn't use ranking order like European championship didn't use European ranking order. The competition had a format(can see in it regulation) of pools composition which didn't order by ranking, the article had kept the original composition. Also in Asian championship which had a format, too(from regulation).
  • 2. I have seen a format of WGP group1 in 2014 and 2015. Both had the same format to change week1' pools composition to week2 and week3, but I wasn't sure. Now, I am sure that there are the format of WL/WGP pools composition. Because the 2016 pools composition of WGP group1 and all groups of WL use the same format. I made the table in order to compare the pools composition in User:Noncommittalp/sandbox Please visit my sendbox to see it, you will see the relation. The format in 2016 a little bit change from 2014/2015 WGP. If you want to know, I can show you later.
  • 3. The World ranking didn't relate anything in WL/WGP's pools composition unlike both men's and women's World championships.
  • 4. The old competition articles, especially, didn't denote the World ranking except the World championship article which use the ranking directly. And, I can understand why they didn't denote the ranking, because there aren't relation.
  • 5. FIVB sport regulation use the position of the pools composition to match up schedule by Berger table (wikipedia has only French article).
So, please consider, and tell me how do you think? Thank you. Noncommittalp (talk) 17:15, 6 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I can understand your logic. I find, however that the order by drawing of lots can be confusing for the general audience. The FIVB rankings will made the pools composition less confusing and people can see the teams ranked among the others in the same pool. Also, it looks nice. Arielslytherin (talk) 14:23, 7 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

But, the ranking can make people think the ranking relate to pools composotion. Actually, the ranking is not necessary to denote in the composition. In the World grand prix competition pages, not include 2014-2015 edition, did not denote the ranking. Because it did not relate nothing in the composition. I think it should be the same format inthe competition pages. Noncommittalp (talk) 11:09, 16 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have had this problem, because 2013 and older WGP pages have shown pool composition which FIVB announced, not World ranking order, not alphabetically. So, I really did not understand why I can't use the same way. I want an answer. So, all WGP pages should use World ranking order, right? I will the old pages in World ranking. But. I prefer alphabetically.

I also have some topic and want your opinion, How do you think if I change all times of intercontinental round to UTC+0. I think it is easy for readers to compare their time.
Next one about pool ranking criteria, Do you think if I change "Pool standing procedure" to "Pool ranking criteria" like recent FIVB competitions. And about number 5, Result of the last match between the tied teams, is for the two tied teams. When more than two teams are tied, I think "result of last match between the tied teams" is wrong.Noncommittalp (talk) 15:49, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

GMT Time in FIVB Events

edit

Hey, I see that you supported the local time instead of the GMT time. Do you agree with it or not ? I got used to the local time, but if people are ok with it, then I don't mind. Thanks 94.155.238.11 (talk) 12:48, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I also get used to local time, and tbh using only GMT for different countries may be a little misleading (the grand prix group played in Argentina showing four days of play is an evidence). Local time is the best choice for me. Arielslytherin (talk) 19:29, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't look horrible to me, but to be fair I don't care about it at all. If more people agree with the removal, go ahead. Keep in mind that one can make an argument about the host sign being in the other team competitions in Rio (look at handball, basketball etc.). Still, not a solid argument. Since you're moving lots of SvG's articles into mainspace, and presumably checking them over first, can you please request the autopatrolled right? This way other editors don't need to check them all again. Thanks. Bradv 16:15, 31 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Don't bother, I'm moving your "checked" pages back since they clearly aren't sufficiently checked and do need to be checked all over again. E.g. Draft:Agata Durajczyk, sourced only to [1]. That page doesn't mention her, but we can go one page further to the Polish team roster at [2]. Oops, she isn't mentioned there at all. No idea what you checked, but we can't trust it. Either do a much better job or stop "checking" and moving these. Fram (talk) 08:23, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Qualification, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Javier Guerra (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
