Moving Amhara conflict

edit

Hello @AstroidX. I started a discussion at the Amhara conflict page- proposing to move the article to War on Amhara since this war was waged by the government against the Amhara resistance forces that has the rights to exist per Article 52 of the constitutition. If this topic isnt controversial, then the article can be moved without WP:RM. Could you please add your comment at the talk page? Petra0922 (talk) 19:27, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ethiopian History

edit

Hey there! The sources you asked for can be found if you touched the Kingdom(s), they are all hyperlinked and redirected via the touch single if you so choose. Its well document that D'mt was the first form of Ethiopia government documented well, and the Kingdom of Aksum around 150 BC, you can find the sources if you touch the respective page. Its generally considered appropriate if you leave alone and add a citation on the Country section, unless its GDP statistics, since again Hyperlinks exist if you want to find about such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CtasACT (talkcontribs) 00:04, 21 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello @CtasACT:, you recently restore your previous edit to the infobox's establishment section in the article Ethiopia. I understood your reason but you must be aware of citing references (not necessary to the establishment section, but you must demonstrate why you added D'mt and Axum before the Ethiopian Empire in edit summary. Edit summary is useful to validate your edit assertion by adding meaningful reason. So, I'm fine for your message. :) AsteriodX (talk) 14:53, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your recently created article

edit

Hi, first I'd like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia in a much-neglected area. I'm very happy to see constructive contributors help in areas where the majority of Wikipedia users may not have the relevant expertise or language proficiency.

I've done some copyediting and grammar fixes to the article that you created, Educational crisis in Ethiopia since 2020. I do, however, have some questions I want to ask of you.

I can't seem to find any particular educational crisis article of another country; usually they are a section in articles of the form [education] in [country]. Is there a reason why you decided to split this one out in particular / do you know of any other examples of articles of the same type? I'm fairly certain that the article on its own passes the general notability guidelines, but I'm not entirely sure if the current title is the best one, or if a move or merge is the best option. Of course, you are free to add sources and content to the article if you do plan to, or to further define the scope of the article you plan to cover.

Once again thank you for your contributions, and I hope you do decide to stay long-term. Fermiboson (talk) 22:22, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for admiration Mr. Fermiboson. I'm glad to see your encouragement for Wikipedia contribution. I created Educational crisis in Ethiopia since 2020 yesterday after evaluating the content size of Education in Ethiopia, which is too large to add additional section and information. In addition, I realized that the recent educational crisis in Ethiopia has been widely covered by numerous news sources. The coverage is far important than the historical failure of education before, which is merely covered in Education in Ethiopia. For example, I found a source quoting "Since 2020, the education sector has faced significant difficulties due to the closure of schools caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similar to many other countries worldwide, the Ethiopian government made the decision to shut down schools after the first reported case was identified in Addis Abeba on 16 March, 2020."
So, I've decided to merge the article with Education in Ethiopia, but the article seemed to me important because of it is "unprecedented educational catastrophe" described by ReliefWeb, Addis Standard and other notable news sources. If you have further idea, let me know. AsteriodX (talk) 14:22, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the reply. I've tagged the article as reviewed for now, feel free to continue improving the article. Fermiboson (talk) 14:24, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello AsteriodX! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. CMD (talk) 02:52, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oops! Very sorry to hear that! Thank you for your notice. I thought I copy-pasted the contents that are heavily quoted by the speaker. I didn't realize that. AsteriodX (talk) 19:33, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Issue of articles

edit

Hello there AsteroidX! Thank you for your work on editing and creating pages about the current events in Ethiopia. This helps to keep the world informed about the current situation of the country. However, there is a problem to be a problem when you make these. You constantly use incorrect grammar and terminologies, and the pages usually appear disorganized and poorly done, which shouldn't be the case for any Wikipedia article. Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia and a place for research and information, therefore, pages shouldn't appear disorganized, especially on topics where there is virtually no mainstream media coverage or information. So please work on your grammar and use correct phrases when creating Wikipedia pages. Hamasien (talk) 13:20, 20 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Hamasien for your conformation, but can you tell me example of pages where grammar improvement is needed please? I want to know. AsteriodX (talk) 18:14, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Nebiy Mekonnen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gone with the Wind. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 19:53, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
