John Maximum

Hi, could you please provide the source (book, website, etc.) which you used for writing that article? Thanks! --JoanneB 19:25, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey joanne, two main sources for this information: www.principiamathematica.com 25th July 1992, ran Maximum's obituary, giving the birth and death dates. Although a recent check appears to show that the site is down at the moment. Also Maximum's own book "Introduction to Harmonic Functions and Laplace Analysis" gives information about his private life and the start of the theorem, as well as the picture provided within the prefix.

There is no such book. The maximum principle is already mentioned in Polya and Szego, Aufgaben und Lehrsatze aus der Analysis, published in 1924, which is meant for undergraduate students so it was standard by that time. You are disseminating false information on Wikipedia. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 11:45, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nice try regarding that picture of the book and the website, but both don't exist (even though you did create a pretty real looking picture): the book can't be found anywhere, and that website did not exist before 1998. Please stop making up information. It would be great if you would contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, but by adding made up information to it you're damaging it and if you continu to do so, you will be blocked. --JoanneB 13:11, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cheers for your comment, I'm glad you liked the picture. Of course I'll be happy to stop now, sorry for any inconvenience. I'll go back to adding constructive information only.

Thanks :) --JoanneB 17:12, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
