Deletion user: Rutger Smits

Hi, I created my user page in response to the suggestion that I should the editor of my profile page. Having read the reason for deletion, it is difficult to understand where you draw the line. Can you undelete the sections of the page that ARE allowable , so at least I have profile page? Thank you 144.132.242.194 (talk) 11:35, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dear Athaenara:

I am an intern at WordTheatre, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring a love of language and literature by presenting live performances of contemporary short stories. We feature renowned actors who bring to life exquisitely crafted stories penned by the finest authors working today. A while back, another intern created a Wikipedia page for our organization, and I saw that you deleted the page. We are new to Wikipedia, and would love the opportunity to explain what WordTheatre is all about in the best article we can. If you could tell us why you deleted our page that would be wonderful.

Thank you,

Hello Athaenara,

I joined Prologis' corporate communications group a few months ago and am keen to restore the company's Wikipedia entry. It appears you deleted the posting due to violations of Wikipedia's policies: 23:55, 8 August 2011 Athaenara (talk | contribs) deleted page Prologis (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion: more at User talk:Prologis - please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox)

I would be happy to make any necessary changes to re-instate Prologis. Please advise.

Neutrality/Conflict warning on page

Athaenara, in March 2010, you posted a neutrality/conflict of interest warning on the page for Barker/DZP. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker/DZP It appears that the article was rewritten according to your specifications to eliminate the promotional aspects of the content. The warning however has not been deleted. Please examine the page and let me know if you agree that the article is now in compliance with Wikipedia standards. Many thanks, Barkerdzp (talk) 23:34, 1 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Undelete request (Litera)

Hi Athaenara. I notice that you deleted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litera on 21 June 2010. Any chance that page could be restored? I would like to modify the page so that it is neutral in tone and content and does not serve as a promotion. Kind regards, Dan Dillon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inoldland (talkcontribs) 13:57, 15 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Per the 21 June 2010 WP:UND discussion, Litéra was undeleted and moved to its current location at User:Docexpert101/Litéra by Tikiwont (talk · contribs) that day.
If you (director of marketing for the company) still think some version of it belongs in Wikipedia article space, the discussions in Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 12#Litera, User talk:Docexpert101, User talk:Athaenara/Archive 8#Deletion of Litera, User talk:ICPO3, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Litéra Software remain highly pertinent. – Athaenara 14:02, 19 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, Athaenara. The entry on Litera has been substantivley revised in response to the promotional considerations. I greatly appreciate your help. - Dan Dillon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Inoldland (talkcontribs) 19:26, 22 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

DJ Jose Solis

(Dec 14, Fri, 2012) Dear administrator, we are members of the managing team of artist DJ Jose Solis, we were creating his wikipedia artist professional page and we received a notification about the deletion of the page. We are not attempting to advertise something, etc. We just want to create his wikipedia page, many partners have a page on Wikipedia, why not him? Examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferry_Corsten http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_van_Buuren — Preceding unsigned comment added by DJoseSolis (talkcontribs) 18:22, 14 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

When I deleted a Jose Solis page in February 2011, it was a redirect to a José Solis page about a Salvadoran footballer (not your DJ) which had been deleted per WP:CSD#A7 (click link for what that means).
I don't know what you think a "wikipedia artist professional page" is, but you need to read and understand the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline. – Athaenara 01:25, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Page Deletion

Salutations. We have not met before but you took action to delete a page I was creating this morning which was going to be an index of companies in the Car Tuning/After Market Improvement Space. The taxonomy of Wikipedia is accommodating for providing listings of relevant topics that support and/or compliment areas of knowledge. Actually, the cross indexing of such information is highly critical to the research needs of individuals who are studying car tuning (I am a graduate student in the field of design) and within the boundaries of Wikipedia norms and policies. In this case, the entire topic is one in the eye of popular culture (there are few design reasons for implementing such improvements) and therefore cross referencing with other areas (like a listing of valid companies) makes sense for a variety of reason. As a researcher I find this logic used to deleted a list of relevant companies (with creditability) to be shortsighted and not only out of league with the policies of Wikipedia but also outside of the spirit of collaborative communication and knowledge sharing. I await your response...and/or suggestions as I firmly disagree this content was being developed for business reasons. EdwardSpeaks71.160.151.84 (talk) 17:35, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

I didn't delete that page, which seems to have been an effort to advertise the "Claus Ettensberger Corp." I did delete the CEC page in May 2010 (more than two years ago) after it was tagged for deletion as per the notification at the time on User talk:Bpabrams (claims like "you can fulfill your automotive dreams at a CEC Tuning Center" etc. have no place in an encyclopedia). – Athaenara 05:12, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Athaenara,

Out of total transparency, I head up Corporate Communications for Prologis, Inc, a publicly-traded real estate company based in San Francisco. I joined the company about 7 months ago and I'm a relative newbie to creating Wikipedia pages. Previously, before I joined the company, some folks had tried to create a Prologis page, but you quickly deleted them (understandably so) because the content was not objective. We are a large, publicly-traded company, and I think it's important for us to have a Wikipedia page with factual, objective information. Can you suggest the best way to go about doing this? I've read many areas of Wikipedia about starting a new page, but it says that in-house PR professionals are discouraged from doing so. I hesitate posting another page that will be deleted again. Or do you suggest creating a very high-level page about Prologis that only includes basic facts (number of employees, where we are headquartered, type of business, etc.) and then hope the Wikipedia community fills out additional content over time? Thank you. Atle 415Atle415 (talk) 23:28, 5 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Whether or not your company wants its importance bolstered by an entry here, Wikipedia itself is not a corporate listing service but an encyclopedia. You should read the Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guidelines if you haven't already done so, and you may seek additional input at the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. – Athaenara 14:04, 7 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Help restoring an article from my user space

Hello, several years ago an article from my user space was deleted: "05:40, 18 June 2010 Athaenara (talk | contribs) deleted page User:Robert Kavanaugh/IsoSproutPlex (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)." As I don't have any wiki-formatted version of that draft, and as I'm seeking help with review and publication of an article on IsoSproutPlex from some of the same individuals who were involved in the original AfD trial, based upon the recent third-party, peer-reviewed journal articles on the subject, I need a starting point to help them help me. Is it possible to undelete this article back into my user space so I can work on it in a wikimedia format? Thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Kavanaugh (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 14:52, 21 November 2013‎ (UTC)Reply

Paros

You deleted an entry ( Jerome Paros) on which I was working in my sandbox. I was under the impression ( mistakenly apparently) that the sandbox was an area in which the author might create a rough sketch and do work prior to formal submission. I didn't think it would actually be subject to scrutiny and public review prior to formal submission. What I assembled in the sandbox were a series of random thoughts in the process of being properly organized and referenced. I was also in the process of excising any inappropriate material. I was shocked and surprised to find that my entry was being scrutinized and evaluated before I had an opportunity to fully edit it to my satisfaction. I would like the opportunity to complete the entry and would also appreciate your input as to which aspects you considered "promotional." I would certainly incorporate your suggestions into my final efforts. AppreciativelyParos1 (talk) 21:11, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Lawrence Paros ( Paros1)Reply

Deletion User Paros1/sandbox

Hi Athaenara. I notice that you deleted my entry at Paros1/sandbox. Any chance that page could be restored? I would like to modify the page so that it is neutral in tone and content and does not serve as a promotion. I am also confused on the nature of the sandbox, believing that it was an area in which one might experiment. My work there was nowhere close to being a finished product. How is that it was deleted though I had never finished the entry nor submitted it for review? Paros1 (talk) 21:44, 12 May 2014 (UTC)Lawrence ParosReply

COI related article nominated for deletion

Hi Athaenara,

There is a new essay on the subject of COI that I recently nominated for deletion. There is a lot of back and forth going on as you might imagine, and I thought it might be helpful to ask some editors with a historical interest in the area to give their input.

Just to be clear, you are not being canvassed based on my perceptions of what your views are. I am asking for input from the top 10 contributors to the COI Noticeboard, expecting that some expertise and interest might be found here.

Thanks in advance for your input, if you feel able and willing to participate. Formerly 98 talk|contribs|COI statement 22:52, 4 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request for undeletion of "World Photography Awards"

Hi, I was about to create a redirect from World Photography Awards to World Photography Organisation when I realized that you deleted an article under that name in 2008. In 2008 (S)WPA was still new, meanwhile it has been established. Perhaps the old article had useful contents that could be expanded or merged into the World Photography Organisation article, therefore I'd like to have a look. Could you please restore the article? Thanks. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 14:25, 27 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

I took a look at it again (a long time since 2008!) and saw again the amateurish promotional piece that it was. I suggest you take it to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion which is, as it says, "a process intended to assist users in restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion" etc. It could, for example, be undeleted and moved to your userspace while you decide what content, if any, is appropriate and hence usable. – Athaenara 15:12, 27 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Request to undelete my article about Transcrypt

in re: Draft:Transcrypt (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hi Athaenara

Seems you've deleted my article about Transcrypt, an open source Python to Javascript compiler resulting from a project I started. Earlier objections against the article, that was offered for review, have been made with regard to notability by one editor.

I added some more references and also pointed to the fact that similar compilers are discussed on other Wikipedia pages. Of course that doesn't automatically mean the page is now good enough. I am quite open to reason, discussion and improvement, but destroying hours of work (not even a trace in the deletion list) without even reacting on my arguments gives a feeling of dealing with a totalitarian state rather than with a community that welcomes contributions. I invite you to share with me the reasons for deleting this page, so that I may improve it if needed.

Hamish Blakely Article Deletion Notice

in re: Hamish Blakely (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Dear Athaenara,

I totally understand the deletion of my article. As autobiographical material I was completely ill informed regarding your guidelines about how the nature of this content is justifiably treated with caution and ultimately, rejection.

This was a considerable lapse in judgement on my part. My interest in Wikipedia will continue and to further enhance my skills as a writer/contributor, I would like to consider submitting articles, that follow Wikipedia protocol more comprehensively, in the future.

In an effort to wipe the slate clean, may I ask for the removal of the alert on my current article/talk page stating: "This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference." "23:40, 7 May 2017 Athaenara (talk | contribs) deleted page Hamish Blakely (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion: more at User talk:Hamish Blakely)"

As stated, I completely accept the reasons for this template but would be very grateful if this could be removed.

Help with the draft!

Hello Athaenara, I had recently drafted an article for Draft:ITC Infotech which was reviewed and suggestions were given. So I did the changes and submitted again for the review. But I could see the draft is no longer available. Could you please help me with this. I was trying to make the article better based on the suggestions. I am being a new user was trying to make the article better. I would appreciate your suggestions on this. Please do review and let me know if there are any further changes to be made. Do you have any other interest in editing Wikipedia? I ask because, like user Amitabhaitc (talk), you seem to want a page about ITC Infotech and nothing else. Wikipedia is actually an encyclopedia, not just any other free content posting website (compare alternative outlets). – Athaenara 06:28, 19 May 2017 (UTC).Reply

Sedlak Management Consultants

in re: User:Blackracecar/Sedlak Management Consultants (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Was Sedlak Management Consultants "exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION"? If not, would you please restore it to User:Blackracecar/Sedlak Management Consultants, where it was moved from by a user other than its author shortly before it was deleted. If it was, no action is due. Best Regards, — Godsy (TALKCONT) 05:47, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The usual venue is Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion; I won't unilaterally restore promotional pages. – Athaenara 06:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Actually, Wikipedia:Deletion review would be the proper venue (after discussion here of course). Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion is for pages "uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions or rejected Articles for creation drafts), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator" and specifically states "Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7, G5 or G11 be undeleted here." However, I don't wish to challenge the deletion; I just wanted to make sure you would have deleted the content that was recently moved from User:Blackracecar/Sedlak Management Consultants to Sedlak Management Consultants by a user other than its author if it hadn't been moved, because otherwise the content should be restored to User:Blackracecar/Sedlak Management Consultants. One of the conclusions of WP:UP/RFC2016 was If a draft is moved to the mainspace by a user other than its author, then found to be unsuitable for the mainspace for reasons which wouldn't apply in the userspace, it should be returned to the userspace. I realize the GCSD generally apply to all articles regardless of namespace, but it existed for ~7 years in the userspace, hence I just wanted to double check. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 07:34, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
You're right, requests for undeletion and deletion review are more bifurcated now than i remember them being a few years ago. It's interesting that the former specifies not to use it for G11s but doesn't say where to take them instead, and the latter doesn't mention G11 at all.
At any rate, as per your careful explanation of the predicament the user found himself in*, I undeleted the page and moved it back to its original location. – Athaenara 14:32, 21 May 2017 (UTC) (*or didn't: the user hasn't edited Wikipedia since May 2010.) 14:48, 21 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
I looked at it again today, it was still spam, it still didn't belong in user space, and the account hasn't edited in the past seven years. Gone. – Athaenara 18:07, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Since you deleted the article, and it had an AFD tag at the top of it (in addition to the CSD tag you saw), please close the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabriel Garzón-Montano (2nd nomination). ChickTech page feedback?

in re: ChickTech (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) → see also: User talk:Talia679

Hello! This is my first time trying to contribute to an organization page; we're trying to add a neutral, descriptive page for our organization (like Girl Develop It and Women Who Code, our partners). It was deleted after we only had added one line about the year it was created and a list of the locations.

Would you be willing to give me direction on how to improve this? I would appreciate it; stepping up and choosing to be involved on Wikipedia is a bit daunting.

Thank you for your help!

Update: Ah, never mind. I think I figured it out. I found the COI information and hadn't realized that I needed to add COI info to my info on the talk page. I'm not quite sure how to move forward from here, since it seems like volunteers aren't allowed to add information either, but we will try to figure it out! Hi, thanks for deleting this. Would you mind updating the log to show that it was a copyvio as well? The LinkedIn page did not show up in Earwig, but if you load it separately, it is a 100% copy-paste violation. Thanks. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:49, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

My usual practice is to include a link to the COI SPA's talk page in the deletion summary. In this case, your detailed notification, which covers both advertising and copyvio, is on the linked page User talk:Hesham Dandi. – Athaenara 18:27, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
Ah, okay. I had not seen that practice before. I had read in the past that copyright should be noted in the log entry in case someone asks for restoration and to give patrollers an easy url to check if it is recreated. Linking to the notification could also work, I just was checking. Thanks for the answer. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:31, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for deleting UrbanClap, which I had nominated for G11. I see that it has been deleted five times, including in response to an AFD, and other times speedily. I suggest that it be salted. (I would have inserted a salt request into the delete request if I had known the history, but I don't always check the history of a page that obviously needs speedy deleting before nominating the page for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Florian Mehnert

Hello Athaenara, you deleted my article about the artist Florian Mehnert. The art projects of Florian Mehnert I wrote about were non profit. He is one of the very few artists in Germany who is doing political works against mass surveillance and he is well known, not only in Germany also in Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland... His forest protocols (against mass surveillance), his project 11 DAYS (an art project against remote controlled armed drones as a consequence of remote monitoring ) and also his project Freedom 2.0 (dealing with the lost of freedom in relation to BIG DATA) were non profit and gained international response. I don´t see promotional aspects. I did not wrote about his exhibitions or other personal aspects concerning his career. For example he had exhibitions together with Trevor Paglen and Hasan Elahi. I did not mentioned this. I tried to write just about selected projects he did. I I think they are (Florian Mehnert is ) relevant for the contemporary arts. Please tell me more precise, where inside my text you see the promotional aspects. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Artinterested (talkcontribs) 09:27, 16 June 2017 (UTC) and 15:02, 17 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Athaenara,

Recently we created a page about Price f(x) - company providing pricing solutions (Price management, Price optimization- also found on wikipedia). Unfortunately it's deleted today by you and although we did our best to NOT publish article with promotional content, apparently you understood it differently. It has never been our intention to take wikipedia as an advertising. We only want to have article about the company on wikipedia, same as other companies have: IBM, Google, PROS, Amazon..

Although we read many articles how to do it, we are still struggling with having this page back or adjusted accordingly- so that no conflicts are made.

Please, any chance you could help us with that? Thanks a lot Eva — Preceding unsigned comment added by EvkaD25 (talkcontribs) 13:32, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

My own advice, based on years of experience with new single-purpose accounts, (we call them SPAs), is this: Stop. Don't do it. Go promote your wonderful fantabulous unique company on other websites where it's more appropriate, not here where we're trying to build an encyclopedia.
Other editors are more gentle and helpful, believing that such new editors may be converted into actual contributors to the encyclopedia. As it says at the top of our Conflict of interest page, "If you want advice about a conflict of interest, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard." I can recommend that. I recommend more strongly that you read Conflict-of-interest editing on Wikipedia. – Athaenara 13:50, 29 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Dear Editor/Administrator Athaenara,

This is regarding the deletion request for the page Mushtaq Pahalgami, that I had put up as the single author of the page (Samar Khurshid), and was acted upon by you.

The deletion request was put up by mistake by me, in trying to merge content of this page with another related page. I have contacted the Wikipedia central administration and they have asked me to explain the case to you, so you could consider to undo the deletion.

I'd like to bring it to your kind consideration that the page 'Mushtaq Pahlagami' that I had created as a single author in 2014, was mistakenly deleted while I was trying to modify/merge some content from this page to the related organizational page, 'Himalayan Welfare Organization, Pahalgam'. I tried to restore the page, but it had been put up for a deletion discussion by you in the mean time. The discussion is on, and I'd highly appreciate it if you could kindly intervene to have the page restored.

In the 3 years since 2014, the deleted page (which had more than 110 supporting refernces and having met all notability and significance criteria; please see, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUSHTAQ_PAHALGAMI) had almost become the said person's social identity in these three years, and its deletion is bound to have serious implications for both, the concerned person's image and his business's credibility.

Since the deletion has serious social and financial implications for the subject, Mushtaq Pahalgami and his organizational credibility, I desperately urge and request you to consider the gravity of the matter and make an exception in the case by undoing the deletion.

Looking forward to favorable consideration, Kind regards Wikipedia user name: Samar Khurshid Samar khurshid (talk) 06:09, 11 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vaughn Wyant Wikipedia page deletion

Hi Athaenara,

I see that you deleted this page as being promotional. Just wondering if you know this person and are from the local area as the person noted is a notable person especially within the community. I would like to know how exactly this article is "promotional" as it doesn't state anything about the businesses, it actually just speaks as the philanthropic efforts set forth by a well known local celebrity. In fact there are similar pages on Jim Pattison and W. Brett Wilson that are of the same writing style and level of "promotion". So then, these pages should be taken down then or it needs to be more clear where the "promotional" line is crossed as it seems unfair that some pages can stay up and some can't but it has the same degree of content. If you can let me know how exactly it is promotional I would like to learn what constitutes this as such. Our local community needs more local content on places such as Wikipedia. I would like to meet the stringent guidelines to make Wikipedia more useful to our part of the world. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.195.127.70 (talk) 14:52, 11 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also he exhibited his work in the 2nd biggest Photo Convention in Europe twice (Salon de la Photo 2015, Salon de la Photo 2016 in Paris). Also he directed different Musicvideos for Soulja Boy who is one of the biggest HipHop artists of all time with around 10 000 000 followers on Social Media and worked with the biggest names in the industry such as Busta rhymes, Schoolboy Q, Mobb Deep and many more. Dear Athaenara, I wrote you for a request of undeletion of my page for Simonetta Lein. I saw a comment of one of your collegue under it but not your reply. The page was canceled on July 29th and as stated everything was written in that page was backed by sources. Please, let me know what doesn't fit so that we can restore it instead of starting a new one from scratch. It was up for two years with no problems and the draft was approved. I hope to hear from you and to solve this issue. Sincerely — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.44.44.53 (talk) 03:40, 22 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

I think you made a mistake here. Not only did G11 not apply because not all revisions meet the criterion, the article survived a previous AFD and was thus ineligible for speedy deletion per Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#Pages that have survived deletion discussions. Speedy Deletion of Verve International

in re: Verve International (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hello Athaenara,

Verve International was created yesterday, nominated for deletion and speedily deleted.

I had earlier dropped the following on InsertCleverPhraseHere talk page the following instead here...

"Thanks for showing interests in the article Verve International I created hours ago, which has been speedily deleted without giving me the opportunity to defend it. Let me quickly give a background of me: I am a journalist with interests in financial technology and payment industry, especially as related to Nigeria. In the course of researching for my work, I realised there is a dearth of Wikipedia contents about Nigerian payment industry. This discovery lately has spurred me to try as much as possible to get Nigerian contents published on Wikipedia. Like you know, painstaking researches and studies go into Wikipedia writing. This I have done without any prompting from anyone to write the 'Verve International' which has just been deleted. The suggestion that the page was promotional and advertising appears to me unfounded. Is Verve notable? Yes, and eminently so! Further research, as provided in the references, will confirm this. I studied several Wikipedia pages of businesses in payment industry all around the world (e.g. Discover Financial (US), China UnionPay with sections which do not cite sources, JCB Co., Ltd. of Japan, RuPay of India, I will appreciate you showing me the specifics that made 'Verve International' violate Wikipedia guidelines in related to these mentioned pages. There is nowhere in that article I laid claims to things with no citations or references. Thank you as I look forward to your restoring the page, at least for improvement." RovingFingers (talk) 11:29, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Kudpung กุดผึ้ง dropped the following message responding to me...
(talk page stalker). RovingFingers, User:Insertcleverphrasehere was the patroller. The actual deletion was done on further review by administrator Athaenara whom you should contact. I have reviewed the deleted article and it is just possible that it might meet our notability criteria. Verve is a large organisation and is probably unlkely to benfit promotionally from being in Wikipedia. However, as you most probably wrote the article on behalf of Verve, you have a Conflict of Interest and should have declared your associateion with the organisation. I'll let Athaenara respond on your talk page. Any decision to undelete will rest with them. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:02, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
I responded thus...
Kudpung thanks for your comments. I have no association whatsoever with Verve; neither was I contacted by it or its representative(s). The only thing I guess I did that likely seemed promotional was sharing the link with a Whatsapp group (of Financial Technology reporters) I belong to. This I did with an intent to let the group know the page was up should there be need to give background to future stories about Verve. The fact is we are grossly challenged with web-based facts about businesses and issues in Nigeria; and several of us who have taken it upon ourselves to provide such contents when time and resources avail us the opportunity to do so need be encouraged. Athaenara, kindly revisit and review. I have no conflict of interest, nor intended to promote or advertise the page as thought. Deletion of Sher Vancouver and Vinay Giridhar

Hi Athaenara

How are you? I hope you are well.

You deleted pages I created using my Sher Vancouver and Vinay Giridhar accounts. I am actually learning how to use Wikipedia. I wanted to write a page about Sher Vancouver for information and educational purposes. I gathered all the information from verifiable and reliable sources from the internet and created my page. Every sentence had a reference with mainstream media such as the Hindustan Times or Huffington Post. I spent a lot of time creating the page and adding the references. Can you explain what you found promotional so I can delete those sections on my next attempt. I felt everything I posted was factual based on the information from the sources I gathered.

Also I created two accounts with user names Sher Vancouver and Vinay Giridhar by mistake. I worked on both accounts from my home and office computer. I started to receive all these automatic messages that I am doing something wrong. My name is Vinay Giridhar and Sher Vancouver is the non profit society that I wish to write about. Can you delete the account or change the username for Sher Vancouver. I will try to create another article about Sher Vancover using my Vinay Giridhar account.

I would appreciate your help in me creating my first Wikipedia article and I am sorry if I violated any of the Wikipedia rules. Thank you.

Have an nice day.

Your other account is blocked for the reasons clearly stated on that user talk page. As for your desire to use this encyclopedia to promote your organization, please read Wikipedia is not here to tell the world about your noble cause. If you then still feel that your mission is appropriate here, post your concerns for feedback on the Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. – Athaenara 17:31, 31 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I've written an article about Steve Berke in my sandbox. Now it turns out you protected the Wiki page back in 2011 because of advertising. I kindly ask you to unblock it so I can copy my article there. If you can't do that, can you please tell me who to contact? There should definitely be a page about him. --Blindselfie (talk) 13:09, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

You haven't edited anything else on Wikipedia as Blindselfie, have you previously registered other accounts? If so, what are they? Hempydaze and Jaybrown89 also registered to edit only a Steve Berke page, are you familiar with them?
It would be a good idea to establish what your purpose is here. Your brief editing history suggests that yours is a single-purpose account with a conflict of interest (a COI SPA in Wikipedia parlance) registered solely to promote Steve Berke. – Athaenara 14:30, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the quick reply. I have never registered other accounts on Wikipedia. It's true I've come here with a single purpose. I have a "niche interest", as Wikipedia:Single-purpose account calls it: I've participated in the cannabis legalization movement for years now. I'm not a member of any organization mentioned in the article. I have no idea who those people from 2011 were, although "Hempydaze" could be another activist, judging by the nickname. I met Berke once at a festival, and I have several acquaintances who know him. Nobody asked me to write the article, I've written it because I think he's important. I did intend to let him know about it once it was published. I don't think I'm in a conflict of interest, but I'll trust your judgement. -- Blindselfie (talk) 18:21, 1 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
It was salted because of repeated re-creations. As your version is years later and substantially different, I removed that restriction today. You may move it into draft space or article space as you choose. – Athaenara 00:05, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I moved it into article space. Thanks a lot and all the best. -- Blindselfie (talk) 02:25, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

As your sandbox page was nearly identical to the now-deleted spam page previously created by now-blocked user Jeremy112233 (talk · contribs), it may be safe to assume that the Meltedmud user account is yet another sockpuppet engaging in paid editing, without disclosure as required by Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. JS Media, Jon Stancer

in re: User:JSMedia/sandbox/Jon Stancer (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
see also: Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 289#Draft:Jon Stancer (singer-songwriter)

Hello Athaenara,

My page (Jon Stancer) was a 'work-in-progress'. I considered it a draft and I didn't realize that is was accessible by others or that I was breaching Wikipedia's terms and conditions as I was writing it. I believed that via my account login, I was creating and editing something to be published at a later date. I also didn't realize, that the article that I was working on could be removed and that I wouldn't be able to retrieve it. It was the only copy of the article that I had. I would very much appreciate it if I could get my article back. That is my primary hope. If I am able to get it back, I will re-submit it to Wikipedia when ready (ie work on it offline). Please and thank you.

Btw, JSMedia (my current username) is just one person (me, Jason Schneider) and not a company or group. I also didn't realize that it was a bad choice of username when I created my account and have since submitted a request to have it changed.

Again, my thanks for your consideration and kind attention to this matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JSMedia (talkcontribs) 17:18, 5 December 2017 (UTC) [now Jasonschneider (talk · contribs)]Reply

It was a spam page. If you're just one person, why did you talk about "our page" and "our account login", etc., in your request for undeletion? – Athaenara 18:12, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I represent the musician, Jon Stancer. As he is the subject of the article, I have been consulting and conferring with him in order to ensure the information I am putting out there is accurate. I mistakenly used the words 'we' and 'our' in referring to him, but I am the lone user of this account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 19:27, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
...as I mentioned, I was creating the article on Wikipedia, not realizing it was readable by anyone. My intention (once finished) was to run it by an associate to make sure it was okay to post. If the language I was using was indicative of what is typically flagged as 'spam', then I understand that now and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to revise so that it abides by the terms and conditions and can be posted. Please note, I am a first-time Wikipedia user (I suppose that is fairly obvious now). Certainly, there were no ill-intentions here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 20:15, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Looks like it's time for you to post {{Paid}} on your user page as per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Paid editors and Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure, which you should read. – Athaenara 01:14, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
This doesn't apply to me. I am not being paid. The subject of the article is a friend. I do work in the publicity field, but I am not receiving compensation from him. I was merely trying to write and post an article about the subject. It's really that simple. No hidden agendas or malicious intentions. Is there any way I could have my article back so that I can revise it accordingly and have a chance at reposting it?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 13:44, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
At this point, I'd just like a copy of my article back (it was the only copy, as I mentioned). This doesn't seem to me an unreasonable request. I don't know if I'll try to post it here again, but if I do and there are issues with it, then you can feel free to remove it again or better still, bring the issues to my attention so I can effectively address them (although I would be extremely careful not to make the same mistakes again). I didn't intend for this to become a conflict of any sort. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 14:18, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I completely understand and you are entirely justified in removing the article if terms were violated, but I don't quite understand why it's being kept from me. As long as it's not on Wikipedia in its current form, then why am I not permitted to have my piece of writing back? I've received (and appreciate) the explanations relative to my 'mis-steps', but I haven't received any explanations as to why my work is being withheld from me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 14:44, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
"While editing Wikipedia, an editor's primary role is to further the interests of the encyclopedia. When an external role or relationship could reasonably be said to undermine that primary role, the editor has a conflict of interest." That's a quote from Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#External roles and relationships. I'm not electing to undelete your page myself, but you can try following the instructions for posting on Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion and perhaps convince some other admin to do what you request. I recommend logging in for that. – Athaenara 15:15, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
I know you posted a request there before, but there's no harm in trying again. – Athaenara 15:17, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I may very well do that but this is no longer about posting on Wikipedia (or not). It's now (for me) about getting my work back. Whether or not the article ends up on Wikipedia remains to be seen. I would just like a copy of the article. The Wikipedia page can remain deleted for the time being. I am fine with that. Is it possible to have my work back without the page having to be undeleted? Perhaps a copy could be sent privately via email? Certainly, it is accessible to someone (you?) on the admin end... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.254.164.96 (talk) 15:50, 6 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sorry - can I get a response to this please? Is there some way I can get my work back? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasonschneider (talkcontribs) 13:13, 7 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

It's hard to see what notability Givner might actually have. Enrolling in a school from which Lew Alcindor had recently graduated? Taking a leak in a nearby balcony flowerpot during a Watergate burglary? What you wrote strongly suggests you're the guy himself or someone close to or paid by him to get this résumé/puff piece published somewhere, anywhere. It is not an encyclopedia article. – Athaenara 18:02, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

in re: ASAP TyY (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Draft:ASAP TyY (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hello Athaenara,

My page ASAP TyY was deleted and I simply would like to be able to access it so that I can fix it without completely redoing it, as it took quite a while to create. It was deleted due to copyright infringement from ASAP TyY's website, www.asaptyy.com, even though I received permission from the site's owner. If the wikipedia page could be temporarily reinstated, or simply sent to me, it would a long way in my goal to fix the page in a speedy fashion.

It would be an incredible help if you could get back to me at your earliest convenience.
