Daniel Richler and the New Hegelians

Hi Bearcat, I noticed you sourced the idea that Daniel Richler was a member of a biker gang called the New Hegelians to the Montreal Gazette.[1] I haven't been able to find that article; do you have a copy? The whole thing seems unlikely.--Thomas B (talk) 20:16, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Yes, please, I'd love to see it. (I couldn't find it through my library here in Denmark.)--Thomas B (talk) 21:42, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

I am trying to follow the format used by many band members and many bands to post links to articles or interviews that feature them. If not "External Links" -- where would you place this link for interested parties to find their way to these feature interviews?

Thanks in advance -- still new to Wiki editing (although I am a long time user/supporter of Wikipedia) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Majoza416 (talkcontribs) 17:50, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Majoza416, if you're talking about links to the band itself, I would put them in the "External links" section and use {{official website}}. If you want to link to interviews and other information that might be worth including (but don't have any inline section to add them to) I've seen articles with a "Further reading" section (a lvl 3/=== header) that would then be nested under the References section (so it would be ==References== and ===Further reading===). If the addition of that content is controversial, it's best to discuss it further on the article's talk page. Primefac (talk) 17:55, 23 January 2018 (UTC) (talk page stalker)

OK -- but these are audio interviews, not further "reading" -- would that apply? Furthermore -- if interesting, pertinent information gleaned from the interview were included in the body of the article, and then referenced to the interview itself, would that be more appropriate. I do think that the people reading these articles (many of them stubs) will find the interviews useful, and many of them would want to hear them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Majoza416 (talkcontribs) 17:58, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Interviews really aren't the best source of information out there, mainly because they're not fact-checked by anyone. People can claim just about anything in an interview, and while it's likely they're not all-out lying, they could be stretching the truth, misremembering, etc (I've seen interviews where the person gave the wrong year for when an event happened). Interviews should really only be used for uncontroversial things (birthdays, company headquarter locations, etc). Primefac (talk) 18:28, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Offing

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

Berlin

Hi Bearcat. Hope you're well. Most of the films have been named for the 68th Berlin International Film Festival and I've started to create stubs for most of them. Do you know which ones would come in scope for the List of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender-related films of 2018? Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 10:06, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Canadian films of 2004, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ben Bass (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

CKOO-FM Move Discussion

Thanks for the "head's up" that pages being the subject of a "move" request should have the "_(defunct)" modifier added to them, and not the "_(old)" one that I used for CKOO-FM_(Old). I noticed that you didn't bother renaming that one, guessing that's just because it's the subject of a deletion request. I didn't realize that stations that never make it on the air don't get a Wikipedia page (perhaps just a mention as part of its radio station owner's page, at best?). Sorry about moving the old CKOO-FM page at first as part of my "move request" for CJUI-FM but I'm pleased to see you've supported my "move request". Sounds like the original CKOO-FM page just slipped through the cracks, eh? --Doug Mehus (talk) 03:41, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Upcoming Wiki Edit-a-thon

Hi Bearcat, I'm organizing a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Canadian Writers' Summit in Toronto in June 2018 with some help from Art+Feminism. I was wondering if you might be interested in helping out since you're such an expert user and are into the CanLit scene. For example, I'm now putting together a list of stubs/missing articles for our workshop participants to start with, and would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Please let me know if you would be interested in helping out in any way. Thanks! Kaparica (talk) 20:31, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

I noticed your userbox on your user page and....

You actually use linux mint? Cool! i use it too. (sometimes). :) The garmine (talk) 05:39, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Odd

This, which you have worked on in the early days, looks strange, don't you think? A lot of it is simply a letter from an official. --2604:2000:E016:A700:E847:240F:9BE:AC5B (talk) 18:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)

I want a new discussion for Marie K. Newman.

She founded and runs a NATIONAL nonprofit organization and authored a book on the subject of bullying before announcing her run for Congress. Her candidacy has attracted NATIONAL attention, and was even covered by a UK newspaper. On what planet does that constitute non-notability? I'm seeing either a lack of common sense here or political bias. --MopTop (talk) 17:20, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

CBC Radio 2 vs. CBC Music

Hi Bearcat, my apologies for jumping the gun on the changes that we need for our CBC pages -

Attached below is our official FAQ regarding the name change.

https://cbchelp.cbc.ca/hc/en-us/articles/360000745054-Radio-2-is-changing-names-What-you-need-to-know-

Would it be possible to change the name of the categories:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Radio_2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Radio_2_programs to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Music https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:CBC_Music_programs

And merge these two pages:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBC_Radio_2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBC_Music

Please let me know, I also have a new logo that needs to be updated on the CBC Music page.

Please let me know if I need to attach a reference to each of the frequency pages, as I will need to make those changes again once the above updates are complete.

Thank you!

New Jersey political stuff

It looks like there are a number of other New Jersey politician pages which don't qualify under WP:N or WP:POLITICAL and since you've been in these discussions I'm wondering what your thoughts on cleaning them up are, since it's a bit contentious at this point in time. I worked through a category from R to L before stopping (alphabetically backwards, not right-to-left) and would propose the following based on what's been deleted: Eliu Rivera, Elizabeth Randall, Samuel H. Patterson, James S. Parkes, Tomas J. Padilla, Bryant B. Newcomb, Theodore J. Narozanick, John J. Murphy, Edgar O. Murphy, Jose C. Muñoz, Bernadette P. McPherson, Dennis McNerney, William D. McDowell, Joseph Mayer (politician), Maria Barnaby Greenwald, Doris Mahalick, Hank Lyon, Anna C. Little, Brian D. Levine, Harry Larrison Jr., Gerald Lange Jr., Renee Lane

Wondering if you had any advice on whether or not these should be nominated. SportingFlyer talk 05:45, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Bearcat, I had made a fair amount citation updates to the article Christopher Massimine. Could you please reinstate the article so that information can at least be added to the draft?
